I have fond memories of heading over to Double Dave’s for the pizza roll special between classes and it will always have a special place in my heart. I had never had pizza rolls before Double Dave’s and they’re a thing to behold. But now, let me tell you about the buffet. A buffet is like war and doubly so for a pizza buffet(doubly double if the pizza is from Double Dave’s). You don’t leave a buffet when you get full, you leave it when you hate yourself. You leave when you’ve stuffed your face with so many slices of cheese pizza that you’re pretty sure that your body is no longer capable of sweating but has, instead, chosen to simply perspire pizza grease directly through your skin. You see, the goal of a buffet is not to become full, it is to eat more than the price of admission. «All you can eat?» Ha! You will not leave until you’ve made the owner pay for his insolence. Offering infinite food for a finite price? Such hubris! It is for this reason that Dave — both Daves, in fact — need to be taken down. And so you eat. And then you eat more. You eat until you curl into the fetal position in your booth, wallowing in self-pity. See, what you failed to consider is that pizza costs close to $ 0 to make. This is not a game you ever had a chance at winning. And so Dave wins the battle, though perhaps not the war, but at what cost? ATWHATCOST? Ten dollars.

I came here every so often when I was in college. I was an engineer, and this place is convenient, has a license to sell alcohol, and the pizza buffet is always a good reason to stop by. Now that I’ve moved away, I don’t come here as often, but am coaxed into doing so some friends on Thursday nights(all pints are $ 2.50). It’s a fun lot, we go to one of the tables outside and watch sports while playing cards. It’s a fun old-fashioned environment and great for big parties.

I love this place! A block from my house and a lot of beers on draft. Their philly cheese steak sandwiches are ridiculously good. They also have deals on food and pizza everyday. They are not expensive at all and have a lot of seating outside, which I love. The only thing I think they could improve on is their music selection. Modern country? yuck, next station!

Pizza has good taste and the roll is very good as well. After a long run needed a few carbs and what better way than Pizza. Right on the UT campus. Probably shouldn’t have worn my BAMA shirt but no problems. I would go back.

CLOSED: This place has been closed for a few weeks. No wonder they let the food get so bad here, or maybe that’s why it closed. No plans to service the UT/Central area any time soon. Old review — I used to love DoubleDaves, but the last few times I’ve ordered from here they have messed up the food — over cooked, nasty dough, didn’t get my order right, etc. And to make it worse, when I brought it up to them they were completely unhelpful — they just couldn’t give a rats ass whether their food was good or not. It’s disappointing, but my love affair with the Double Ds is over. At least in pizza places.

Great place to watch sports and gorge yourself on pizza! While Double Dave’s isn’t going to win any awards for its pizza, it certainly offers a quality buffet. Simple pizza can still be good pizza. And those pizza rolls are insanely good. I always eat too many(I regret nothing!). Plus dessert pizza, the most American pizza ever. There are daily pizza and beer specials. You can pretty much watch any sporting event here too. And if you’re a Longhorn fan, there’s tons of memorabilia lining the walls.

Ever wonder what Austin was like before it became Awfulstin? Get over to Double Dave’s on Duval for a time warp back to better times. I love this place, I’ll admit it. And the 5 stars is because of the perfect culmination of food, service, atmosphere and nostalgia. Remove any one of these and DD’s becomes a 2 star crappy pizza joint at best. The pizza: I am a simple pizza eater: extra cheese. There is nothing fancy about DD’s pizza, it is just kind of ordinary, American chain pizza. For some reason, it is delicious. Especially at this location. I order from the one on Metric from time to time, and while their’s is good too, it tastes different from this location on Duval and just isn’t as good. I have a friend who is in love with the pepperoni pizza rolls. He grew up in Austin and has been coming here for them for years. Nothing can put in a good mood like an order of those pepperoni pizza rolls. I personally am not a fan but I think it is just because I don’t like pepperoni pizza rolls. During lunch and I believe on Wednesday and Sunday nights they have the all you can eat pizza buffet. This is buffet heaven at its finest. From the salad bar to the cheesy bread to the dessert pizzas, you cannot go wrong. Now let’s talk about the actual location. Nestled in North Campus, on Duval just north of Dean Keaton, this place looks like the most stereotypical All-American university pizza joint straight out of a movie. There is UT sports paraphernalia all over the walls, knick knacks, beer signs and promotional materials from brands that haven’t existed in 15 years. There are TV’s galore showing every sport you can imagine with some permanently tuned to the Longhorn Network showing women’s skeet shooting or whatever horrible sport that no one is watching on the Longhorn Network. In addition to the main room, there is also what we like to call the«VIP Room» that is separate from the main dining room and has two large HD tv’s on opposite sides of the room. If we’re really lucky on a Sunday morning during the Fall we can«reserve» the«VIPROOM» for our own private football viewing enjoyment. And by reserve, we mean get their first and tell other customers that the room is reserved. That way you can watch both the Fox and CBS noon games in private. Luxurious. The best part of DD’s is that you will never find anyone who: 1. Goes to a club and requests bottle service 2. Enjoys Sunday Funday 3. Is a Food Blogger 4. FoodSpots pictures of the buffet

Was kept oval because I hadn’t heard much about it. Man, was I missing out. We got meat lovers xxl pizza. Between the four of us we maybe ate half. The beer options were cool, I loved the pizza, we went when it wasn’t busy so missing out on all the turmoil I read about in other reviews was nice. Hands down, best pizza in austin.

Went on a Friday night and had already passed up a few overly packed pizza places because I didn’t want to fight for a table. When we got to Double Dave’s it was nearly empty and I wasn’t sure whether to be excited that we would get a table or nervous about why no one was there. Excited was definitely the answer. We ordered the Dave’s Fave, with AND without meat versions in one pie. I highly recommend the combo, especially if you’re a garlic fan, like me. Crust was not too thin, not too thick. Meats were flavorful and I can see why it’s Dave’s fave. If you’re looking for a good pizza and don’t want to fight a crowd, I highly recommend Double Dave’s.

The pizza is a thin crust, not crispy, and the sauce is a little sweet. There are daily beer and pizza specials. You can’t beat the $ 1 pepperoni rolls on Tuesdays. They’re not tiny rolls like you get at other places. The lunch buffet is pretty decent. Seems like a good place to watch UT football games. There’s a huge outdoor patio and tables. However, I usually call in my order and pick it up.

I really like this Double Dave’s location. Large tables, good food and decent prices on beer. I will admit I am not a sports fan, so when UT is on the TV, I stay away. More power to the place for that because I know that UT sports is it’s bread and butter. I say this in regards to the positive times I do have there. I organize a board game group here once a month on every 2nd Saturday of the month. This is the reason I listed large tables as a plus. We can spend many hours there and they seem to be fine with it. We partake in the buffet during lunch and after that we start buying pitchers of beer. Since we meet-up once a month, we make the most out of our time and have fun with friends. So if you take anything away from this review, it’s a good place to have a good time with good friends.

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s close to work, and it’s cheap — for $ 9, you get all the pizza and salad you can eat, and all the refills on soda or tea you can drink. I used to call it «Dirty Daves» because, as with a lot of buffet places, the plate and utensil cleaning was spotty at best. I still get the occasional unidentifiable crusty thing on a fork or knife, but it is what it is – a pizza buffet. You know what you are getting at a place like this — dodgy lettuce, miscellaneous veggies of questionable freshness, pepperoni rolls that range from all dough to a perfect ratio of dough to pepperoni. Greasy pizza and cheese sticks. Nothing surprising, nothing culinary adventurous. You can’t knock a pizza buffet place for being a pizza buffet place. For me, this is not a destination place other than an infrequent lunch spot when I feel the need to carbo-load. When I eat here and I walk out full, it isn’t because I just had good pizza, it’s because I wanted carbs. You know Gatti’s — good salad bar, bad pizza. DD’s is the opposite — bad salad bar, adequate pizza. Not the best pizza, not the worst pizza. Again, it is what it is, nothing more, nothing less. I almost made this a 2-star review but truth be told, I DO keep coming back, and barely-adequate lunchtime buffet pizza is still better than no pizza at all.

Perfect place to feel the texan vibe and eat excellent pizzas while watching sports. Specials everyday! You will not regret neither their lunch buffet for $ 9.

Pizza rolls are rediculous. Pizza buffet is awesome. Delivery times are horrid. Bbq chicken pizza is awesome. 11 – 2 for the buffet. Has slowly gone up in price over the years. Have gonna hear fairly regularly since college. For about 5 – 6 years

This place is one of my favorites. I would even put it in top 10 places to go in Austin. The atmosphere there is chill, you can watch football while enjoying awesome Texas beer, food is mouthwatering, staff is friendly and omg pepperoni rolls taste like heaven. Love it, love it, love it! Definitely recommend this place!

The pizzas are great! The pitchers and even glasses are small though. Also, no idea why there are so many animal heads hanging on the walls.

Honestly, I go here for the beer. Hands down, you can’t beat it. Half price pints daily from 4 – 7 makes my Blue Moon a-buck-seventy-five! — Good atmosphere, totally casual, order at the counter type place — Good TVs and great for game watching –DD staff at the campus location has always been fantastic — A bit higher priced pizza & buffet, but I’m sure rent is not the cheapest w/in UT walking distance — Never been attracted to the salad bar — Wish they would stop serving beer in plastic cups, feels cheap. Although I think I’ve grown accustom to it. Instead, purchase a fast cleaning Hobart or something?!

Beers on Thursdays are $ 2.00. Toto, we are not in Philadelphia anymore. Pizza is pan pizza, which reminds me of Pizza Hut, which brings back fond childhood memories.(Let’s be honest, adult memories too). We tried the pepperoni, sausage, ham, mushroom — it was all delicious. Not a fancy place, but easy to go with as a group.

Beats all other pizza buffets. Sure DD is not gourmet pizza but it’s not pretending to be either. Pizza, pepperoni rolls(yum), cheesesticks, philly cheese calzones(I think?), and a salad bar. The only thing that I dislike is the salad bar, but who’s coming to a pizza place to eat salad anyway? Not me. PS. this has a sports bar vibe with all the flat screen TV’s tuned to sports channels. There’s also a great selection of alcohol(read: frat boys central). I guess the only thing that can be improved is the crowd of college-aged guys shouting out their sexual encounters from last night and ratings of girls but I guess that comes with the territory…

This is Austin, so I don’t expect amazing pizza, but Double Dave’s is pretty bland even compared with Mangia, Conan’s, Milto’s and other pizza places in town. The cheese is heavy and the dough tastes like dinner roll dough, which is fine with dessert pizza and actual rolls(like the peproni rolls) but weird on a real pizza. But…you get what you pay for, like a small pizza for $ 6, and hey, they have cheap pitchers.
