4.5 stars. Excellent date place. They have lots of seating for such a small place including study tables for those who are hitting the books along with your standard couches. There are games squirreled away if you want to get some friendly competition going with some people. And of course the namesake cream puffs are excellent. I love this little café. Tiny bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Cream Whiskers is a woman’s paradise. Not saying that men don’t go to this establishment(I have seen a few), but with its décor, cute cream puffs, and soft color palette, the ladies are bound to flock to Cream Whiskers. They feature fluffy cream puffs filled with varying flavors of custard or cream. All the flavors I’ve tried are amazing, but my go-to is the brown butter pecan. Their drinks are superb. I love their matcha tea, chai tea… basically all their teas. My only qualm is their hours. I wish they opened before lunch, especially since they serve coffee. Plus, it gets crazy crowded during the school year after 2−3pm that sometimes I can’t find a seat. I would totally come to campus to work more often if they opened earlier! Hint hint. Don’t miss out!

I think this was actually the first cream puff I’ve ever had. Although I don’t have much to compare it to, I know that Cream Whiskers delighted my tastebuds for sure. The inside of the store is somewhat small, but there were enough tables, couches, and chairs to comfortably fit the few patrons that were there when we visited. It looks a lot like a coffee shop inside. Appropriate, since they serve coffee. To order a cream puff you first choose if you want the original cream puff pastry shell, or the cookie top pastry shell. Don’t be scared of the cookie shell, it’s actually airy enough so that when you cut into it, your cream in the middle doesn’t get smooshed all over the place. After you choose your pastry shell, you pick what kind of cream you want. There are a variety of whipped creams, cream cheese based creams, custard cream, and a frozen cream. I went with an original shell, strawberry cream cheese cream, and requested a chocolate drizzle on top(they have drizzles too). Boyfriend got cookie top, and buttered pecan whipped cream, which came with some sort of caramel drizzle. We also got a Belgian hot chocolate to share. Everything was delicious. The whipped cream wasn’t too light either, like I was concerned it would be.

«So I read about the place which will pipe in different flavored cream and even ice cream into a choux pastry. you know like Beard Papa.» was the beginning of a conversation with friends as we were planning an eating session in Austin…“Wait, whaaaat??“ So of course after a day of eating off we went to Cream Whiskers. Tiny space and packed with hangers(you know people who buy one puff and hang out for 2 hours) and an overworked employee greeted us. But all was very pleasant overall. Ordered the macha-adzuki bean puff, affogato and ice cream filled puff. The macha was a pleasant surprise because it really tasted strongly like macha but the adzuki was just a gentle hint of a schmear at the bottom of the pastry which really needed to be ramped up to make a difference. The ice cream and coffee were just fine. Overall I thought the choux pastry has started losing its crispness already, but was still a pretty good eat. They need some new and interesting flavors(jalapeño and pineapple perhaps? jalapeño jam at the bottom of the puff with pineapple cream?) to jack it up a notch, but good eats.

My friend was giving me a tour of Austin and took me to Cream Whiskers because I was so exhausted from the road trip I just needed coffee! My best friend and I ordered a Mocha, Vanilla Latte, and Original Puff with Cookies and Cream filling. The Original puff was very light and fluffy! I’m so glad I got that instead of the cookie puff because otherwise the combination would have been overwhelmingly sweet with the cream filling. The cookies and cream filling was very smooth. It had the perfect consistency and was very light, but it didn’t necessarily taste like cookies and cream. I think it could use some more flavor. The vanilla latte I had and the mocha my friend had were very bland. It tasted like we were drinking straight milk. The interior and atmosphere of Cream Whiskers was a little awkward. It seems like a fine place to study, but the cashier was just a little hard to talk to, not that she was mean, just not very sociable. All in all, I just had an average experience, I enjoyed my cream puff, but it really wasn’t anything special, I do hope to come back another time and try their matcha filling everyone raves about!

Great little shop to grab dessert and coffee while you’re studying on UT campus. I don’t prefer cream puffs in general so I got the cream whisker with ice cream instead. It’s a little pricey considering how small the dessert is but very delicious!

The pictures of the delicious cream puffs will draw you in alone. At least it did for me! A small coffee shop serving puff pastries filled with, my favorite, whipped cream. It’s a small and quaint little place. Lots of students studying with their laptops and study groups. Couple of guys on the couch playing games. Plenty of counter space near the window to sit. We stopped by and got some coffee. Delicious. Got 2 different cream puffs. Birthday cake and fresh strawberry. Definitely wanted more but resisted. I will definitely be back to try the cookie topped puff. This is a must stop by place if in Austin for a nice treat.

I think I have a problem, since I rate bakeries and coffee shops relatively highly compared to other restaurants. It just so happens that Cream Whiskers is a cream puff bakery AND a coffee shop. Brace yourself for ridiculous amounts of praise. First off, the cream puffs are delicious. Are they worth the $ 3 – 5? Probably not, but #TreatYoSelf, haha. I think Mango might be my favorite, but I also love and recommend Cookies & Cream, Tiramisu, and Fresh Strawberry. Next time I go, I’m definitely trying the ice cream kind; will update this when I do! The coffee is good enough in my opinion. I’m sure it’s not professional coffee roaster quality, but I like it more than Starbucks and anywhere else close to campus. I think it’s a lighter blend, but don’t quote me on that. My friend had the tea, and he said it was a little watered down, so I guess I wouldn’t recommend that. The study environment is the best part. There is an abundance of outlets – I only wish there was more space! Service is always friendly, even though it’s mostly student run. Will be back to study for the rest of the semester!

I’m really impressed that Cream Whiskers has continued to improve itself. The cream puffs have always been the key selling point, but CW now validates parking in nearby Quarters Garage, has plenty of outlets, plays music at the right volume, and offers GREAT iced coffee. There are a ton of flavors of cream puffs to choose from, so odds are you’ll find at least one that you’ll like(if not many). You can even customize it with a «cookie top», although I feel it’s unnecessary — the original«top» is just as delicious. This is a great place for both getting work done and catching up with a friend, but I do have two complaints: wifi is inconsistent, and the cream puffs are a bit more expensive than what I would prefer to pay. Nevertheless, us students are lucky to have a place like Cream Whiskers — it’s as good as it gets in West Campus!

I LOVE Cream puffs. LOVE them. I went here because it’s been long enough since I’ve heard about them to give them a try. I got 3 puffs. The Matcha, the strawberry and the OG. I did not like the Matcha at all! It had red beans? green beans? I don’t know what type of beans at the bottom. I did not enjoy it at all. The filling/cream was ok. It was matcha flavor but it wasn’t the best. The strawberry, I got it without chocolate drizzle b/c I’m not a big chocolate fan. It was fine. It’s a whipped cream, not a custard cream so I was once again disappointed. I’m so glad I got an original! It’s just what I wanted. It’s a custard cream that’s the traditional filling for cream puffs. I love that it’s full of cream so almost every bit had a balance of pastry and cream. I will be back! This place is a nice place to work/study also.

I ordered the mango puff and the elephant vanilla iced chai latte. The mango puff was actually filled with a mango custard and not with cream, which I think was more delicious. The chai latte was also served in a cute mason jar. Basically everything was very cute here, from the white ball lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling to the assortment of decorations on the wall. Parking is validated if you park in the Quarters garage, but on Sundays street parking is free. This is a great place for chit chatting and studying because of the tables and outlet plugs.

Study spot? Hang-out spot? After-a-full-dinner-dessert spot? Cream Whiskers is your spot. I’ve spent at least 50% of my undergrad in this place — and I can’t list all the great things about it, but I will try, because this place deserves a visit if you’re ever around UT campus. Puffs(from my most favorite to least): Cookies n Cream(cheesecake filled with an Oreo on top, get it, you won’t regret it), Fresh Strawberry(cheesecake again, you’re seeing the trend here), Strawberry(you can’t go wrong with plain strawberry), Choco-whip Brownie(it’s a little on the sweeter side), and Vanilla(honestly it was kind of bland). Drinks: I’m really picky with my coffee — but this place is always a hit or miss. I’ve tried a variety of their flavored lattes, and I think the iced caramel one is my favorite, BUT it really depends on who the barista of the day is… BTW, they now have ice-cream puffs? It’s worth a try, but I think I’m going to stick with the original ones. Misc: There’s a good number of metered parking spots on the side, and tons of outlets for your electronic devices, and the seating isn’t that bad although it does get quite busy when school is in session. Anyway, if you’re reading this, I bet you have never been to a cream puff bakery, so do yourself a favor and go now!

Cool location. Great selection of options(who knew you could do so many things with a cream puff???). Very fresh pastry and fillings. Rich but not too rich. I had an Americano and it was very good. If I lived on or even near campus, this would be a very regular stop. A great departure from the usual dessert choices.

I’ve been dying to try Cream Whiskers. I’m totally not a «dessert person» but this particular treat struck my fancy. We arrived just before close and though they were out of ice cream puffs, they still had matcha, tiramisu, strawberry cheesecake and brown butter pecan. I chose the latter and my two friends got strawberry cheescake. For those of you who have tried frozen creampuffs, those are not these. These are hollowed out cupcake looking things that they squeeze fresh cream-based fillings in. And you can get a cookie version. And they dribble stuff on it and add a little cute garnish. Next time I’ll try a smaller one and maybe do the ice cream thing. I wanted mine to have a bit more of a savory bite to it for balance but overall, this is one of the most unique desserts in the city right now.

A place to satisfy those cream puff cravings. enter Cream Whiskers! I am a big fan of cream puffs, always and forever will be! The ones I had before were from Beard Papa’s and ones in Japan. But CW definitely hit the spot. We came here on a hot weekday afternoon. The place was rather quiet, but I’m sure that has a lot to do with the fact that school is out, but nonetheless CW is a cozy place to hang out/study/relax. Street parking only — well the same goes for anywhere around UT. Now the good part — We ordered two puffs, the regular puff x matcha with azuki beans & the cookie puff x lavender vanilla and prickly pear icecream(yes, comes with two scoops of icecream!). The two different puff shells honestly tasted very similar, but I would have to say the regular puff does it better for me. The regular puff is light and chewy, but I would have preferred it to be more fluffy. On the other hand, the cookie puff, didn’t give even a slight«crunch» factor at all. So I would say go with the regular puff. The matcha cream paired well with the azuki beans and had just enough sweetness. While, the prickly pear icecream(get that if available) is delicious! Overall, great selection of cream/icecream puffs! I will definitely venture back to this place again.

Great little spot for a different cream puff. I had the matcha, my brothers had the fresh strawberry and cookies and cream. The matcha was perfect. Not too sweet The cookies and cream was straight diabetes, lol The fresh strawberry was great. Very light We all had the cookie top All in all we will be back.

Adorable place! Wish this was here when I was at UT. Ambiance is ideal for a study environment and it’s close to most apartments in West Campus. Brown sugar pecan was my fav! Fresh strawberry was good as well. The cookie top and regular puff are both good but I would get the cookie top with a lighter flavor inside to balance out the sweetness. The coffee was also good and the price is great for the sizes offered. They have some pretty interesting flavors like mango and matcha so I’ll be back to try these next time I’m in Austin! Hope they expand!

Love this place! Such a quiet and intimate place to hang out or even just do homework. I think the cream puffs and the drinks here in general are all very carefully handmade, and a lot of thought goes into each one. I love their seasonal menu, and I think it’s so cool that they change their menu every now and then. This is definitely one of my go to dessert places, and one that you will not find anywhere else. I had the brownie chocolate cookie cream puff and a latte, and I think that drinking coffee with cream puffs just balances really well. I think any of their flavors for the cream puffs are all good, but I saw that a lot of people really liked the tiramisu. I think the cookie outer layer is better with its crispy and sweet texture, but I do have a sweet tooth, so it might not be for everyone. I will definitely be back for more!

Pleasant little shop facing 22 ½ street. I love how the employees hand make your cream puff as soon as your order it. There’s a good amount of variety and they also have a seasonal menu every once in a while. Each cream puff comes with the option of the regular cream puff shell or a crispier, cookie-like shell. My sister and I purchased 3 cream puffs and had the regular puff shell on them(Fresh Strawberry, Chocowhip Brownie, and Cookies & Cream). All of them were great, but a bit sweet. Store gives off a cute coffee-shop vibe, and is also a lot more than just cream puffs. I also saw options for cheesecakes and espressos. Definitely a place to try out if you have a huge sweet tooth. 4 stars because there’s no other handmade cream puff shop around for miles.
