Had a great experience with Elizabeth. The food and customer service was amazing. Great food and location in Cedar Park.

I was looking for a brunch buffet that didn’t break the bank and landed on Freda’s after browsing through Unilocal, and I’ve got to say, I was disappointed. My fiancé and I arrived around 11:30 and were promptly seated; the place was decently busy but there was no wait, which is sometimes hard to come by with a good brunch buffet place. Our server, Stephanie, was efficient and friendly. There’s a perfect mix of food items that were freshened up often — between your normal breakfast items; bacon, pancakes, hash browns; seafood and other specialties, «high-end» brunch items like prime rib and crab legs, and dessert. All you can drink mimosas for $ 10 is a great deal too. My reasons for taking off one star — 1. the snow crab legs looked a little mish-mashed, as if someone has already broken them up and picked through the best pieces. It didn’t look as appetizing as other brunch places I’ve been to that do crab legs. 2. the lack of variety for dessert, although the bread pudding was delish. But overall a delicious brunch for the price!

This place continually impresses me. Try the Chilean sea bass or a steak. The spirits are top notch! Great date night place. Tell Frieda hi for me when she comes by to greet you!

I went with coworkers for lunch. The menu is super limited, but what they do they do well. Everything was beautifully plated, tasted fantastic, and was reasonably priced for what you’re getting. The waiter I had was absolutely fantastic. The tea selection was totally cool– they just bring you a whole box so you have a large variety to select one from! I had a soup & salad, but my coworkers were more adventurous and their food was really great. Perfect shoestring fries, the fried fish was crisp and not greasy, the blackened fish had a delicious roux topping and the veggies looked super fresh! I definitely recommend this spot for a nice lunch and can’t wait to try the dinner selections!

Fresh fish flown in daily… aged steaks with Cajun Creole flare. Wonderful food; beatiful establishment. Nice patio/live music venue. Great place for a special occassion/date. Freda takes great pride in her restaurant and stays very involved in the day to day operations and it shows!

Excellent date night spot. We went early, 6pm, so it wasn’t outrageously busy. Got the crab cake — awesome. Got the Alaskan king crab legs — totally awesome. And of course we got the bread pudding which was amazingly awesome. Our server, Beth, was great… she treated us like family. They were out of IPA’s. .so that was a bummer… and I would like to see better(or more) beer choices.

Finally made it here and will come back for sure. The staff was really friendly, answered all questions related to gluten-free options. They went and asked the chef for all details. Their corn bread is delicious and the tortilla chips with seafood appetizer was really good. My bourbon street pasta was huge with plenty of shrimp, andouille sausage and crawfish. Lots of cream though, so a bit heavy dish. My wife’s jambalaya was the better dish. Very spicy and plenty of the same seafood, plus octopus, chicken and mussels. Will come back for some other dishes and to try desert.

My daughter mentioned us coming here as its close to her home and our hotel. We arrived and the Lobby wasn’t packed, of course this was good as I didn’t have to wait even though we did have an early reservation. From my home town a place like this would have a packed standing area. No reason at all why there wasn’t a group outside waiting to get in. The options were amazing and once delivered to our table, WOW! Great oysters, steak, crab legs, red snapper Oscar. So impressed. The wine choices topped it off with a 10. On a side note, we weren’t in bar area but their band was awesome with just the right volume.

Chris was amazing and put up with our indecisive asses trying to figure out what we wanted to eat. We had the Cajun shrimp pasta lunch dish, which was more than enough for both of us and I think the only thing I could be sad about was a lack of croutons for our salad but they don’t have those anyway so it’s not his fault. Haha

How did we not know about this place?! Dinner was amazing, fresh and unique. Total hidden gem. Jason W was our server and he kept our drinks full and gave us great recommendations. The whole staff worked together to get our food out pipping hot. Bread pudding is a must have! We will be coming back soon! We came back and sat with Stephanie and she was awesome and so friendly!

My daughter treated us to an early lunch and it was such a nice surprise as to how fresh are meals were and not over spiced with pepper. Hands down the best fried pickles.

Sit at the bar for the best service and ask for Beth. She is the best! We had the bourbon street pasta, the blackened red snapper, calamari, shrimp Diablo and the bread pudding! Great portions and delicious!

Amazing place. Great food, great service. We had the Crab Stuffed Salmon and the Bourbon Street Pasta, along with the Calamari appetizer. All were perfectly cooked and the portions were very good. we both have enough for lunch tomorrow! We will be back!

I have been here for starters and cocktails and found it pretty good. Came here last night for Christmas Eve dinner and it was just ok. I had jambalaya and it was simply uninspiring. One of the guests sides of mushrooms was barely cooked. I am not one to complain or out establishments however, this will not be on my list next time we are in Austin.

Freda’s was a favorite back when I lived in Austin. I could always count on them to satisfy my cajun food craving! My favorites were the gumbo, tilapia, and bread pudding. Freda’s has a pianist on the weekends making it a perfect date spot. Reading other reviews, it sounds like I need to come back for brunch!

Everything was awesome, service was great, the hostesses were adorable and very nice, servers were attentive and 95% of the food was awesome! Only reason for the 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that this is supposed to be «Cajun» or «Creole» style food and I just didn’t see that. There were crawfish on the menu and jambalaya but the spicing of the food wasn’t quite there, it had been diluted to fit the neighborhood(I think) and they were really heavy handed with the cream in their sauces. It made it hard to enjoy the seafood in my dish and it also made me feel overstuffed, I didn’t finish my whole plate. Feels like this restaurant has been hit with the corporate ugly stick and they’ve borrowed too much from Chili’s and Olive Garden. Great place, but not what it’s advertised to be and a bit pricey for the quality of the food.

Fan of seafood with a large appetite? Freda’s is your place. They are very proud of the fact that they are locally owned and in their 13th year, and proud they should be. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was very friendly and professional. We overheard another waiter respond to a water order with«frozen or on the rocks, with or without salt». It very fairly priced.($ 4 for a cup of gumbo). It is a bit hard to find but it is located near 360 and 183 on the south side of 183 on Pecan Park. The lunch menu was a bit narrow with tilapia, catfish and salmon the only fish on the menu. The dinner menu is much broader and also fairly priced. Our waiter told us that Sunday Brunch($ 26 I think) is very popular. We’ll probably try it. We both started with a cup of gumbo. It was very flavorful and very rich. We had to quite without finishing. I order the Half and Half which is a crawfish dish which is half étouffée and half fried. It was good and very rich. I saved most of the étouffée for later. My wife had the Salmon Florentine. Again very large portion. The salmon was properly prepared and again, a large serving. She was not that pleased with the spinach Florentine as she didn’t feel it added much to the dish. Definitely a keeper.

Carlos, our server, was great. He knew the restaurant’s history, menu, and specials. He checked on us often. All our food came out quickly and tasted great. The prices are reasonable as well. They even brought me out a dessert with«Happy Birthday» written on it and sang to me. My only actual complaint at all is that it’s so cold inside. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

This is my second time here. The first time was too good it seemed untrue. So I decided to wait until the next experience to write a review. 1) always a parking spot available. 2) the shrimp Diablo 3) oysters YUM 4) steak — fabulously prepared in a way that keeps the steak flavor natural. Not a lot of salt, and temperature perfected. 5) CRAB. Crab is delicious. We had it last time, our server said to come back on Monday it was crab legs all you can eat for $ 39. Yes! So we came back for that. They kept bringing them and we got a delicious baked potato… 6) our bartender Zak! Amazing. Makes the best drinks. And takes such good care, of all of his customers. He will be the ultimate reason we come back. 7) nice free feeling environment, not a pretentious place. You can do or say or wear whatever you want and it flies. 8) great outdoor patio. People love it. I don’t care to be outside with the Mosquitos but it Looks fun. 9) bathroom are always fully stocked and clean. 10) overall great place. That has lots of great options on the menu. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. PS. Bread pudding is awesome awesome awesome. Soft and supple and Amazing.
