today is Friday, Feb 5th. We ate at Chi’s for the first and last time ever. Place looks nice, people are nice, food is nasty, yuk. We ended up finishing two large plates of great melons and pineapple. Not worth $ 25 but at least we didn’t go away hungry.

Dirty, disgusting and a waste of money. The manager/owner did not take the food tray out after I reported that a lady used her entire hand to serve herself the Lomein noodles. Instead he approached the lady I pointed out and spoke to her. It was disgusting and I have not gone back since. The food does not taste fresh and they keep very little in each pan to prevent waste but it causes a lot of wait time for the customer. It’s close and convenient but save your money and go to China Dynasty or somewhere else.

Simply the most gross thing I’ve ever had the misfortune of putting in my mouth. Overfrieid, dried out, fatty mess. The foods that were supposed to be cold, were not iced properly. The only edible Part of the meal was the fortune cookie!

The wonton soup was delicious, not too salty and not too oily. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet, she kept the water glasses full! My only complaint was that our table was sticky. Weird.

This place was a nice surprise. The food was excellent, service was very attentive and the price was much less than I expected. I will be back!

I gave it three stars because people here were very very nice. The guy at the buffet helped me make a super spicy sauce. The food at this place is not great. The general tsos chicken was almost all breading! The sauce was nasty on it. The clams were decent and the hot and sour soup was ok, but most of the stuff did not taste very good at all. It looked good. The place was clean and like I said the people here are very nice

Had dinner at Chi Buffet in Friday, October 16,2015 with my family. Very disappointed. Very little food on buffet line, very dry fried rice and other entrees were cold. Will never return or recommend

Quality was good but there were not many items to choose from. I’ve tried a few different chinese buffet and so far only 1 is worth it that’s fujian just north of austin downtown.

Sitting here with what seems like left over food that was left out to get room temperature not sure if the steak was steak because of the fat and had burnt flavor only the sushi was like something that my child was learning to make the silverware was not really clean best thing on the menu was the beverages and watermelon pretty sad don’t waste your money.

The first time we went to Chi, they still had their GRANDOPENING sign displayed. The place was busy, the food was warm and the owner/managers were visibly involved. By our third visit, however, things were changing and not for the better. Items such as French fries had crept onto the buffet line. People were literally scraping the last cold, unappetizing morsels onto their plates and waiting on someone, anyone, to bring out«fresh» food. Meanwhile, the manager seemed completely uninvolved and disinterested, hanging out in the deserted bar area. To top it off, the place reeked with the odor of a cloying, obviously cheap cleaning product. I’m all for a clean restaurant but, please, don’t use a product whose fumes stick in my nose and throat, give me a headache and prevent me from tasting anything for several days! And NO, I am not overly sensitive to cleaning products; this is the first and only time that I’ve had this experience. The only reason that I give Chi 2 stars is because of the wait staff.

I got sucked into here for their sushi. Oh, how I should not have. It was warm and looked like it would make me sick, so I stayed with their Chinese buffet. The rice is really good. Like, for whatever reason, very good. Our hostess really seemed to have no clue what was going on, but our server was prompt. Nothing stands out about this place, but it isn’t as bad as everyone is stating.

I wish I could give this place a ZERO… And at this point I’m really contemplating a lawsuit. Initially I was headed to the NEW Amaya’s next door, but the pricing caught my attention. It’s been a very very long time since I had some Chinese buffet. I wanted to prove the Unilocalers wrong, especially after being greeted by a very nice owner. All that changed when I tried serving myself some wonton soup… The soup seems like it was there forever, but in the sea of dissolving wonton pieces I found a couple of whole pieces. I managed to get one in my tiny bowl, after it sticking to the serving spoon. The second I was not so lucky… The second one was stuck on the spoon really good. After trying to shake it lose, it fell on my hand causing me to spill the whole bowl of soup in my hand… OUCH!!! I told the owner and she rushed to get me aloe vera and also some ice that she placed in a clean rag. I tried to continue my meal, but just couldn’t. She insisted I check in with her before I leave. This I took as an implication that she would adjust my bill or waive the whole thing… NOPE! She didn’t blink, told me to keep the ice and rag, and sent me on my merry way. I’m in FRIGGINSOMUCHPAIN!!! Not going to lie, between the pain and stiffness I’m worried… Going to see if Web MD can help me solve this tonight… Truly disappointed in this customer service!

Very poor selection yet kind of pricey. Food wasn’t as good and every item on the dessert stand tasted bad… Never coming back for sure!

Food is good if you come at the right times, which I’m still trying to figure out. Most of the waitresses have zero personality and barely give refills you gotta try to catch their attention. Once we asked for our check and our waitress gave it to us and waited at the table for us to pay. Seriously how rude. Most of their employees have zero customer service skills. At least it’s a buffet and you do most of the work yourself.

Two stars only because it was my mistake to come here at a non busy hour(3pm) but I’m warning you, don’t come here. The food was old and soggy and COLD! Like well under the temperature it was supposed to be at. We complained to our waitress and she brings over this older lady who’s the supposed owner who acted like nothing was wrong(smiling blankly at our complaints) and acted like she didn’t speak English. She did not compensate us for the very cold food. She just«raised the temperature» of the food. Like what. Even the waitress apologized that she didn’t refund us. That’s pretty bad. Older manager lady, I’m not impressed!

Food and service is great. Excellent selection of food. My friend loved the shrimp and I personally enjoyed the vegetable lo mein and chicken & broccoli. Drinks were always refilled promptly and dishes were very clean. Definitely coming back.

Don’t waste your time. Nothing was hot, everything was at an odd just above room temperature. A few ok items on the buffet but over all just meh. Cookies were stale. Best thing was the ice cream machine.

Buffet selection is much better than average. The selection of(Americanized buffet) Chinese food is good, I’ve never seen duck on a buffet before. The best item IMHO is the crawfish. They aren’t Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival quality mud bugs, they are Chinese imported frozen crawfish, but Chi serves them up well spiced and cooked/reheated so for $ 12 all-you-can-eat of the crawfish the value is unbeatable. I’ve eaten the crawfish here 4 times(consuming a quanity of crawfish that would likely cost me $ 70 – 100 elsewhere), and only once were they overcooked, 3 times they cooked perfectly and just once was the dish in the buffet overcooked… but the buffet was refreshed with good ones after we finished it off :-D I definitely recommend this restaurant. The wait staff are not 4 start restaurant quality, but remember this is a buffet restaurant in a strip mall :-D

I Absolutely Love this Restaurant. Came here for lunch over the weekend, and I thought the food was Excellent! There was a really good selection of different entrees, that really carried their own distinct flavors. For a buffet style venue, I think this restaurant ranks Top 3 in Austin, particularly South Austin! The Location is also Great… located right next to a movie theater, I’m almost tempted to sneak in some egg rolls, shrimp fried rice, and order of coconut shrimp! Here’s what stood out: Coconut Shrimp: Boom! A lil sweet but not overpowering. Tastes great for take out or dining in. Salt & Pepper Shrimp: I could Eat these All Day Long! Green Beans in Garlic: Very Tasty … almost addicting Broiled Mussels: Very clean tasting, it’s a light palette, but has a Great Flavor Teriyaki Buffalo Wings: YOW-ZAA! Get Back Loretta! These were probably my most favorite dish in the buffet. You Have to try them! Seaweed Salad: Made Perfect! Lightly Crisp and tasted Fresh. Baby Octopus Salad: Served up Cerviche-style. Had spice with a little kick to it, but it was Awesome! And here’s what didn’t work so much… General Tso Chicken: MEH… typical dish, nothing special. It’s supposed to be spicy but a lot of places fail to get it right. Crawfish: Definitely SKIP this one, they’re overcooked and borderline mushy. The seasoning is Perfect, but on a buffet line, they Don’t Work. Service: EXCELLENT! Very Friendly and prompt to Refill Drinks. As a Request to Management… I’d really like to see the Itty-Bitty Sticky Red Spare Ribs… that’s just a request. :) But regardless, I’m looking forward to my next visit back!
