I LOVE this place. I have been frequenting here for years now and am always pleased. As with most sushi restaurants I have ever been to the experience gets better the more you show up. When I show up now the owner /sushi chef comes from behind the counter and gives me a hug moments later his wife comes by with free miso soup. Most of the dishes are really inexpensive and even the sashimi is VERY reasonable. Although I have tried many things on the menu at this point I get the same thing every time I go: The 20 piece sashimi plate for $ 25. EDIT09.16.10: The place changed owners quite some time ago and then changed again. From what I understand the original owners moved up to Boston to be closer to their daughter while she attends school there. I will say that the original owners actually called me to invite me to come in before they left and introduced me to their family, which was pretty awesome. ANYWAY — The service now is WAY sub-par as well as the portions and quality of the food. The only thing that went up is the prices. I am very disappointed to see such a great little place go downhill like this. :/ I have been back twice just to make sure and both times was severely let down on both occasions. RIP Express, you will be missed. :(

Like sushi for lunch, but hate dropping a ton of cash? This place was a happy little discovery. You can get tea, soup, and a lunch sushi combo for about $ 10. I think the lunch sushi combos are about $ 6.99. It’s always been pretty fresh and tasty(though not fancy). And the veggie plate my coworker got today was apparently really good with perfect tofu. I don’t know why I have this thing for hole-in-the-wall sushi joints, but once someone takes me there once and I survive, it’s all good. I mean, dive + sushi should never go together, but I digress… So that being said, don’t expect ambience. It’s a mom and pop shop with bright yellow tables and a TV that always seems to be blaring Springer or Court TV. The lack of stars comes from one visit where I went solo and was basically ignored until a chunk of my lunch hour was used up, so I left(they had several big parties) and one other time when my coworker’s glass of water smelled like bleach(um, yeah…).
