One of my favorite south Austin taco spots! Small with a few areas and fast take our service. Portions are generous(two tacos should me more than enough for most!) and they don’t skimp on pricier options like meat and avocado. Fresh, filling, and really good coffee.

This place is fantastic! Their dishes are delicious and authentic to central Mexican cooking. They also serve café de olla, in which most Mexican places don’t. Everything tastes fresh and savory. We stop by every weekend during brunch time to enjoy the food and coffee. The only drawback is that it is a smaller restaurant so it easily gets packed and seating can take a while. Rightfully so though!

Im from México and I can say this is the best mexican food ive tasted since I have gotten to Austin. Everything is incredible from the tortillas to the Barbacoa and the chilaquiles. Amazing.

Two words: Homemade tortillas. I’m sure I am spoiled being from the southern part of the United States but I don’t want to eat at a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t make their own tortillas. Not only are they homemade but they are also very delicious. The café de olla is incredible. I can’t think of another restaurant in town that makes this Mexican staple. They also make all of their sauces from scratch. I tried this spot rather recently after moving into the area and I’m already a regular. Great for breakfast or lunch. They even make fresh fruit smoothies! The ladies that run this place are very sweet and make some incredible food.

Wonderful coffee, great homemade corn tortillas and delicious Mexican breakfast. Really enjoyed our meal. The only thing I’d add to make our meal more enjoyable would be some sort of music in the playing in the background. Will be back for sure.

I like the tamales and café de oya. The beans and migas taste like they would at home, mmmmmm! This little business doesn’t disappoint — me gusta mucho(I like it a lot) Try their empanadas with cajeta.

We stopped in again for breakfast, this time huevos rancheros. The eggs were ordered over medium and were cooked perfectly over medium. The ranchero sauce is just what you are hoping to taste when you order this dish. The sides that came with it were potatoes and refried beans. The potatoes were cooked just how we like them, done enough so that they are still on the firm side, instead of to the point of being mushy inside, and the beans were flavorful. Again, the green salsa did not disappoint.

This is one of those little Austin secrets, that you want to keep to yourself because you know if the words gets out the place will be crowded ALL the time. However, it’s my Unilocalsibility to let all the good peeps know of this hidden gem. If you want genuine, authentic Mexican food, this is your joint. It’s tiny, so inviting your group fitness class to lunch isn’t the greatest idea. The coffee is made like the coffee in Mexico. It’s unique… some find it amazing others find it unpleasant. I had a Chilaquile dish with chicken topped with a couple of eggs over easy. It was seasoned exceptionally with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy in the sauce. My girlfriend had a breakfast dish w/potatoes that she didn’t even come close to finishing. We ordered chips and salsa before and boy was I thrilled when I saw they had home cooked chips. Perfectly crunchy and mmm so good! Around 20 bones will get you all of this food including friendly customer service. Our waitress was accommodating and put in a noticeable effort in ensuring we were fully satisfied. They have one TV(that’ll probably be playing some type of show in espanol).

Hidden Gem. I got an assortment of breakfast tacos on my first visit. I noticed they had fruit smoothie drinks so I ordered their antioxidant blend. The tacos had the usual ingredients; eggs, beans, potatoes and cheese on their handmade corn tortillas. The food was like family. The antioxidant drink was filling and I was energized after drinking most of it as I ate a yummy potato, egg and cheese taco. I cleaned my house. Yeah.

I was so excited to try this place near my house. I was so disappointed to take my chicken tamale home to find out it was empty. :(:(:(:(

Love this place! Best homemade corn and flour tortillas. The coffee is also delicious. Made with a hint of cinnamon and piloncillo. Beats all the Mexican restaurants around this area. Everything is fresh and made to order.

Oh my goodness. I haven’t even gotten my food & I’m already impressed. The horchata is absolutely amazing!.. And drinks are served in a glass, instead of an 8 year old, dingy plastic cup like most restaurants. They make both the flour & corn tortillas in house. The barbacoa is made the traditional way… Head meat. & it’s really good. Pastor is absolutely amazing. The tacos are huge! I got 3& am completely stuffed. I’ll be back here soon & frequently

They have the best delicious tamales that I ever had in Austin. The restaurant is super clean and friendly staff always with a smile. The coffee has a unique taste that reminds me when I would visit Mexico. The flour tortilla was handmade! Can you believe it handmade??? And believe me the huevos rancheros for $ 3 dollars are amazing. This place is a jewel!

If you want authentic food that tastes exactly like«abuela»(grandma) makes… this is the place. Don’t blink or you’ll pass it by. And make sure you get there before they close at 4pm. Very friendly wait staff. I’m getting hungry just thinking about El Torito. Located at 6616 South Congress. They are on the right side of South Congess as you’re facing South.

This is a hole in the wall. They make their own tortillas both flour and corn. They do have a small space, it will be a matter of time till they transfer to a bigger space due to their menu. Their menu includes the interior Mexican plates chilaquiles, and also pambazos. This is definitely a breakfast-lunch place. Aguas frescas are in sight, hibiscus water hit the spot for me. I took my food to go and I have been back about 3 more times.

I ate here a few weeks ago and the food was so delicious. I had tacos al pastor and the tamales. The tacos had real pineapple chunks and the meat was flavorful. The tamales had a great texture and flavor. The salsas were tasty and not too hot. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff were very nice and accommodating. I will definitely stop in next time I’m in Austin! P. S. I tried the coffee and it was just like drinking cafecito in my abuelita’s kitchen.
