I was craving pizza and decided to check and see what deals Groupon had that was close by the hospital that my wife and I where checked into. Found a good deal via Groupon. Went inside waited about 10 minutes at the front counter and not even one smile from anyone working there. I asked a guy that was making pizza dough where done order. His replay was Phfff, right here. Then he yells at another coworker«Hey take his order would someone» I asked the guy a few easy questions and his reply was dual it was as if I was talking to a wall that just had a fresh coat of paint applied to it. Whit that kind of service I decided to pass on ordering here. I can’t believe that this place has a 4 star review with what just happened to me.

I usually get a Po boy, pizza, or gumbo. They are delicious and can’t go wrong with any of them. If you like thin crust pizza then this is your place. You can spice it up a little by adding crawfish in your pizza.

Really love their pizza. Cracker thin crust. Baked just right. I don’t think of pizza and Cajun together, and I don’t like spicy stuff. But I really enjoy Cajun pizza’s pizza. Yum.

I order the Cajun pizza special, the crusher, and garlic cheese bread. My total was about fifty dollars, which is expensive for pizza, and it was not worth it at all. The service was not great, but not bad.

This was my first visit and was not impressed. Red Beans and Rice way over cooked. Rice was mush and beans were soft and mushy. Only positive was the sausage, which I guess you cannot overcook that. I had samples of the gumbo, no flavor needs a lot of hot sauce applied and the crayfish étouffée which tasted pretty good, thus three stars. May have just had the wrong thing. Will try once more and get the étouffée.

«Cajun Cuisine now includes superb PIZZA!» That’s right! I wouldn’t have believed it either, but it’s true… Cajun Pizza Place picks up where the others remain the same. I have dined at the restaurant only 5 times, but I wanted make sure the pizza was always fantastic each time prior to writing. The pizza is great and is now my benchmark to competitors. To me the attributes that make me want to return for this pizza are the crust and ingredient layout. The crust is crispy, thin and spiced so that it can actually be enjoyed on it’s own. I don’t know how they how they do it, but the crispiness maintains throughout the pie. The crust edge is minimized to maximize the toppings across the pie. The toppings are laminarly spread, making sure each bite is the same from center to edge. Given the crust and topping layout, the Ingredients and flavoring are maximized for some memorable pizza eating. NOTE: Pizza is the forte, however, the menu has scrumptious sounding Cajun alternatives. Located in the HEB strip mall at Parmer and McNeil, the restaurant is no frills, unless you are Cajun, from Louisiana, and/or more importantly a Saint’s Fan It’s just a mile north of the new Apple Campus. A definite quick lunch alternative for that crowd to take a new bite out of a different fruit. The restaurant moved from their original location at Pond Springs and McNeil to their new location. There is some confusion on the advisor and discount coupon web sites, indicating that Cajun Pizza is closed instead of redirecting customers to the new nearby location. The space is clean, includes plenty of seating(either booth or loose tables(which can be combined for larger parties)), a small bar, a smattering of flat screens and a pizza kitchen is open to the dining space. Seems to cater to a family and/or sports dining experience with Zydeco music to boot. The wait staff is very attentive and makes sure your orders and requests are processed. Each time we have dined, the time to process an order has been reduced, but the kitchen still produces the same pizza quality. Also, the dining room has usually been half full, I assume the same service level is maintained with larger crowds. And yes, If you like a good deal or need an incentive to try the restaurant, Groupon and Entertainment coupons are available YAY!

Food — 4.5 Wait staff — 4.5 Price — 2 Behind counter service — 2.5 The food is quite good, but is grossly overpriced. I prefer Evangeline down south — far superior. The wait staff has always been friendly and attentive. You get a real taste of Louisiana behind the counter. I’m starting to veer away from this place from my last two visits. Not only is insanely overpriced at $ 25, but the guys are pouring in scolding hot gumbo into the styrofoam container with the plastic lid — which tends to melt from the heat leading to $ 25 gumbo spilling into the bag. This happened twice. The first time I thought it fell over in my three minute drive home. The second trip I had a passenger holding the bag and she noticed the gumbo was spilling out. See the picture to see what I’m talking about — $ 50 worth of gumbo gone to waste. There’s a lot of other things that I’d like to waste $ 50 on. Also, I call in my orders and I’m told my food will be ready in 10 – 15 minutes. I show up 20 minutes later, wait a few minutes, get noticed, then keep waiting for someone to scoop the overpriced gumbo out of their pot. Like I said, you get the real Louisiana feel behind the counter. This has been the case multiple times. Next time I’ll go to N’awlins Café or drive south to Evangeline.

I ordered a crawfish ettouffee from this place and was shocked to see they scooped it from those pre-made soup bucket and it was so thick from the starch that it was a complete mush. And they charge $ 13 for it. Ate the bread that came with it and threw away the ettouffee. What a waste of money.

Who knew eating a shrimp and black olive pizza could actually make me a fan of olives for the first time in my life?! I came here for lunch before my nephew’s birthday and had a salad and shared a few pizzas between the family. My niece and nephew both got the shrimp and black olive pizza which of course they did not finish as they were playing darts with kids from another table, and after sampling theirs, I can now say that I don’t take black olives off of any food that I eat. This is a cool place with lots of TVs, friendly staff, and a cool North Austin hangout, being the watch restaurant for the Saints.

Crawfish Pirogue. A bun of french bread filled with a really good crawfish etouffe. Oh my god this is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’ve been here several times with friends, was never impressed with the cracker pizza, thought the muffaletta was filled with too many olives, the roast beef po boy is terrible, and their only pasta option is spaghetti. I was ready to write them off except I decided to give them one more try because of a Groupon deal. I found their good item. I’ll be back over and over because of that awesome sandwich, the Crawfish Pirogue. Coupled with a Not Your Father’s Rootbeer, it’s an awesome meal and one most people should try. Now, if only they could get some other good cajun dishes on their menu so I wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Razzoo’s when I’m in the mood for cajun. It wouldn’t hurt to put an alfredo/cream sauce on the menu for pizzas either. «Cajun Pizza Place» just screams for a cajun cream sauce pizza with crawfish, but their only option is generic red sauce.

Boudin balls — yep, ordering those again. Pizza — prob not. Shrimp po-boy — yep. Service was very slow but we will be back to try some of the other dishes. Update: Boudin balls just as good this visit. Tried étouffée and gumbo. Both really good. I continue to be pleasantly please with this little find!

Yeah, so they get my 5 star vote because they treated me like they want my business. Last New Years Eve I went to their location that was up further north and ordered pizza with my youngest and we had appetizers while we waited for our to go order was ready. We liked the pizza last year so we decided to start a tradition and order some to go this year too. This time hubby and older kids were going to want some so we were just ordering to go. Problem was, we didn’t head that way until 8:45 not knowing they close at 9! When we called while in route, they said they close at 9 but we could still order because they had to clean up anyway so we could just pick up whatever we wanted! They had me at hello with the crispy crust pizza that isn’t just covered in sauce. I like it meaty and they gave me meaty. I like olives and they put that on the Cajun Pizza Special. I like shrimp and they put that on my pizzas too, like a boss! I’ll definitely be back and I won’t wait until 9:15 on New Year’s Eve!

Dropped in for lunch at 11:30 am on New Year’s Eve Eve. Ordered the lunch combo with gumbo, red beans & rice, and a half order of boudin balls. The red beans & rice had big, plump red beans with spicy Andouille Sausage. Very tasty. The gumbo was more blonde than dark like it usually is, but still delicious with generous amounts of chicken and sausage. The boudin balls were very flavorful. A full order of 8 could easily work for lunch by themselves. The spicy Thousand sauce, I think, may have actually been remoulade. If the Cajun Pizza people read these reviews I hope that they’ll enighten us. A great lunch as usual! They haven’t disappointed so far. Oh yeah, the sign now says Cajun Pizza Place. I forgot to take a picture on the way out. Guess I’ll have to go back another day. :-)

Who Dat Sey Dey Goin’ to Beat Dem Saints! Cajun Pizza places offers my favorite Shrimp Po-Boy in Austin. The french bread is softer than traditional french bread, but fits the po-boy well. The po-boy comes ready made with crispy, fried shrimp and hot sauce on top. The hot sauce almost soaks in but does not take away the shrimp’s crispiness. When I crave a shrimp po-boy(and I do often), this will be the spot. The gumbo is the best I’ve had in Austin. I prefer a thicker roux, but the roux delivers the right amount of saltiness and flavor. The gumbo is complete and good. Though I must admit I’m a bad New Orleanian because I’m not crazy about gumbo. The restaurant is a pizza place and I would be remiss not to mention it. This ain’t yo mamma’s pizza. This ain’t domino’s or pizza hut. It’s complex and flavorful. The crust is shaped like a deep dish and thin like a cracker, creating a rare type of pizza. The pizzas are spicy and peppery, adding a distinct flavor that is a pleasure. The only thing I wish they could add to the menu is a Saints win every week. Who Dat! The crawfish pirogue is my favorite dish here. Savory, creamy etoufee in a shell of their soft bread. Perfection!

I’ve been missing this place since it closed to relocate. The other night, I called to do a pickup order. Not special in and of itself, but it was 9:15 that I called. They happily took my order, gave me a time frame and I made my way over. I was super confused, the door was locked, but the owner came running up to let me in. Turns out they close at 9, but they still gave me an awesome pizza and seemed totally happy to do it. So, customer service was freaking great as it always has been. New joint is way roomier than the old one. There are a few kinks to be worked out, like signage and the fact the soda machine has yet to be hooked up(running with bottled sodas for now), but I’m sure it’ll all come together shortly. And the food is still the exact same. Totally amazing.
