I went to Firesoul with a group of friends as we were barhopping on the Eastside last weekend. We had a few people in our group that lean vegetarian/pescatarian, so we decided to try the Fiery Vegan Corn Dog, which all of us thought was pretty awful. Tasted exactly how’d you expect a Tofurkey sausage in cornbread batter and defried to taste. Pretty bad. The tofurkey sausage at least needs to be friend first or something! And we shared an order of the«Avocado Fries,» which we were expecting to be slices of avocado fried or baked. But instead it was a piece of avocado wrapped in the cornbread batter from the corn dogs. They looked like avocado Hamentashen(except that that sounds like a good idea, actually). They were pretty bad, too. Anyway, the three of us that ordered from Firesoul(and everyone that tasted our food) were a lot less satisifed with our food than those who ate at the other food trucks in the lot. Generally disappointed. Wouldn’t order from there again.

Every time I come here, they go above and beyond. Their burgers are always juicy, toasty, and succulent. Good fires(the owned is so decent, that they’ve given me sweet potato fries, even when I decided not to get them because of the extra $ 1). Damnit, they’re worth every penny. Decent price, good portions, excellent taste. Try them!

I get the chicken sandwiches. They are really really good. The wraps are good too. Have a great day.

Maybe not«life changing» as their menu states, but their pork sandwich was really good and their fries were solid. I’d recommend asking for extra sauce with the sandwich. They have a bevy of other good looking comfort type food items on their menu worth giving a try. The woman working the truck when I was there was really nice too and helpful with suggestions on what to order.

I used to always get their vegan corn dog when I was in college. I went back this weekend after not having had any for two years, and it was amaaaazing. Also, the service was awesome. I made the mistake of ordering«a fiery corn dog» without specifying the vegan part. I caught my mistake after I had paid and they had started preparing my food. I let the girl working know and she was really nice about changing my order, which I reallyyyyy appreciate. So yeah, I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m on the Eastside.

Reading all these reviews I thought we had committed Unilocal Suicide by ordering from this food truck, especially when all the food trucks in the area have better ratings. This meal was anything but a suicide. I pretty much had a food revival in my mouth. The crispy fried chicken was dancing on my palate while the spicy aioli serenaded my tonsils(yeah I’ve still got them). Lady friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I’m pretty sure she literally CAMETOJESUS. If you believe in the power of pulled pork and the sanctity of fried chicken served with crispy fries then bask in the love that is Fire Soul.

I went here about a month ago with some friends, and after loads of procrastinating, I’m finally writing a review! I ordered the Fried Chicken Club with some fries on the side(regular fries — very tasty, but next time, I’ll definitely try the sweet potato fries). I had been craving both a club sandwich AND fried chicken for the last few days, and suddenly, I had found the happy marriage of the two at Firesoul, so I absolutely had to have it! The sandwich was huge, and everything tasted fresh and delicious! Fried chicken is a guilty pleasure for many, including me, but it’s rare that I find fried chicken I don’t feel guilty about eating, and this chicken was one such rare case. The chicken was moist and tender on the inside, without being greasy on the outside. The gentleman running the food trailer for the night was awesome! He was witty, patient, and very helpful! He even brought our food out to us — we would have been more than willing to pick it up, ourselves, but that was a really nice gesture. He teased us relentlessly(playfully, of course) as we tried to decide what to order, and we could hardly keep a straight face! I feel so terrible for not catching his name, but whoever he was, thank you! :)

I love, love, love this place. The food is always super fresh and prepared to order. Everything has great flavor! Great food for an even better price! Also, the staff is super friendly! Try the turkey avocado wrap, for sure! Or the BBQ. Or the burgers. ALLOFIT! Definitely recommend!

Great food and great services. The pricing was a good value. I had a hamburger which was delicious despite being a bit overcooked. The fixings included your typical tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, and onion and all tasted fresh. I wouldn’t recommend their bacon(it tasted microwaved). French fries were crisp and simply salted. Tip: we were given off the menu sweet potato fries, and they are fantastic. I would definitely order those over the regular fries. Great atmosphere too!

Not good. Eager to eat everything in sight after a long flight delay and landing in Austin at about 1:30AM, I crossed the street over to this truck after ordering some pizzas at the much better option of Via 313 to see if this truck had anything good to try while I waited. Passing on some of the more typical options, I ordered the Fried Avocados($ 8.50). I figured they must be good, because avocados on their own are so fatty and delicious that frying them in more fat must only improve things. Sadly, I was way off, and these were some of the blandest things I’ve ever tasted. The fact that something with so much fat and calories could be so tasteless was actually very surprising. Do not waste yourself on these. At least it came with some fresh, hot fries, right? Unfortunately, these pale potatoes were extremely underdone and had no crispness nor flavor. Especially given how incredible the pizza is at the truck across the street, I would skip this place.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. I don’t know what anyone with positive reviews is talking about. Service was slow and moody. A dirty looking girl in a shabby trailer taking orders. Not even kidding, I thought someone had hijacked the the Fire Soul truck to serve over priced terrible food. I came here during the Wednesday of south by south west around noon. It was a slow day, not a crazy sxsw rush day. Side note: my BF and some of his friends have been here before and were shocked by our experience. They said that in the past they’ve had sweet potato fries and a great pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast… none of these items were available to order when my BF and I stopped by on this particular day. Maybe this was due to a special limited menu for sxsw but either way, if you’re serving something you should be serving quality food and serve it with joy and passion for your job. If you don’t want to be in the service industry, don’t open a god damn food truck. We ordered the fiery vegan dog, cheeseburger and the fried avocado. The total with tip came to $ 30 and we waited for over 20 minutes for our food when there was literally no line. When we finally got our food it looked like something you would get at Jack in the Box or some place of similar caliber. I took one bite into my «vegan» dog to find a sausage that tasted an awful lot like meat. I went back to double check with the girl that it indeed was vegan and she assured me that yes, it was. I really don’t think it was. The corn dog breading was grainy and had nothing fiery about it. It was flavorless and extremely greasy. The fries that were served with the dog looked like they came from a terrible fast food restaurant(Wendy’s has better fries than these)… I can’t think of anything to compare them to because I don’t know that I’ve had fries that bad. I felt really bad for my BF who ordered a cheeseburger which looked literally like a school lunch cafeteria cheeseburger(he said it smelled and tasted like it too). He asked for it without lettuce and tomato but it came with lettuce and tomato. The fried avocado was served with a side of the same disgusting fries as the dog. It’s hard to mess up avocado… the avocado pieces themselves were ripe and delicious(thank you, mother nature) but the breading on it was the same as the corn dog breading so it was similarly flavorless and greasy. After taking one bite of everything I was so frustrated and disappointed as was my BF who just kept taking sad bites of his burger. I wanted to ask for a refund but didn’t want to bother… I have never in recent memory had such a bad meal and I have never not finished a meal. After one bite of my «vegan» dog and a few bites of avocado, I threw it all away and we went on to search for something else with the taste of cheap grease in our mouths and setting uneasily in our stomachs. I never ever want to come back here and would tell everyone to stay far away. Disgusting. And a disgrace to the good name of food trucks in Austin.

Ordered two turkey wraps. They ran out of aioli, so they were just plain wraps. Honestly the wrap seemed like something you would get from a gas station(turkey nothing special etc). Service not friendly either. Not impressed for 18 bucks.

I was disappointed when the truck disappeared for a while but now it’s back! A vegan corndog is the most appealing thing ever when I’m out drinking on East 6th, even more so than Via 313 Pizza which I also love. I don’t even like vegan hotdogs but the breading here is just so good that I tolerate the fake meat inside.

Firesoul were the only guys in this east Austin food trailer park dishing out a sweet-potato fry option last Saturday night, and thus unwittingly entered the unending A-town sweet-potato fry competition in my brain. I’d have to say they did not measure up, but they came out swinging. Firesoul prides itself on some spiciness, and on that count they were relatively spicy… the fries themselves seemed to be doused in some kind of spicy dust. Yet the fries themselves in body and shape were eh… like they were potato fry remnants. True, I might just have been unlucky in the timing of my fry purchase that evening, but it really wasn’t that late yet.(They definitely did not look like the fries in the attached Unilocal photo.) Firesoul offered me 3 dipping sauces — a) a jalapeño aioli, b) mustard curry, and c) regular ‘olé ketchup. The aioli was eh, and sorta spicy. The mustard curry was somewhat spicy, and pretty decent. The ketchup was ketchup. My service was timely and the people in the truck were pretty nice, so there’s that. Anyhow, when it comes to sweet potato fries, I really feel like fry quality itself trumps just about anything else you can add on the side(although I once ate at a storefront in downtown NYC where they just sold different quantities of standard french fries — but offered like 50 sauces. Seriously.) I am certain if I had been wasted I would have probably ordered another batch of these to make doubly sure, but in my totally lucid state I had to say — striketh one, Firesoul. (possible +.5 star: they were also offering ‘Voltron Fries’, which is, I believe, mac n cheese on top of chili cheese fries, which doesn’t appeal to me, but you know has got to sound frakkin’ amazing to the roving Austin intoxicated).

I have to agree, almost word-for-word, with Lucas’ review: a PRICEY turkey avocado wrap that I could have made at home, and I would have included less than half the lettuce. I also waited a long time, considering it was past lunchtime and I was the only customer! The only thing good about this«meal» was the curry mustard, which again, I could(and definitely should!) have made at home, and which doesn’t even come with – i asked for a substitution for the aioli. It’s places like this that make me so damned wary of food trucks – they’re definitely romanticized, and I rarely walk away from one wanting to come back(Gourdough’s definitely the exception). Firesoul was an experiment, one I won’t be repeating.

Food truck food at its finest. Everything is fresh and delicious. If you are the type that likes to eat at old, crappy picnic tables that are around a little campfire eating fantastic food(me! me! me!), this is the place for you.

When we got to this East Side food trailer park, we were having a hard time deciding which place to eat at. The deciding factor was the tip jar in front of Firesoul, which read ITPUTSTHETIPSINTHEJARORELSEITGETSTHEHOSEAGAIN(«Silence of the Lambs» fans please stand up). I knew I had to eat there. Luckily, it turned out to be pretty good. I got the pulled pork sandwich, which came with fries and a drink, for like $ 8.50. Other than being a little on the burned side, the sandwich was delicious. The fries weren’t bad either, so it was all good.

Stopped here after having a few drinks at Cheer Up Charlie’s. I was really impressed with the sweet potato fries. They were hot and perfectly crunchy. I decided to try the fried avocados that come with a jalapeño aoili. The aoili had a great kick and complimented the fried avocados perfectly. The avocado was fresh and a beautiful green and then covered in a delicious, sweet batter. My friend got a very very yummy pork sandwich that reminded me a lot of a panini the way it was toasted. The pork was amazing. My friend wasn’t real sure he’d like it since pork is his last option when it comes to meats, but he even said it was delicious. The guys running the trailer were very friendly, and we got our food very fast. I was really surprised at how together they were. For it being almost 1 in the morning they still had a good crowd.

I’ve only been to this food trailer once, but I’m not sure I’ll be back in a hurry. My boyfriend and I ordered the jalapeño poppers(among other things). The jalapenos were stuffed full of cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Always a good idea. EXCEPT when they aren’t seeded at all. I’m new to spicy food in the last 4 years or so and can handle a decent bit of heat, but these were so spicy I literally couldn’t eat them. When I mentioned it to the guy working in the truck, he did not seem particularly apologetic(at all). Instead he said something like, oh must’ve missed that one. We ordered some other things on the menu(that I don’t remember), which obviously don’t stand out to me, but weren’t terrible. After this experience I would be inclined to give this place two stars, but since I’ve only been once, I reserve the bad rating for later.
