Unfortunately Franklin’s(and even Salt Lick to some extent) has ruined me to BBQ, or this place would get a solid 4 stars. As it is, I have to give it 3.5. I picked up a large order for lunch(plus leftovers) and the food truck staff(owners?) were super delightful despite it being hot outside, and no doubt hotter inside, and packed with people. I do not envy working in a food truck, so I can certainly understand some snappishness, but not from this crew. They simply made the wait pleasant and funny which was appreciated. I ordered the brisket and sausage a la carte by the pound, and the baked beans side. As usual the Texas baked beans disappointed me. I no longer even add that to my rating of a BBQ establishment having come to realize that Southern BBQ beans are clearly in a class by themselves. But for reference, 1 star for the beans(because zero isn’t an option). That being said, what do you come to a BBQ place for, certainly not beans(unless your a vegetarian dating a meatetarian)? MEAT. The brisket was the better side of decent. Certainly better than I expected from a food truck on the side of 620. The bark was present, but not overpowering and the brisket was tender. I would prefer more juiciness, and a less subtle smokey taste, but to each their own. The sausage was not my favorite, but again I think I suffer from growing up in the South. All in all, I would go back when I don’t want to stand in line for 3 hours at Franklin’s(or if I want to eat BBQ any time after 11am), but given the sheer amount of excellent BBQ places in Texas, this is not at the top of my list.

Had read a few good reviews so stopped today and ordered 2 sliced beef sandwiches, but got home and had chopped beef that was not tender(more like burned), low quality, and went to the trash… Very disappointing.

I have been passing by this new BBQ pit trailer with the«free samples» sign for over a month now but they were never open. Until, a recent lucky day when I noticed they were in fact open for business! I sampled the pork and brisket — both have a wonderful smoky flavor but the brisket was the better of the 2. I decided on a brisket sandwich on bun(also white or wheat bread option) with a homemade sauce that added a nice spicy kick. The brisket was moist and tender without being too fatty and had a wonderful smoky flavor that could probably stand alone with no need for sauce. Better than Tug’s down the street and $ 2 cheaper! They have a picnic table to eat at but since they are across the street from the awesome Bee Cave Park I would suggest just bringing a blanket and plan on a picnic. And BTW they share the former Hey Cupcake lot with a Shaved Ice trailer!

Brisket is legit. Best in Lakeway/Bee Caves by a LOT. Great bark, moist — no sauce needed(sauce was good though) — great stuff — bargain at $ 10 a pound. Unconventional sides and they were out of all but the corn when I stopped by. I have seen several cars parked outside last few times I have driven by. The sausage was good but nothing to write home about. I’ll be trying the other meats next time. I hope they keep up the consistency I had with the brisket this time.

Good little food trailer in Lakeway/Bee Cave area. Had the brisket yesterday and it was good. ½ a pound of meat, choice of white or wheat breads and buns, for $ 5. Hell of a deal! Drinks are $ 1. Nice guys as well… Free samples! Said they would be there 10:30 ish-5pm. One tiny complaint… for ½ pound of beef I got about 2 oz of bbq sauce. they are one of the few food trailers out here that will accept debt/credit cards. I’ll be back often!
