Taco Cabana

If I could leave negative stars I would. I’ve always been a fan of taco cabana and they usually have great customer service. After waiting in line for 15 minutes to even get to the drive through I was told they’re out of brisket — no buggie I change my order to street tacos but I want flour tortillas. Which I’ve had them do before — I’m told we can’t do that. I say are you sure girl at the window says I’m pretty sure we can only give you those on the side. I drive away. Ridiculous and it’s just tacos.

Worst experience ever. I will never be getting taco cabana again in my life. I had ordered 4 breakfast tacos 2 were bean and cheese and the other two were chorizo and egg. The tortillas were hard like a rock and cold. And the bean and cheese had nothing but cheese the size of a quarter and no beans. Like is this a joke? It’s sad that taco cabana can’t get their crap together. How sad.

Stale shells, to go order was thrown in the Styrofoam clamshell, just a mess. I like guac, i like refried beans, i do not like them mixed together at a 1:1 ratio. Get it together.

My family eats here now and then and the food is always amazing, but every time I go into the bathroom it’s always disgusting. Either the toilets are clogged with toilet paper or whatever, or there is always toilet paper and trash all over the ground. Besides that, love the food.

This Taco Cabana puts the one in MLK to shame. The food is always fresh and the service is fast and friendly.

Rarely do we eat at Taco Cabana, but when everything else (except other fast food) is closed on Thanksgiving — it’s a viable option. The one positive we can take from Taco Cabana is there’s value here, as long as you look past the poor quality and flavorless food. While a meal here isn’t going to empty your pocketbook it likely won’t excite your pallet either.
The guacamole is plain and lacks flavor. The chicken and steak is bland. And, while it’s a step better than Taco Bell, you’ll need to be a huge fan of fast food to love this place.

I love Taco Cabana! They are my first Mexican food choice if I can’t make it to an actual restaurant. I love their chicken fajita cabana bowl. I’m only leaving 3 stars because their bathroom is disgusting. I chose to wait until I got home because it stunk horribly and I saw a family of roaches huddled in the corner…

The steak is so tender and so delicious. and it’s consistently tasty! I enjoy the freshness of the veggies, the crispness of the lettuce and how friendly and patient the drive thru workers are with me everytime I come through asking way too many questions! I truly enjoy eating here! Though this place is WAYYYY MORE AUTHENTIC than Taco Bell, I will never order Taco Bell again as long as there’s a Taco Cabana near by! :-)

I grew up in San Antonio, and used to frequent the original Taco Cabana on Hildebrand. My first breakfast taco was from Taco Cabana so it’s my personal benchmark for what a breakfast taco should be. I currently live halfway between the TC at Slaughter and Manchaca and the one at William Cannon and Mopac, and it’s heartbreaking to see the dramatic decline in quality at both of those locations. Thirty-​minute wait times, rosy-​colored water passed off as salsa, dried out eggs and beans, 3 – 5 shreds of cheese per taco, all wrapped up with mediocre customer service.
I had my car serviced today and stopped by this location afterwards, and was teleported back to 1990. Four minutes from ordering to receiving my tacos, thick virtually waterless salsa, and light fluffy tortillas — each packed with fresh delicious ingredients. To top it all off, I was seriously taken aback by the quick cheerful service. I even told the girl who brought my food out how impressive it was and she simply smiled and told me to have a great day.
This location has restored my faith in the brand. My only hope is that the enormous issues at the locations by my home will one day soon be corrected so they can operate like this one.

Worst customer service ever. Waiting in line on a busy Saturday morning, we were next and the cashier walks away. No one was waiting behind us and he couldn’t be bothered to take 1 more order. Took forever to get our food! The Pico at the salsa bar looks like someone doesn’t know how to use a knife. TC you have got to do better!!!

All I can say is do not visit this location the food is terrible I went through the drive thru window and got steak fajitas which consists of steak and tortilla that’s it it was so bad so dry and so old that my two dogs that eat their own poop would not eat the tacos… That’s pretty bad I also ordered two crispy beef tacos… was so hungry I ended up eating one of the crispy tacos… And ended up vomiting immediately after I contacted management he seemed very I’m concerned about his food quality and clearly unsanitary food handling practices when I told him I would no longer be visiting he said okay that’s great… Terrible food terrible service and even worse they’re unsanitary when preparing your food with their dirty hands be careful eating here

Great food and believe me I’m a dedicated customer love when the manager is meal I think is there he makes sure things are up to par n food is fresh!!!

This review is for this taco cabana only. If you walk in and the cashier is Corina WALK OUT. She is rude, she has horrible customer service, You are inconveniencing her by ordering. She was leaning over the counter flirting with the cook when I walked in telling him where she lives and where she likes to party at. It was 10:53pm on May 14^th. She never said hello, how can I help you… nothing then the first 3 things I attempted to order she said we can’t make that right now. No quesadilla. No brisket taco then said nothing grilled «the cook is making breakfast now» ok I will take a egg and cheese taco. Again NO its not breakfast hours yet. I asked what I could have she said «Taco Bell» WTF. Rude I wrote her name down and went to Taco Bell. Customer service is important to me. I too was once a front counter person in high school. I know your job sucks and you don’t make much (which is why I have been know to tip the counter people in fast food restaurants with great customer service skills because I understand the above.) But its not my fault I messed your game by wanting a taco. I called from the taco bell drive thru shortly after, The person who answered the phone could barely speak english so I don’t know if he could understand what I was telling him he just said «ok» no I will take care of it. Nothing. I asked for the General managers name he said Isman then hung up. No last name nothing. Horrible systemic issues all the way around. I love taco cabana but this one has issues.

Don’t get me wrong… I love Taco Cabana but I was not impressed with this particular location. The girl that took my order could barely keep her eyes open. I ordered a cabana bowl and asked for no rice and no beans. It clearly said it on the ticket, but when I got home and opened my bowl there were two big piles of rice and beans. Also while I was waiting for my to go order a roach crawled across the counter where they set your food to pick it up. Yum. I probably won’t visit this location again anytime soon.

Ok this one is a mix bag tell 5 I would give them 4 starts however the drive threw at night makes me wish you could blow buildings up

This place has always made me happy whether I stop here for an early breakfast or a late night snack I’m always very pleased. Also they have happy hour 1.99 margaritas! Yummy and they are strong!

I am actually quite impressed with this Taco Cabana.
People/​Service: Always with a smile here. The people mostly speak english and they are always really nice people. They do a good job with hiring here. My order has never been wrong here either and the food is always what you would expect. I definitely go here over and over.
Food: They just changed a lot of things at Taco Cabana and they have a bunch of new salsa bar options that are really cool. Also the salsa bar, I am very particular about these. Is always fresh with new ice all the time. The food is as I said, what you expect. I have been to other Taco Cabanas and they haver seriously lacked. this is probably the best here.
Access: This place is actually really hard to get to. You have to go down a hill to get in and people SPEED through this place, which is the worst. Or you can go on a side road, to a side road to through another fast food place to here, not the best.
Ambience: Its a little run down, they could probably do a bit better.
Mexican Coke: 4 out of 5. Why? Because they dont have the LEGITIMATE mexican coke. Although, they keep these ones in ice, which is aweseom before they give it to you. Plus, gotta love a fast food place that hands out tecate with your meal if you want.

Lady serving us was rude and kept talking to the other employees while we were ordering. We had to repeat our order several times before she was paying enough attention to actually take it. Even then, our final order was completely messed up. Normally I love Taco Cabana, but this location was something else! A friendly atmosphere between employees is fun, but at least make sure to get the order right.
Also, the time we went every drink from the soda machine was incredibly flat. Not sure if that’s usual, but it did not help the experience.

Previous comments are true in my experience. This location is passable during the day, questionable at night.
Pros: salsa bar (the only reason I go)
Cons: new menu layout is stupid, the food is edible but doesn’t actually taste that good. I’ve had stale chips, low syrup in drink dispenser, old cilantro, thick tortillas, too much rice, gross guacamole and sour cream, etc. The employees always seem unhappy and apathetic; I feel like I’m supporting slavery. Floors are often dirty in kitchen, and I got sick after eating here recently.
Conclusion: Consistently lame– go someplace else.

we went through the drive through and as we were thinking of what we wanted to order, the kid kept saying «come on, hurry up» on the speaker. he must not have realized the mic was turned on. as we get to the window, I had took a sip of my soda and it was regular when i had requested diet. when we asked him for a diet he argued with us and quickly shut the window to get us the correct one, as i was watching him, it looked like he was doing something to my drink, like putting something in it.
we had asked to speak to a manager and some lady came over and really didnt give two shits about our complaint and never apologized. instead she had a grin on her face the whole time like it was one big joke.
both of these employees do not deserve to have a job.
