My Cleaners & Alterations

After going to the same alterations place for years, I was really disappointed to discover that my alterations person had moved away. There are very few places that do this kind of work in town, so I felt pretty discouraged. I was trying to find something Central, so I googled alterations in my zip code and found My Cleaners and Alterations. I was able to have a fitting done on a Saturday (the last person I worked with was only available M-​W) and my clothes were ready a week later. The staff were very polite and professional. The alterations were done well and competitively priced. I brought my son when I picked up my clothes the following Saturday and they gave him a small pack of gummi bears and let him sit on the counter, he was delighted! I will definitely go back for future alterations, it is so convenient and they did a great job.

Lost my clothes. Rather than reimbursing for loss or accommodating in any way, they told me «it happens» and that they don’t want me coming back.
Horrible service, avoid this place like the plague.

The owners are the employees and the elder man is rude and his integrity as a businessman is horrible. I not only had an issue with my dry cleaning but when I asked him to redo it, he wanted to charge me again. You get what you pay for. Stay away.

I have found a dry cleaner that I can trust. I went to My Cleaners & Alterations after another dry cleaner quickly said they «couldn’t guarantee» the pressing on a jacket. The jacket has 2 pleats on the cuffs and 4 pleats on the pockets. When I brought it in to My Cleaners & Alterations, one person studied it for a bit, then consulted with a coworker. They both agreed they could do it, and they charged the standard jacket fee! I am impressed and happy to have found a professional shop for my dry cleaning.

Completely rude over the phone, male employee hung up the call. Pricing is way too much. Makes me think they prey on college kids that wouldn’t know any better or are searching for a convenient location.
Poor way to do business!

Very thorough, fairly priced cleaning and alterations service. Appears to be family run. They remembered my name and greeted me warmly after I showed up a few times. They will be honest (and in my experience, correct) about how a particular alteration or stain removal will turn out. Overall, a great little neighborhood cleaners for north campus area.

I’ve yet to wear the dress they altered but so far, perfect.
I went to another local alterations shop to get a quote on altering my wedding dress that was 4 inches too long, and have a couple inches take off the straps. The first shop quoted me about $ 160. I about SHAT.
I hightailed it to My Cleaners and Alterations and was quoted 70-​ish I believe with a pick up date of a week from then. Picked up my wedding dress which fit perfectly and was charged only $ 75 bucks for what would have been $ 160 up the road.
Thank goodness I stopped for a second quote!

I took a dress here that I need for a wedding for dry cleaning and some small sewing needed (the hem and a small hole along a seam) this was on a Wednesday and she told me Friday. I thought the cost of the cleaning and sewing was a bit pricey but I didn’t mind since I needed the dress for the wedding. I went to pick up the dress on Tuesday and it was clean but none of the sewing was done and I was flying out for the wedding on Thursday :(I should her that the sewing wasn’t done and she said she would do it in the next couple hours and asked me to come back after 4pm. I came back and they did the hem but not the other small hole. I pointed this out so she took the dress and tried to hand see it while I was there, meanwhile the cat of the store hipped up on the counter and started playing/​clawing at my dress which she made a half attempt to get it off my dress. I looked at the hole that she hand sewn and it was worse then something I could do myself. I showed her that it wasn’t a good job and asked for it to be done on the machine. She said that I would have to come back tomorrow (Wednesday). Which I was frustrated about and worried about it being completed on time. I came back the next day and the dress was finally ready and she still wanted to charge me full price. I said I didn’t feel comfortable with that considering all the trouble she then tried to say blame me by saying I never told her about the sewing things but it was clearly written on the ticket from when I originally dropped the dress off. I was appalled. She took $ 5 dollars off and I said I would never come back here. With all that being said the dress looked really good but I won’t go through that again.

No problem with cleaning ability but I have given them cleaning twice and both times they tired SHORT CHANGING me. First time on a $ 24 charge I gave them two 20s and they only gave me $ 6 change as the cashier was holding the twenties. The second time on a $ 7 charge they tried to give $ 3 change as the $ 20 was on the counter.
Once an accident; twice an awful pattern. Never again!

I used to love this place but lately, the zippers on my dresses come back crushed after their dry cleaning and today, I picked up my dry clean only comforter that I paid $ 49 to have them dry clean only to realize they clearly washed it. It’s shrunken, the tag is disintegrated and the fabric is warped.

Great service — they hemmed 5 of my pants for $ 15 each and had them ready within a week. The seamstress was very patient and measured all of them for me.

This place is really overpriced. I decided to give this place a try because it had good ratings, but after seeing the results I could get the same service for a lot cheaper somewhere else.
I got 3 of my jackets dry cleaned and a zipper on my shorts fixed. The total came out to be approximately $ 80. Where I used to get it done, I could get all that done for around $ 40-​$ 50 for even better service. One of my coats has a fur lining and after picking them up I realize the fur is more course and lost its luster and softness. I was really disappointed because I spent a good amount for this coat.
The other stuff came out fine but I wouldn’t come back because it’s just waaaay too overpriced and one of my items came out worse than before.
I appreciate the owners being very kind though.

Unfortunately, they were unable to take care of the stains in an evening dress I brought in. Turns out the dress is spot-​clean only and the wonderful lady at the front just let me know it would simply take them too long and cost me a pretty good amount if they did spot-​clean it.
Very honestly and helpfully, the lady laid out my dress and showed me step-​by-​step I could get the stains out by myself at home. Thanks to her guidance and honesty, I was able to get out all the stains myself. I appreciated her honesty about the cost and that I was able to do it myself. Honest, dependable people and if I ever end up needing anything actually dry-​cleaned this place will be the place I do it.

I lost a lot of weight over the past couple years, and I went to My Cleaners & Alterations to get lots of alterations done (about $ 200 total). The lady was super kind and helpful. She did the minimal changes so she didn’t overcharge me. She even told me that one of my items looked fine and I didn’t really need any alterations on it. They got all the alterations I needed done immediately (business suits) done within a week. I had to come back a second time to get the remaining items, but those were some dresses I didn’t need right away.
Note that I only got one dress dry cleaned after alterations, so I can’t really speak to the dry cleaning service, but the alterations were great! The clothes turned out exactly like I wanted. She had me change into the clothes in a little fitting room, then used pins to mark the changes. She was incredibly friendly.
There’s a parking lot out front, so need to worry about parking in the busy North Campus area.

Ruined my $ 200 dress pants by putting a huge cleaning stain! I do not know how they did not see that they did this after they pressed the pants. Went because of the great reviews unfortunately I did not experience this.

I went because of the good reviews, but my experience was the opposite. I entered and began giving her my information. I had an expensive suit I was going to have dry cleaned so I asked if they had any guarantees against damages. In the most rude attitude, she ripped up the paper with my information in it, and told me to go somewhere else because «it’s not a good feeling to be asked that question.» She then proceeded to leave the desk mumbling incomprehensible remarks, as people stared dumbfounded at her irrational behavior.
Being a professional, a business is nothing without guaranteeing good results with the service or product they provide. If at the uttering of a simple, innocent question, a business reacts emotionally, I would not trust my belongings or spend money with them.
In conclusion: terrible customer service, and even worse confidence in their abilities.

I saw a cute dress on super-​sale online, and briefly forgot that the store (*cough*cough*LOFT) has ridiculous vanity sizing. The dress arrived, I loved it, but I needed to have it taken in a couple sizes.
I headed up to My Cleaners & Alterations, and $ 30 and one week later I have a dress that fits perfectly! The lady who measured me did an excellent job, and didn’t stab me with any pins. Yay!
I feel kind of bitchy for writing this, but the only downside was that when I dropped off my dress, I had a really, really hard time communicating with anyone working there. The people working seemed nice, but I’d suggest that they always try to have one person working that has a pretty good grasp of English.
I need to get a few bridesmaids dresses tailored over the summer, and I definitely plan to come back here!

I read the reviews and wanted to support a local business nearby. I was greeted by a Vietnamese individual and we hit it off in our native tongue. He was kind, small talk though. He made me count my own clothes. I’ve worked at a dry cleaner for a summer or 2 and I’ve never asked anyone that. Maybe they didn’t want to be liable for missing pieces. Shrug. Prices were pretty high compared to Houston. A number of my clothing came back with still noticeable stains. Wouldn’t recommend. Not coming back.

This is the only place I trust with my dry cleaning.

I got two pants hemmed here and they turned out perfect. The woman who took my measurements, I believe her name was Linh, listened to what I wanted and even made useful suggestions for the fit of my pants. All together, everyone was very nice and the place felt clean and professional.
I’ll also add that the people who work here are Vietnamese, and since I am also Vietnamese I was able to communicate with then very easily.
