I can’t wait until the day I get to come here again for the MIGAS. It is truly delicious– flavorful and savory, you can taste the love that was put into making it. You would never expect the back side if the restaurant to be so large from the façade. A family owned restaurant, it has great servers and attentive service. The place was packed on a Sunday morning, bustling with families, friends, and even hard core students who clearly hadn’t slept the night before. The inside is a bit dimly lit, with natural sunshine coming from the windows. The bathroom is a bit awkwardly placed, in the midst of tables. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want to be sitting at that particular table that’s right by the door. Moving on, the parking situation is alright, there are a lot of areas for street parking. Few buildings have cool murals on it so you can even go for a little walk to burn some of the indulgence. You get fluffy biscuits and coffee in thick mugs. A very homey sense here, kind of like a family friend invited you over and wanted to cook brunch for you.

Starting 2016 off right with migas and a side of avocado @ Cisco’s. A Bloody Mary would have been perfect. Seems lots of people had the same idea this morning.

Cisco’s was probably the most uncool spot I went to in all of Austin, and I loved it. Unlike other Austin staples which are flashy or chic or so damn cool(which isn’t a bad thing mind you, I loved them too), Cisco’s is a serious Austin staple. It’s been around forever, long before the city itself was considered«cool». I went with a friend who took me because her grandfather had taken her father way back when. And that you have to love. And love is the name of the game here. It’s a family run establishment and there are pics of the whole family all over the walls. And there’s love in the food, you can tell. I got things I had never tried before, which I loved even more, including migas, which are corn fried tortilla strips with eggs and refried beans. Damn good! I also got the biscuits which came with two condiment squeezy bottles of honey and butter. And my god, I was in heaven. The food is cheap, the staff is friendly and it’s easy to see why people have been coming there for generations. Don’t miss it.

Came here during a recent trip to Austin. Surprisingly, I had never been here during my 4 year stint as a longhorn. My initial impression was that this place is crazy old. My suspicions were further confirmed when I noticed all the pictures on the walls dating back to Lyndon B Johnson. My gf swears by this place and has to eat here every time she is in town. We ordered the queso, migas, and some breakfast tacos. The queso was alright. I thought it tasted like regular nacho cheese you get at ball games and movies. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I wasn’t really impressed. The migas were delicious and of the quality that you can only get in Texas. The breakfast tacos(migas and chorizo) were sizeable and delicious. 2 tacos is probably enough for a meal, and I’m saying this as a 200+ lb man. Prices were dirt cheap. Especially if you’re not from Texas. Overall, the food was good and this place is clearly is an Austin institution with tons of history. Would definitely come back again when visiting.

We made a quick stop in here to grab breakfast before a road trip. The restaurant was nothing fancy but the service was so nice and friendly. They took our order right away and shortly we were on our way… I ordered the egg and chorizo taco. It was better than I expected. I like the way the eggs and chorizo were mixed together giving a really delicious taste and texture.

I’ve been here multiple times. But after this experience. I would not recommend this«business» to anyone who appreciates the word respect. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our food, we were unable to locate our original server. When we asked a staff member about our order; no one was aware of our order being placed. After that was all taken care of and we were getting ready to pay, the owner, Clovis, asked how everything was. I proceeded to let him know the food was great and began to mention to him about our order not being placed but had no intention of being rude in anyway. Just to inform him because after all… he is the OWNER. Before even being able to finish he cut me off and started yelling, «I am MEXICAN but I want to be WHITE, because I HATEMEXICANS they are always complaining and I am so tired of all these MEXICAN people.» Not only was this extremely racist, it was unprofessional and done in front of multiple customers. It was completely uncalled for. This gentlemen should be embarrassed to call himself the Owner. I simply wanted him to be aware of the situation to ensure it does not happen to other customers. I am extremely upset because I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends. NOTANYMORE. It’s disappointing. If situations like this are to much for the owner to handle then maybe it’s time to pass it on to someone with patience and love for the business. He rambled more rude comments during his tirade and continued until after we paid. There was no need to be racist, extremely rude, and very unprofessional. Instagram: @WeirldlyMunchable

Been here for weekend brunch/breakfast many times. Always with a large group(6 – 10). They are very accommodating and the food is good. Four stars for the food and service. Extra star for getting our large groups in without a wait. Migas are great, especially when nursing a hangover. Biscuits are worth trying.

We were told this was the #1 Place when visiting Austin Tx for breakfast /lunch and every REAL Austinite knows this local hangout. I would have to say I agree with this statement. Please be warned, this place is a little«seasoned». We each had the migas with ¼ pound fajita, tortilla chips fried with onions and tomatoes, scrambled in eggs, with sausage and beans, with ranchero sauce on the side. The ¼ pound fajita was not what I imagined, basically a piece of grilled steak on top of the eggs. What a great brunch! Very tasty and as authentic as you can get. This was our pre-game meal before the UT — Cal game. Great start to the day.

I have eaten at Ciscos a hundred times over 30 is a one of the touchstone eateries that define Austin. I had never heard of Mexican breakfast the first time I had Migas at Ciscos. A plate of eggs, cheese, onions and a few tortilla chips softly scrambled together. It is served along side the best ranchero sauce in the business and refried beans. You have a meat(breakfast sausage for me) and bread choice. The tortillas are fresh and delish but I go with their incredible biscuits. Ciscos bakery isn’t a bakery in name only. These biscuits are as good grandmother’s. Skip the liquid butter in the squeeze bottle and go with the honey. Liquid butter on the table will probably kill it for a few Unilocalers but here it adds to the retro charm of the joint. I have tried several more dishes here and would recommend all. However the fajitas are traditional Rio Grande Valley style skirt steak and perfect. Ciscos has some flaws but not in service or quality of food. I miss Rudy but I love Ciscos. Clovis keeps. the family tradition rolling and this long time fan appreciates it. I plan on eating here a hundred more times. And hey hipsters after you roll out of bed at the break of noon be aware you are going to have to hustle to get in the front door before 2:30 when they close for the day.

Beef Fajitas migas are the best in town. What makes them so great? First the ranchero salsa, spicy, but not uncomfortably hot. Great scrambled eggs with a perfect crunch and a great piece of flank steak that takes it over the top. If your still in it, get a hot biscuit and butter it up and slap honey on that sucker! If you’re feeling evil kaneivel, put a sausage patty in there!!! Great joint, nice folks, true east Austin original, and every now and then you’ll see famous people stopping by to see what it’s about!

A group of us came here after our first-choice brunch spot had over an hour wait. As my very last restaurant stop on my 10-day Texas tour, I had very high expectations and was not disappointed! Loved the kitschy diner, hole-in-the-wall feel — almost felt like we were stepping back in time — and the service was super warm and friendly, just like you’d expect from such a place. The huevos rancheros were everything I’d hoped for and I loved that we got both tortilla and biscuits! Delicious! I’m kind of sad I never discovered Ciscos during the three years I lived in Austin, but I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in town!

As a UT alumna, I knew I had made the right breakfast choice when the first thing I saw upon walking into Cisco’s was an autographed photo of Colt McCoy on display. Instant great first impression! \m/ Colt McCoy picture aside, I freaking love this place. Every room has a distinct hole-in-the-wall vibe, service is friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. Also need to give a shoutout to their biscuits because they’re heaven-sent. Delicious with honey and butter, but also amazing on their own. When at Cisco’s, EATTHEBISCUITS.

Cisco’s is authentic TexMex– no pretense. You’ll find basic food, a slow, homey atmosphere and lots an Austin mainstay from times past. If you’re wanting ‘yuppie’ food you came to the wrong place. The food here is what people in Texas have eaten for decades, so it’s not for everyone. The staff is friendly enough, though service is slow, when one looks around they’re all busy but not harried. If you’re looking for upscale, meander down the street. If you’re looking for authentic ‘weird Austin’ and the best authentic TexMex breakfast, this is the place to come.

Cisco’s is an Austin landmark for sure. That said, I was a bit disappointed by the first breakfast taco I had(bacon and egg) but the chorizo and egg was quite delicious! The service was great and really helpful though and so overall the experience was a very good one. The salsa was also very good and our friends Migas were excellent. Overall, I would definitely recommend Cisco’s and plan on going back again.

Migas hit the spot And we liked the chips a lot. Coffees all around. Biscuits flakey, round. Service was kinda slow. Because of the steady flow.

I have been wanting to get back to Cisco since my college days. It hasn’t changed. The service was prompt. Food was good. I personally think the Migas at Joe’s Breakfast are better but the wait isn’t as long and this is another good, inexpensive option.

I hadn’t been to cisco’s in years until recently. The circumstances: my husband and I had biked to tamale house east, a frequent weekend destination, and couldn’t park our bikes within 100 feet because someone invited 70 of their closest friends to bike with them to tamale house. The restaurant was slammed, and parking and even seating appeared unlikely to happen. We were hungry, so we biked another block to cisco’s, and what a great choice it was! Seating was available in front and back when we arrived. We took a table and spent a long while strategizing what to order. I had migas with biscuits(yes!!! What a combination!) and my husband had huevos rancheros and a chorizo and egg taco. Everything was delicious, and our server was right, they have good chorizo. Not greasy. The best part: no hipster bikeavansicles arrived to slam the restaurant. In a way, I feel like I shouldn’t review this place, because I don’t want anyone to know about this secret in my neighborhood.

5 stars for the migas and biscuits 2.5 stars for appearance the sausage patty. Came here on a Sunday around 11am. There were a ton of tables open when we got there so seating was not an issue. Our order was taken very quickly a long with water brought to the table. The food arrived and consisted of a decent amount of migas, a very burnt and awful tasting sausage patty, and salsa. The eggs tasted great along with the salsa. The biscuits are amazing, especially with the very odd yellow liquid(I’m assuming some type of butter that I don’t want to question) and the tortilla to turn the migas into a burrito. Overall, the staff was very friendly and our food tasted good. I am not exaclty sure why they even give you the sausage patty, it was so burnt, it proabbly would have bounced on the floor

Gosh I really wanted to rate Cisco’s much higher after having seen the photos posted on Unilocal.Another reason was the wait staff and owner warmly greeted us upon arrival, I really liked that and made me feel at home. Such kind people that work here. The only reason I would come back would be to see them again. The food here is soooo expensive! $ 3 for one taco… I blame 6th street for their prices. I just have an issue with a $ 3 taco that isn’t massive and consists of potato(you can make several tacos out of one potato…35 cents) and egg(19 cents/tortilla 55 cents). When I ordered my $ 3 taco I was expecting a pretty nice sized taco but it was just the regular size and stuffing you could get at taco cabana for $ 1.09. I tried the carne quisada taco and the meat was very nice and tender but a little overwhelming with the meat cut, I would not recommend letting a small child consume this for choking hazards… this was $ 3 which I feel was suitable but last I remembered I paid at the most $ 2.50 for one. The tortillas didn’t seem very authentic either… people may see this differently. I suppose everyone has a tortilla machine these days. Parking tip: If you aren’t able to find a safe spot on the street they have parking lot they share with a bar right across the street. I was very thankful for this.
