Four Sons Quality Cleaners

I wish I had read the reviews of this place before going, but I needed a pair of pants altered for this weekend, when I went to drop off I had to wait around in the parking lot for about 15 minutes because they closed for a ‘bathroom break’ according to the song on the door. I thought that was fine though because most likely with only one person in their they had to lock up for a break. I got fitted for my pants, handed them to the woman working, and asked for a quote in the cost for the alterations, she said $ 26 which seemed steep for a hem and to adjust the waist, but what do I know? Then when I picked them up today, the tag said $ 35.30, and I was charged $ 38.30! What the hell? I was charged $ 12 more than quoted, and it wasn’t even what was on the tag?! When I asked the woman (ever so pleasant) said ‘you can come talk to her tomorrow.’ And while I can’t go in person, I will be calling. This place is a total sham.

The people who work here are terrible and inconsiderate. I was there 5 minutes late trying to get some dress pants I desperately needed for the day after but the employees would not give em to me. What was she doing… counting change from the cash register staring at me. I even offered to pay extra. Terrible service, DO NOT GO HERE!

Good cleaners unfortunately the only bad experience I had was that you have to tell them to dry clean your clothing otherwise they will wash them in the machine. I learned of this after my pants looked and felt as if they had been washed and not dry cleaned; shirts as well and my clothes are expensive.

My vintage super delicate gown was perfect when it came out of there. I had also brought a couple of pairs of jeans and dresses for alteration, and whatever the fabric or request, everything came out beautiful. Will definitely be taking all my stuff there. Reasonable pricing and prompt too.
dropping 2 stars, because I went in with a dress to have it fitted and when i tried it on it was tight in the wrong places and loose in others. When I pointed the problem out they said they couldn’t do anything. Guess I’ll stick to cleaning services and find another place for alterations.

Did a good job getting my filthy shirts clean and their prices are reasonable. I will be a regular here.

I love the ladies who work at Four Sons. I love the way they clean my clothes. I love the fact they recycle the plastic bags and wire hangers. I love that in the ten years I’ve brought my clothes to Four Sons, I’m wowed with the quality of work they do. I love Four Sons for being open until 4:00 pm on Saturdays, and I love my clothes are consistently ready tomorrow after 5:00 pm. And I really love the way they make my clothes look good, every time.

My clothes got cleaner. No noticeable stains or dirt. Very few wrinkles. Fast delivery of 2 – 3 days. Good price of about $ 11/​suit. Convenient hours. They took good care of my suits and button-​down shirts on 2 occasions.

I always, always bring my clothes here to be dry cleaned. I’m always a bit miffed at their prices, but they’re really very reasonable if you flash one of their website coupons. They’ve never damaged anything or lost anything.

There are much better places to go in Austin with better customer service and clearer communication for your dry cleaning needs. And cheaper!
Last week, I went to the location on 35^th Street to have a dress dry cleaned. I was told I’d have it back by the end of the day, no problem. When I went back for it, they didn’t have it and told me it was still at the main cleaners’ location on Guadalupe, being handwashed. If I’d wanted it handwashed, I would have done so myself, and saved myself the time and money! I told this to the woman at the front, who said she understood, but didn’t offer me any solution to the problem other than that I would have to return the next day to pick up the dress. I refused to pay the handwashing price, and ended up paying the dry cleaning price instead, although it was strange that I’d have to pay for a service I didn’t actually recieve.
They should have comped the price, since they didn’t do what I had asked them to do, and it took twice as long to return the item to me as promised (resulting in me not being able to wear the dress to the event I needed it for). I won’t be going back here, even though it’s less than 5 minutes from where I work.

OK. First I am a picky mofo when it comes to drycleaners. This comes from using them for about about 30 years all around the country. The first thing I say to a new cleaners on my first day is this «I have two pet peeves — missing buttons and lost clothes. If you take care of these two issues, I will be a customer for life.» Rarely have I found a cleaner who manages to maintain on both counts. Admittedly, my relationship with Four Sons is relatively new (only 4 months) but so far so good. The prices are not cheap but reasonable. And I hope this review doesn’t jinx them, but they are on track to enter rarefied air… a good reasonably priced cleaners. If you are in the University/​West Campus/​Hyde Park area, check them out.

Great service and veary reasonable prices!

Do not go here. Three years ago, I took two white shirts to dry clean. The shirts were not as white as they used to be, and Four Sons suggested a special chemical treatment. One of the shirts, made from cotton, responded very well to the treatment. The other shirt, made from silk, came back discolored with yellow spots all over the shirt. If Four Sons had read the tags before dry cleaning, they would have known that the silk shirt was not supposed to be chemically treated. When I confronted them about this, they were rude — even though the idea was suggested to me by them. They refused to refund me any money for the damage, telling me the dry cleaning was done at my own risk. When I told them the shirt cost $ 190, they accused me of lying. When I told them the shirt was only 6 months old, they again accused me of lying. I was finally able to produce a receipt to confirm my claims. Only then did they refund me a measly $ 50 for the shirt, and this was done only after some hard negotiations. How a business responds to mistakes will tell you much more about that company than how they treat you when things are fine. In this case, Four Sons was unapologetic, rude, and indignant. Do not go here.

If you’re into getting ripped off and condescended, you should definitely come to Four Sons. My sister came here to get her white prom dress pressed. She had asked them for a price, but the woman at the front said that she couldn’t give her an actual number. What?
In response, my sister asked if it was going to be expensive (she expected $ 50 tops), and the woman said «no, not at all.» Come Wednesday, we walk in to pick up her dress, and the price tag comes out to be $ 101 after using her coupon. TO GET A DRESS PRESSED. Very politely, we ask her about the price and tell her that we’re a little confused as to why it’s so much higher than we were expecting. She tells us that wedding dresses are priced differently at a starting fee of $ 150. My sister tells her that it’s not a wedding dress, but a prom dress that happens to be white. Immediately, the woman at the counter gets defensive and incredibly rude. «It’s not my fault you didn’t tell me it wasn’t a wedding dress.» «You should have told us. That’s on you. That’s on you.»
Excuse me. Since when do you assume something is a wedding dress just because it’s white? And whatever happened to customer service? We weren’t even rude until all three women – let’s use that term loosely– in the front ganged up on us and said that it WAS a wedding dress, even if it was going to be used for a formal. Just to give you an idea of the ridiculous treatment we received, here are some free samples:
«I don’t mean to be mean, but you have to learn your lesson.»
«You have to tell us if something isn’t a wedding dress. How are we supposed to know?»
«There’s nothing we can do about the price.»
And to top it all off, the dress wasn’t even that well pressed! So save yourself the disrespect, trouble, and hassle of lugging your clothes here for quality service… because you won’t find it.

Some of the times I’ve gone to Four Sons, they’ve done an OK job dry cleaning. Other times, not so much. The biggest two problems I have are the «customer is never right» attitude of the employees and that their prices are not good. Why be condescending to someone bringing you a $ 250 dry cleaning order?

Umm… this place is ridiculously expensive. and I guess they can get away with it since there aren’t too many cleaners around campus and college students are lazy enough to pay for convenience.
I brought in my boyfriend’s shirt, for the first time, and the lady at the counter was quite rude and assuming when she was taking my information to save into the computer.
And although they had the shirt done in a timely manner, etc. I don’t think its worth almost 5 dollars to get a SHIRT done !

Friendly service, fair prices, good job on alterations

Just got a huge dry cleaning order done here. And… no messed up shirts or other gaffes to report. Service is quick and friendly. Have been before for quick cleaning jobs over the years, but they just became my «regular» cleaners. My suits were hung nicely with spacers for coat buttons and cardboard hanger passing for shoulders. Everything clean and neatly pressed on my whole order as it always has been on smaller orders. Best cleaners in campus area.

I’d never presume to be an expert on dry cleaning services, but I feel that I’ve had an average consumer’s exposure to a variety of dry cleaning establishments. And as much as I hate to do it, I’ve gotta say this place is just OK. The service was fairly friendly, albeit contrived, and not particularly high quality. I brought in a Suit Jacket to be dry cleaned. It had some food stains, and, I won’t lie, I let it sit around in my car for a few weeks before finally coming in, but the request seemed fairly obvious. Well when I finally came back to pick up the jacket, the woman helping me popped it onto the rack and quickly processed my ticket. For whatever strange reason, I decided to inspect the jacket, which is something i rarely ever do, as I expect a basic quality of service, and in this case, simply a clean jacket. As it turned out, the jacket wasn’t clean. I pointed it out and it was hastily taken to the back to be spot cleaned, but not exactly with a smile on their face (which is why I usually don’t bother with inspecting stuff and end up with a subpar product). But, spot cleaned and all, the jacket is at least presentable; Not perfect, but presentable.
The place is a bit discombobulated. Messy, a film of dust covering most everything, and an unfortunate location at the corner of 30^th and guadalupe make this place a little less than accessible. I was happy to throw these local kids my business, but I think I’ll be moving on to other cleaners.

Eco Clean ruined my dress and sent me to this rat hole to have their ‘alteration specialist’ to fix my dress.
Eco Clean was either pay for the dress or send it to their alteration specialist.
I told Eco Clean I will pick up the dress, take it to the alteration specialist that they work with and meet with the alteration specialist to specify what she needed to fix so that we do not have any problems with communication.
Even though she did not speak English, she understood that there are holes and she needed to patch it. I pointed, she nodded. For a minute, I made sure she understood what I said. The other ladies translated, the whole staff understood what they needed to do.
I even gave them an extra week to make sure the job was done — correctly.
When I went to pick it up, not only their alteration specialist did not sew the buttons on seamlessly
– SHE DIDN’T EVEN USE THE SAME COLOR THREAD!
Their response, ’ She went every where and could not find the color thread.‘
You can’t call me and have me search every where myself for the same color thread? You don’t think I won’t notice deep turquoise color dress with royal blue thread? Really?
I could have done this job myself, intoxicated and it would look more professional than theirs.
Worse, the other ladies in the cleaners turned their backs on me and said, ‘She said, that is the best she could do.‘
And they continued on fumbling with their receipts and calculators.
This is the quality and customer service Four Sons delivered, the most disappointing service from ’ a well-​established, family-​run business founded on the basis of exceptional quality…’ business.
This place makes me sick.

I feel strange writing a positive review of this place in face of the other two highly negative reviews, but I feel like I had pretty good transactions here.
Be forewarned that I know absolutely nothing about dry-​cleaning or the process involved or what the difference would be between a quality job and piss poor work. To quote seinfeld… the only dry cleaning I understand involves extensive use of the fingernails.
The main reason I am giving this place BIG UPS (am I even allowed to use this phrase anymore?) is because the two or three times I have been completely retarded and put off getting my suit drycleaned until the day before an interview, this is only place I could find near UT who would do it for the very next morning, and they consistently delivered that on time.
