This place has fantastic food! My husband and I go here at least once and week and even the kids like it(the pio pio tacos with chicken, rice and cheese are perfect for kids!). The queso is delicious(and addictive) and even the homemade ice cream is incredible. I can’t wait for them to open up their dine-in restaurant on South 1st!

The food is here is good but the drive through staff are super inconsistent. On three separate occasions, including today, they had the tacos I ordered labeled correctly but when I got home they were not actually what I ordered. It’s a completely crap shoot what they end up giving you. I’m personally never going here again, today pushed me over the edge(especially since it’s about $ 5/taco and I rarely get what I order). However, if you plan on giving this place a try make sure to open up everything they give you and make sure it’s correct.

Really one of my favorite — if not my favorite — places to grab q quick meal for the family. We’ve had nothing but really good food every time we get it.

Mehhh… the tacos do not measure up to other competitors around like taco deli! The salsa is yummy though!

Save yourself the time. Never got to the food. I remember this place taking a while to prepare the food last time. After months of not going there, my return to the food stand was a good reminder of why I will not return again and encourage everyone to eat elsewhere. After waiting 20 minutes on a single order, I went to the window to ask what was going on. The attendant at the window made a poor attempt to check in with staff on my order and after no confirmation of what was going on with my order, I asked for a refund. I was amazed the attendant made such little effort to check in on my order or offer a solution aside from money back. It’s hot outside with no cooling system(at least that was turned on. I saw fans with midgets but the fans either didn’t work or the staff just didn’t turn them on). Food is more expensive than comparable Mexican food stands. Not sure how quality compares as I didn’t ever get a meal. Customer service was abysmal. Step up your game Fresa’s.

Well they put a dent in your pocketbook, if not your appetite. We just spent $ 15 dollars on three tacos that were comparable to what you’d find elsewhere in town for about $ 2.50 per taco. To add insult to the mix, they shorted us on napkins. If you’re visiting from NYNY or San Francisco, it’s probably only a little overpriced. On an Austin wage you’re better off spending your dough at the Lobster truck. I added a star as the food was acceptable, but did not rise to the price.

My favorite place to come to for tacos! I brought my family here when they were visiting me in Austin and they said they really liked it. If you like spicy food, make sure you ask for the green sauce! It’s soooo good

Fresas is delicious. Everything on their menu is so delicious. I used to frequent the actual Mexican trailers(pollo regio) which is very similar but more authentic Mexican. Fresas is more palatable towards the American taste and extremely popular. A few times they have been out of the chicken flavor I want, but they have the best appetizers(the horchata coffee, best guacamole) I love everything about this place, but it’s a little pricey for a chicken and the little meat you get. When you compare to the Other rotisserie chicken places that give you a whole chicken with two sides for $ 20. Whatevs. I’ll still come here even if they have overpriced tacos. Great spot.

While the chicken options are extremely overpriced, it’s a great neighborhood go-to for a drive thru kale salad. Market corn, Brussel sprouts, beets, and watermelon aqua Fresca(pro tip: add your own vodka) are some of my faves. Don’t forget to ask for a dog treat on your way out

SO! Fresas… we just moved next door to this place and we’re real psyched to try this place out. Huge ass line when we pull up. No big deal since it’s mostly a drive thru joint. I got the El Rey & The Fresa taco. Ordered the chorizo as well. El Rey was just horrible. Don’t know exactly what it was but the meat tasted burned. On to the chicken taco. It was so much better until my last couple of bites, there was about 3 chicken bones in it and it just totally killed it. The chorizo queso was pretty good I’ll give them that. The churros were really awesome! Soft and warm and just perfect with the cajeta they give you. Will I go back? Probably just for the churros but definitely not the other food. Such a disappointment.

After years of driving by and wondering what this big blue building was for, I’m ecstatic that I finally tried fresa’s delicious food! I love the concept of the walk up window or drive through with the surrounding tropical plants and décor– it truly made me feel like I was on vacation in Mexico. On top of this, my favorite frank Sinatra song was playing as I walked up to order, making me all the more merrier during my first experience here. The el presidente taco was perfectly filling and deliciously satisfying. The chicken is cooked so tenderly and juicy with many great flavors. The style that fresa’s prepares their chicken is excellent! I want to come back and try the plates, salad, breakfast, and ice cream. So much to try and so little time!

I don’t know how people can rate this place under 4 stars. I eat here nearly 3 times a week and I can honestly say I’ve never experienced any sort of problems that have been vented by some of these Unilocalers. The drive threw can get a little bit stuffy, but you can always park. I have a huge fan of the Cubana– one of the most savory sandwiches you can get in town!

This place is so amazing! To start off, they have a drive through, so it makes it so easy to get your food. The food comes out fast, and it was so delicious. My tacos tasted so fresh, and the chicken was very moist and delicious. Everyone else in my family loved their food, and even my dad said it might be some of the best chicken he ever had. The venue was really nice and cool too, with the modern accents. The place was really easy to spot, which is a plus because last night we had to go on an adventure to find the restaurant we wanted to go to. The cashier was really nice and really attentive. Would definitely recommend visiting!

I could swing with or without fresas. Fresas really isn’t a place that you absolutely cannot live without. They are often out of ALL of their side dishes(yes, ALL of them), which can be rather frustrating… especially when the previous 3 times that you’ve went and they’re out of the only thing you go there for. This would be the introduction to their Brussels sprouts. They are quite tasty. The queso is golden as well. The drive through sucks. Yeah, I said it. SUCKS.

I had the bowl and it was good but very overpriced! I had to dig around for the chicken… I’d say you got a third or a quarter of what you’d get at Chipotle in their bowl. The bowl was mostly filled with kale and then some rice. Also ordered some chips and salsa… what a joke. I received what looked like a gift package of cellophane wrapped tortilla chips… think of a Valentine’s gift of chocolates wrapped. $ 4 for maybe 15 chips and a small thing of salsa… in Austin you can find yourself swimming in chips and salsa for next to nothing. I will say this Fresas had good service and was nice. The food was good just way overpriced… I left hungry.

I love Fresa’s so much. Their half and half horchata iced coffee is the perfect pick me up, and my dog, Pearl, loves coming here too! The service was quick, friendly, and cute! The mustached man was amazing =) I will definitely be back!

If you want a meal that hits the spot paired with an out-of-the-ordinary experience, just look for the big neon chicken that turns all day long. Fresa’s is an unexpected food stop that just happens to serve up some mouth-watering wood-grilled chicken. It’s their signature cuisine cooked real smoky and tender. The chicken smells appealing and tastes even better; it’s full of this amazing charcoal flavor that reminds you of backyard barbecues from summers past. I’ve ordered the same thing over my many visits there: the classic chicken sandwich, served on soft, crumbly bread with guacamole, queso fresco, some badass chipotle mayo, and smoky grilled onions that are a serious treat on their own. Combine them all and it’s a hit. There’s a heaping pile of chicken, and you’ll savor every bite. This is for sure one of the best off-the-grill meals around. I can’t help but be all smiles after. Side note: The sandwich comes with chips and salsa, but this is no average salsa. It also has this smokiness that makes it delicious and totally unique. It’s worth trying. The rest of the menu looks great though I can’t speak for it, and old habits die hard so I’m not likely to try anything else soon. They do sell their quality homemade ice creams that come in these exotic flavors, like honeycomb — so I may at least spring for that some time. Or maybe one of their hibiscus or horchata aguas frescas. Their prices are a bit steep, though, as others have mentioned. I mean, $ 4 for a 4oz ice cream — that’s a bit much, guys. Finally, this is one of the neatest food storefronts I’ve seen. The first couple years I passed by, I could never figure out what kind of business it was. It’s in this old brick structure with no windows, except for the walk-up and drive-thru windows where you order. It looks like an old warehouse, or maybe one of those drive-thru dry cleaners. You can’t sit and eat in there, you can’t even walk inside, but yet it exists to serve food! Somehow this blew my mind when I realized it, and I was so intrigued I had to visit. And when I tried the food, it was even better than expected. The more you go, the more charm this place seems to have. They re-did the outside of the building nicely by painting it in inviting colors, and converted the entire inside of the building into the kitchen where the magic happens. There’s a bench and a little«counter» seating area on their patio if you want to enjoy your meal there as the cars pass by in front of you. It’s actually very chill on nice days.(Quick heads-up: they sell alcohol here, but only to go; there’s a sign saying you can’t drink on their premises.) So give this place a try, people. The neon chicken doesn’t lie.

Prob 3.5 stars. I’ll bump it up to 4 just because it’s a drive thru that serves beer and wine(and also margarita mix). Chicken Torta was okay; I expected it to be better with all the reviews about it. Winner was the beans. I tried the #1 chicken meal(quarter chicken) and it was good but only enough for 1 person at ~$ 12. So a bit pricey. Good flavor to it though and it comes with rice, beans, 2 – 3 tortillas and salsa. Also have been a fan of drive thrus that aren’t the typical fast food spots. So much easier when you have a child you have to get in and out of car seat!

This place is a little pricey, but dang it’s good! Tonight my darling and I shared a half of a chicken with beans, rice, and brussel sprouts. Honestly, that chicken was so good I will probably get a whole one next time! I could deal with having those leftovers around. The beans were also way amazing, but definitely not vegetarian. I guess vegetarians don’t hang out at grilled chicken restaurants much anyway though. I also loved the brussel sprouts. They are a little crispy, and they come with a yummy dipping sauce. Sometimes brussel sprouts around town are too sweet and these were not. I appreciate that as a gal who definitely tries to keep those carbs to a minimum. Speaking of carbs, the corn tortillas were him wade! I had to eat half of one. Had to. I wish the pricing was a tiny bit lower, but it’s all good quality ingredients which I appreciate. I really wish you could buy a chicken by itself and pay a little less for not getting sides. I love those sides, but like I said, I’m trying to cut carbs, and it’s sad to waste good carby sides ya know! Plus the temptation is just terrible. Chicken a la cart would be pretty cool, Fresa’s! Give it a thought would ya?!? I recommend this place for lunch or dinner!
