I have eaten here several times and am not much for giving reviews. I pulled up other reviews while looking for the operating hours and saw some negative comments. I have only had positive experiences here. The food is great and low cost. The condiment bar is stocked with salsas and onions and all looks and tastes fresh. If you are in a hurry, this place beats fast food any day. If you have time to sit and eat there, it is clean and the workers are all very kind. You may want to brush up on your Spanish :).

Rico who? Who cares if Pollo Rico has a drive through. I’ll put on clothes and feign decency every time for taste of that sweet, sweet Pollo Regio. The hubs and I just moved south from north Austin, so we had been regulars at the Regio trailer on Ohlen. We cheated on them once with the Pollo Rico across the street, but never again, and Regio took us back, no questions. Not even Rico’s well-appointed salsa bar could sway us. When we moved south, I had crippling anxiety about whether we’d be able to get enough Regio in our lives. Amazingly, we now again live between a Rico and a Regio. We live closer to the Rico, but now it’s Regio who has the salsa bar! And dessert! And a dine-in area with TV! I guess the only down side is that now we’re going to have to buy fake mustaches so it doesn’t get weird when we start eating all of our meals there.

I don’t know what they put on this chicken… It’s delicious, moist and juicy. It’s also very affordable and the drive through is super fast. My only issue was not having the option of removing the onion from the full chicken order, I was told it was not an option. My boyfriend is allergic to onions so we had to order something else for him. Nonetheless, if you are looking for tender and well seasoned grilled chicken this is a great place to get it.

The mole is really good! But… I do not recommend to eat inside, get your order through the drive thru. YOU will not enjoy if you eat inside you can smell the bathrooms.

I ordered the torta with carne al pastor. It was awful. The meat had a red wine color and tasted artificial. I placed the order without cheese but they still put it on my torta. My friend had the«papa regio». In short it was cold, chewy and the meat felt like too many nerves. The worst $ 7 I’ve spent in a long time haha.

Food is still fine — but the bathrooms are cleaner at a camp site Come on and clean the — the chicken is great as well as sides but clean up the place more than once a week

Love the first time I came here! One of the most organized and cleanest El Pollo locations I’ve been to. The chicken was amazing, the salsa bar was well-stocked and looked fresh and the staff and customer service were excellent. The second time around however, I was turned off by the strong sewer/bathroom/poo(?) smell that I had to take the food to go.

The place smells like poo. If you drown everything in the green sauce then it’ll make it taste better. I had the half chicken and the portions were greedy. My mom had a burrito which seemed alright. Overall, if a restaurant smells like poo then you don’t get past 2 stars for me. Also the customer service was lacking.

I have eaten here a ton. The proprietor is super. He keeps the place clean, upbeat, and well stocked. I mostly go for the chicken soup. You get a lot of food for a fair price. The fresh complimentary salsa bar is always well-kept. My only complaint is the bathroom stinks, especially if you hit it after the lunch rush(must be the overload of bean farts). I stay away from the beans, myself. This must be a plumbing issue because they keep the restroom clean. Overall, it is what I like in fast food place: inexpensive, upbeat, tasty, fresh, and clean.

Chicken is sooooo dry, even the dark meat. Struggled to dip it in anything so that I could chew and swallow it. The 2 stars I AM giving this place are for the ONLY enjoyment of my meal, which was the charro beans and the salsa which were great. Please stop cooking the soul out of those poor chickens!

Chicken was just okay but I think there was a little left to be desired. The rice and tortillas seemed a bit old and the guacamole was nowhere near authentic. Not sure what the hype is all about!

Amazing!!! The chicken falls apart and is so moist. The onions it comes with are so delicious.

Pollo Regio Sometimes a positive review does not have to come from sampling many dishes. Sometimes the focus is on management as well as the food. When we went to Pollo Regio on 110 E William Cannon Dr. In Austin, we knew that we were sampling one of the restaurants of a chain that had been recognized by several reliable food critic sources as being outstanding. As soon as we entered this particular venue, the manager came out to greet us and asked if he could assist in supplying information about any of the dishes. we actually did have some questions, and either he had a ready answer or he went back to his office to research the correct answer. The friendliness of his tone made for a very pleasant dining experience. Oh, yeah, and the food was marvelous. All salsas were fresh, authentic, and tasty. We like heat in our salsas, and at Pollo Regio there were several options from which to choose. The chicken fell off the bone, and there was enough of it for us to have leftovers. Two solid thumbs up, and a five Gold-plated star overall experience thanks largely to the manager.

I’ve only had a couple different things from here. My partner eats here quite frequently he believes their food is good. I believe the food is mediocre at best and even then it might not even be mediocre. I’ve had their chicken soup before nothing special. I think I almost choked on a little bone that time and stopped eating it less than half way through. their tortialls weren’t very good either. I’ve had their Asada plate, on a different occasion because my partner like this place. With that I got through bad pathetic excuse for a piece of dry meat. Kinda sour beans and burnt/dry rice. The couple times I’ve come here the staff seems to have a stick up their ass. Personally I will not choose to come here or order food from here as I don’t find it very good at all. I don’t want to deal with rude people who are unhappy with their jobs. If you just like what you do please educate yourself and do something better. I normally don’t like tearing into a place like this but this place is pretty disappointing.

Stopped by this chicken al carbon place for a take out lunch yesterday because it was right next door to where we were filling up on gas. We ordered a half chicken which comes with the fixings like grilled onion, rice, beans, 4 flour tortillas, limes, red salsa, and dona green hot salsa. We also ordered an order of al pastor pork taquitos. The chicken was very good, pretty much the same kind you get at El Pollo Rico. I liked that their salsa servings were much larger here. The al pastor was good, not great, it was a little dry, but that might be because we didn’t get to eat it until 20 – 30 minutes after picking it up. Al pastor taquitos were really tacos, and not on the small side, they filled them up. They were on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro and came with the same two salsas. Ordered at the drive thru was quick, and the wait time for my food was maybe a couple of minutes after I paid. I love the convenience of this kind of place where you can drive thru(cuz I often have kiddos in the car and getting out of the car to pick up food can be a Herculean effort with kids in tow). And you feel like you are eating real, home cooked food, not fried fast food junk. I would go back if I were in the neighborhood again.

WOW! I am sooo happy i found this place. the tacos here are MASSIVE! this place is located to the side of the gas station. i ordered and picked up at the window, total time like 5 mins. i saw tacos on the menu and when i ordered i said«i’d like 4 tacos» the lady looked at me and said«they are really really big, is it just for you?» i said yes and she said«even 2 is a lot» she sure wasn’t playing this taco looks like 5 tacos in one. i saw it and just laughed, this thing is a taco brick. aside from this places extreme generosity of meat, the meat itself is juicy mouth watering goodness. the meat is perfect. just came straight off the grill and had its hints of smokiness. totally dig this place. i would recommend for large groups due to the portions. also the hot sauce is super creamy and goes great with the spicy jalapenos.

I’m obsessed with, and addicted to, a certain creamy green jalapeño salsa. I first discovered it in Houston and then(to my delight) at Tacodeli here in Austin. When I heard that this place had it – and delicious chicken as well – I immediately put El Pollo Regio on my list. We hit the drive-through, so I can’t speak to the inside ambience. Ordered a half-chicken, which was delivered through the window very promptly by an extremely polite young man. And what a half-chicken it was. Perfectly moist(even the white meat, which I normally eschew). It was accompanied by corn tortillas(like FOUR of them), limes, grilled onions, and of course the amazing salsa. If you’re familiar with al pastor«street tacos,» this is a very similar experience, except with chicken instead of pork. The chicken even has some of the same seasoning as pork al pastor. The main differences were 1) no cilantro was offered, which I consider mandatory, and 2) the onions were grilled instead of raw. I was a bit nervous about the onions, but once I tasted the combination of the grilled onion and the chicken taco(I had taken it home and added my own cilantro), I was nervous no more. It was perfect. This rating should really be a 4.9. I would have given 5 stars if they’d given me cilantro. Can’t wait to go back.

Reminds me of «Los Pollos Hermanos» everytime I drive by. I have been wanting to check this place out for a bit. They are a local Austin chain. They opened up a new location in the old Arby’s off William Cannon and Congress. Thank god, that was the worst Arby’s I have ever been to! The chicken is char-grilled and delicious. I have been two times and enjoyed both of my dishes. The first time, I went was for dinner with a friend. I had the chicken mole enchiladas. They were wonderful. The second time was today and I had their lunch special. This special is more food then you will be able to handle all for only $ 6.99. For that $ 6.99, the plate comes with a good size half chicken, rice, beans, tortillas, and a drink. I highly recommend anyone that is hungry and on a budget to get on this deal!!! Next time, I think I am going to try the carne asada.
