I’ve gotta say, this place knows what’s up. Great service, relaxing ambiance, & most importantly… Spec-freaking-tacular Vietnamese food. I’ve been to my fair share of Asian restaurants, & man does this one blow most of em away. To start off, our waiter, Matthew, was so adorable & happy. He was patient and answered all of our questions & reassured us that we could swap out food if we didn’t enjoy our dish. They give you crispy won-tons with sweet and sour sauce to start you off on the house! Hot and sour soup was exploding with flavor, general tso chicken was lathered with spicy, thick sauce & perfectly tender, sweet & sour pork was nicely battered & tender. Lunch specials are served with soup, fried/steamed rice, an egg roll, & a main lunch entrée for only $ 6.95−7.50. Those are unbeatable prices for that amount of QUALITY food. I know, it sounds too good to be true, but believe me when I say… You will walk out of this restaurant content with a full belly, without having your wallets assaulted. Go support this place & the people that run it! ^.^

This place is our local Chinese food and I’m happy we found it. We usually go pick up the food, as their delivery runs about 1 hour behind, but it’s worth it. My wife usually orders Sweet and Sour Chicken or General Tso. Both are quiet delicious. I always steal some pieces. I usually order the Fried Dumplings, best in Austin, and their Combination Noodles. We have also tried their Mo Shu Pork which is amazing. Finally for New Year’s they included chicken wings for free and now I’m obsessed with them. They are super crispy and tasty. They must marinate them with something. Whatever it is, I’ll take it.

Shrimp and candied walnuts was amazing… And they are so nice and down to earth unlike many other Austin eateries… I actually can’t wait to come back to try the hot pots… The wonton chips they give complementary were so good too…

Couldn’t think of anything that could have made it a better experience. We arrived during a busy lunch hour and got seated immediately. Drinks were on the table within 5 minutes and our food was out fast. My coworker and I only had an hour for lunch and the waiter was prompt without making us feel rushed or hurried. I really enjoyed my Sesame Chicken and the Crab Rangoons were awesome. For both an appetizer and two lunch specials our bill came out to under $ 20. I will definitely be back!

Definitely better than other«Chinese» food I’ve had in Austin, but a little out of the way for me. I had a wonton soup and shrimp fried rice, but little did I know this was enough to feed an entire family. The wonton soup was extremely bland, but that may be due to my extremely high wonton expectations. Either way, I would not order that again. The shrimp fried rice on the other hand did NOT skimp on anything, and provided me with meals for days! The food was perfectly cooked and help up well. Lots of flavor and great quality.

Get the lunch specials until 3pm for cheap. Triple Delight and Twice Sauteed Pork were both hot and fresh. Everything is very homemade tasting. Wonton soup was a tad bland but rich broth and handmade wontons. Hot and sour soup was ordinary. Dowdy interior but clean, good service. Great value for the money.

I love this place. I refuse to go to any other Chinese restaurant in this price range. They offer delivery as well. Simply can not be beat!

These guys are awesome for pick-up or delivery. You can even eat there if you want to. We often get their lunch specials as they are very reasonably priced! We really enjoy their hot and sour soup, chicken wings, crab puffs and egg rolls(and hot mustard sauce) as appetizers. We also enjoy their General Tso’s chicken, Beef/Chicken Lomein, Sweet & Sour Chicken(or pork), Chicken/Beef with vegetables, Triple Delights, Chicken fried rice, and Beef/Chicken w/Broccoli among others. The portions are large for lunch! And they’re even bigger for dinner! This is our go-to place for our neighborhood for Chinese food and I have been eating here for years. I like to try different things when I order here. I can’t think of a dish I haven’t liked.

We called in our order and was told 15 mins. We got there in 20 and the food was coming out fresh and hot. The lady at the front had a bad look on her face and seemed annoyed. Ohhh weeellllllll… Gimme my yummie food and I’ll be outta your way. They’ve got some seriously good Americanized Chinese food. I’ve tried the beef and bean sprouts, crab puffs, chicken wings, and the combination fried rice. All were very good. The phone system does suck. I had to try over 5 times on different phones just to get through. Get the attitudes and phones fixed and you’ll have one of the best no frills Chinese spots in south Austin.

Just a friendly local Chinese restaurant. The food wasn’t anything spectacular but it was still good nonetheless. The service was great our server was funny and everyone looked to be having a good time. Easy on the wallet and the food is filling.

Listen, I’ve had a no good craptastic week. I have an hour and a half until I’m able to get back in my house which is being renovated after becoming a hell hole after the recent flooding in Austin. So I needed to pass time and there were 3 options: 1) go to the gym 2) go do some yoga 3) stuff my stomach with Chinese food. So, here we are and I am unashamed. I decided to opt for the«complete dinner.» Where for an additional 2.50, you get a choice of soup, an egg roll and pineapple chunks as dessert. And for my entrée? Extra spicy general tso chicken with fried rice. It’s Texas — -it was roughly 68 degrees outside — which qualified as chilly for me. So I dug into the wonton soup first. The broth was pretty salty. Enough for me to know that about an hour later, I’d be chugging water. And the wontons didn’t have too much flavor. But my Texas chill made the warmth of it, rather comforting. The egg roll was pretty lukewarm, and as egg rolls go — standard. When I ordered the General tso chicken extra spicy, the waiter, said: excellent order. That’s a very good order. When he delivered it to me — he said: awesome order choice. I decided we were now friends. Now the entrée is where it got good. REALLY well done. The fried rice wasn’t too overwhelming but flavorful. And the chicken had a good crispy crunch, softness inside and sweet kick to it. Solid. Very solid. The chicken sauce had this sort of ruby red glow to it. Very pretty but I’m sure that doesn’t bode to well on the health factor — -but I mean, you’re eating Chinese… so either commit or go home. Ok? Over all — the entrée was a solid 4. So I’m going with that rating. I’d skip the appetizers, unless you get the crab puffs. Bc … Those things are like finding gold in your mouth no matter where you order them.

I had my gf order food for take out 30 minutes ago, just to hear that they got the order wrong. I’m not much to gripe but it’s been more than an hour since we ordered and now she’s waiting at the restaurant for them to get the order right. I don’t give a care of how the food is but this is the last time they get our business.

I’m usually not one who gripes about service but I’ve never been so disappointed by a restaurant until today. First off, they need to get more staff. The wait time for anyone to pick up a phone is insane. They often randomly close the restaurant without letting their customers know and we waste our time driving here. Secondly, they need staff that gives any shits. I’ve been waiting 30 minutes for them to get my order wrong. Now I’m sitting here for another God knows how long. Lastly, I wouldn’t order delivery here. There’s been good that’s been sitting there waiting for delivery since before I got here. Yumm. I don’t care how good this food is. I am not coming back. There are a million other places within delivery radius so save yourself some time.

I lived in the apartments down the street and First Wok was my go to hangover remedy. I would wake up with my make up still on from the night before, stumble to the phone and within 20 minutes, someone was at my door with egg drop soup and veggie lo mein. They didn’t judge my life choices, they just handed me my noodles and smiled. Being a 20 something and living in this town, that happened more often than I would like to admit. It’s a cute restaurant that’s tucked away on Stassney, I’ve never actually eaten inside, I always take my food to go or have it delivered. It’s hands down the best chinese food in South Austin. The Lo Mein is the right level of salty and greasy, the fried rice is amazing and my male carnivore dates are always satisfied with their dishes. Since moving out of South Austin I eat here less frequently but I’ll make the trip further south more often.

The restaurant was so dark inside it almost seemed as they’re closed down… To be honest, it looked like they’re not well kept and kind of sketchy. We stuck to something simple and ordered the combination fried rice, shrimp fried rice, and the corn velvet soup. They were good, tasted like any other fried rice from an Asian restaurant. The soup was good also, I liked the natural sweet taste of corn because some places make the soup real concentrated and comes out salty. Our servers were sooooooo nice. He was smiley and attentive the whole entire time even if they were busy and had other tables to handle. We could tell the they were hard working people and really tried to make the time to converse and joke around with us while we were there. Even if the food wasn’t «amazing», we had a good time dining here because of our servers! The prices were reasonable but the main part that I wasn’t fond of this place was that the restaurant just looked undone and super dim. Other than that, I’d say this place was okay.

I love your food, but your phone system is terrible. I’ve been on the phone since 7:11pm trying to give y’all my money. Sometimes it rings 20 times with no answer, sometimes it’s a busy signal, sometimes it’s something telling me that the line has been terminated, and sometimes it’s a computer that asks for my name… then nothing happens. FIX. YOUR. PHONE. SYSTEM. I would order from you more, and I would’ve given you 5 stars if your phones worked… But instead, you’ve lost my business tonight. I’m ordering from Bamboo Bistro.

Hubby and I were craving some Chinese that wasn’t a buffet, going with reviews from Unilocal and our location, came here. So happy we did! They had lunch specials and I went with Szechuan Beef and he got General Tso’s chicken with both opting for hot and sour soup. Service was top notch and food outstanding. Wish we lived closer but will definitely be back when in South Austin! Give them a try!

When I first moved to Austin I moved into some apartments pretty close to this place and my roommate was a fan. We would often have food delivered. I have never actually eaten inside. Delivery is always pretty fast and reliable. I still live in the south Austin area and have branched out some, but to be honest none of the Chinese delivery places are as good as First Wok in my opinion. My go to items for delivery are the sweet and sour chicken, General Tso’s chicken and beef and broccoli. I have tried a handful of other things too and they are all good. I feel like recently the General Tso’s chicken as been amazing. It is rich and sweet, but I am loving it currently! The food is always packaged and tied up well which is appreciated too. The food here is the typical American Chinese/Asian food so come here or order from here expecting that and you should be pleased.

Don’t let the divey look stop you from giving this place a try! Very simple décor and atmosphere but the food and service were great. We’re in from out of town and saw the good reviews from Unilocal and decided this was our spot for dinner. My husband and I split a cup of Hot n Sour soup and egg rolls before moving on to the Triple Crown entrée which was beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables in a brown sauce. It was delicious. The two servers that waited on us were both friendly and funny. They kept bantering back and forth which kept us chuckling. I have to say the best part of the meal were the homemade fried wontons. They were crispy, wide, thick and delicious! When you dip them in the sweet n sour sauce it tastes like a crispy pastry dessert. They were little strips of goodness!
