Cool enough spot but I ordered the sangria and it literally tasted like soda water. I let the waitress know, but it didn’t seem like they were open to feedback. Who wants lame drinks?

Great atmosphere and great service. Shelby was an amazingly attentive server. They have a million craft beers and great food. I love that I could get a vegan sausage and a side salad that didn’t consist of iceberg and one cherry tomato.

Went for the ADVERTISED Golden Globes party and was not impressed. We missed the opening monologue for the show due to football game overtime. Knowing this is a sports bar I would totally understand the importance of the game BUT they invited me to a Golden Globes party. They have started promoting their annual Oscars party. I am not risking that one!

Good selection of Texas Draft beers… my pick Revolver Blood and Honey. Good sized TV’s and Screens for Sunday Football. Good beer cheese and crunchy kettle chips. Overall, good experience!

This place gets 5 stars based on the Haymaker sandwich alone. Good lawd. I was told/warned about it before going in but seeing is believing here. It’s by far one of the most intimidating sandwich’s I’ve ever laid my eyes on!!! And sooo incredibly tasty. The flavors just all blend together so well, the beef, the gruyère sauce, the fries on top, just awesome. Great beer selection and helpful staff as well. One of my favorite spots in town.

This was a bad experience — the only thing moving it to two stars is our sweet waitress. We waited FOREVER on a random Thursday night — it was not crowded, so I don’t know why it took so long to order drinks. However, when our waitress came over she was very apologetic and nice. The margaritas were weak and sweet. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with pears, pecans and gruyère, and it was basically overstuffed which prevented it from being actually grilled cheese — the cheese was cold and rubbery, and not melted. I don’t live in Austin so I can’t recommend any, but I’m sure there are better food options in the neighborhood. If you want a place to drink beer and watch sports, Haymaker may be better suited to that.

So glad we came here! Back home on Sundays I am used to picking any bar and watching the Bears game. Once in Austin I found that a bit more challenging. Although Haymaker does not describe itself as a sports bar they have the NFL Sunday Ticket and MANYTV’s. Plus once I walked in they asked me who I was there to watch and directed me to the TV that had it on. Their food menu is great and what we had was very tasty. Plus their beer list is awesome! Plenty to choose from and on Sundays its $ 2 off pitchers! Just couldn’t get my girl to split a Mosaic IPA pitcher with me to take advantage. The bar itself seemed to be going for a MidWest type vibe. Not in the dive bar sense(Which I would prefer) but more like the I have been in dive bars before and I want to allow rich folk to get an idea of what thats like. So let me open a place thats has a classy dive vibe. We will be repeat customers for sure. Stoked we found this place!

Haymaker was okay. I’m not a sporty girl so a sportsbar environment of loud TV’s in every inch of the place isn’t my thing. The poutine was what my friend wanted to try and it was pretty good. I’m from the Northeast and we call that, «cheese fries and gravy»…not a big deal. The gravy taste was good but they drenched the fries making the cheese and fries barely noticeable. I could have done with less gravy or more fries or both of the combination!!! Barely any fries/cheese, all gravy!!! I also tried the italian vegan sausage, it was pretty standard issue for vegan dogs but good. I’m happy that they offered it so that was enough for me to be happy. All in all, not a bad little joint but I won’t be going back anytime soon due to the obnoxiously loud environment. Perfect for someone, just not me!

Happy Hour is probably the only time I come to Haymaker. If you are offering $ 2 margarita’s and $ 3 beerita’s-then sign me up. This place has that cool Austin vibe with tons of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. The food I have not tried yet, but the drinks during Happy Hour are really good. Sometimes the wait for drinks might take longer than you like, but the deal you are getting-you just cant argue with that. So if you are looking for a place to go hang for Happy Hour-Haymaker is your place!

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again — – I’m not really a sports bar kinda gal. However, I am a gal who appreciates a great, crispy wing, and a full bar. I also like to hang out with friends who are in to sports bars on some occasions. For all of these reasons, the«Let’s all meet up at Haymaker» suggestion usually jives with me just fine. Here is what I like about Haymaker; –Crispy, juicy chicken wings. Once they had garlic Parmesan. They were so dang good! –Fun and friendly staff! –Great happy hour specials! –Ample indoor and outdoor seating! The parking kinda sucks, but c’mon, that’s just what happens in a great central location. All in all, Haymaker is a perfect sports bar for Manor Road.

Been to haymaker twice now for U.S.A soccer games and I gotta say it’s the best place to watch them when you want to feel the support. Home to the official fan club, the American outlaws get this place popping off on the right-foot. One of the things I like about haymaker is the beer selection. They range from local beers to international beers and have some nice selections. It’s definitely a place to go and have some drinks with some friends. On the down side I’m not so big on the food selection. Much of it is sandwiches and I’m not a big fan of them. Appetizers leave more to the imagination. I had a turkey plate and the turkey was a bit dry and didn’t have much sauce on it. I had to go fishing for it. Overall though it’s a nice place to start the evening but not end it.

Great sports bar. Fun crowd, awesome drink specials, excellent service, and delicious food. Need I say more? I might be on a high from the longhorn win this afternoon, but this was the perfect venue to watch the red rivalry from Austin. Lots of fans came out to support, and there were some good drink specials to keep us hydrated. Food: poutine was great. However, this was my first poutine so I can’t compare to others, but the gravy and fries combo was delicious. Add in some ketchup to make it super Americanized. Mac and cheese was super liquidy and creamy– but in a good way. The bread crumbs aligning the top added a nice crunch to the flavor as well. Finally, the Cole slaw was vinegar based! Yumminess without the extra mayo fat. Drinks: beer cocktails were pretty on point. The mo’wille beergarita was very refreshing on this hot day. A fun place! Would love to be back for some more football games.

This place hit the spot for sure… sat in the Bar area, service was friendly. We dive in head first… had to try the Poutine with brown gravy. was rich in flavor, a bit on the salty side. but definitely packed with homemade goodness. the gooey cheese curds were delicious… needless to say this plate was gobbled up quickly… there is plenty of menu items to choose from, making for a tuff pick on where to start. Wife went with the Ponyshoe with fries. the Gruyère sauce makes the dish. burger was a tad over cooked, but with the sauce made for a great meal. myself I went with the garbage plate which consisted of Tater Tots, Mac-n-cheese, a unbelievably good sausage dividing the two. and covered in house chili! And 2 huge pieces of Texas toast!.. this plate was the bomb… everything was so good… Now if ya follow my reviews… I always try to included a «Bang For Your Buck» factor. and this nailed it. plates are big for the $$$.and we left packed out for $ 25 before tip… we’re excited to come back and try something different. and personally I wouldn’t visit on Saturday or Sunday during football season. with food like this, I’m sure this place would be jumping!!!

Checked this place out since they were having their 2 year anniversary and haven’t been here. It was quite crowded inside. Pros: food was really good and reasonably priced. Service was good and she was friendly and helpful. Being my first time here… I did had to ask a few things on the menu. Nice breeze outside so sitting at the patio area was nice. Dog friendly place. Got a souvenir glass for ordering the fireman beer. Con’s: crowded indoor. Couldn’t get to the bar. Unsure what to do as we walked in,(Hence, we sat at the patio and enjoyed it a lot more). People must love taking shots in the restroom or something since there were numerous shot glasses on the toilet top.

After being back to this place, I have fallen in love. Amazing specials everyday. The food is cheap and tasty. The darts are always well kept. The best thing about the place is they open early for EPL Sundays which means I can watch my Chelsea FC blues and enjoy a good breakfast and a nice cocktail. Once it hits 10am of course. I would never drink before then ;). Im super stoked to be moving off manor so I will be just around the corner from this spot

I started this review at a 3 star but after evaluating each aspect of the place, I had to update my rating. Sports environment = 4, This was a great spot to watch the world cup games. Plenty of tvs inside and they even place some outside for overcrowding Drink selection = 5, You want it, they probably have it. Food = 3, maybe 2(only negative in my mind), I had a egg and tomato sandwich for a light lunch here and a BLT. The ingredients, although fresh, just did not impress me. Service = 5 when not busy, 3.5 when some event is occurring. Always friendly servers but when it becomes busy, order rounds at a time, not drinks. Price = reasonable. Didn’t break the bank and I’m still able to pay rent this month.

This may sound weird but I am still thinking about their grilled salad… and I didn’t even order it. My aunt did. Oh my this thing was good. Grilled romaine, cheese, a bacon vinaigrette and a habanero pickled egg. Can we talk about that egg for a minute? All of my salads since are sad and incomplete without one of those bad boys thrown on top. Who knew a pickled egg could be so good. And now that I’ve had a grilled salad I’m never going back. The rest of the food we ordered was good too. I had a margarita grilled cheese. Mom had mac and cheese. We started with the pimento cristo. All were good but my aunt definitely ordered the best. I could see this being a great place to hang out late night or for watching sports. They have great specials and the beer list is pretty great.

Great bar! Plenty of TVs if you like a bar where you can watch sports! There’s also indoor and outdoor seating and pool tables in the back room! They have a SERIOUS beer list — including 30+ beers on tap(and they dedicate some of the taps to Texas drafts), and some great food! For vegetarians, they have a vegan Italian sausage or bratwurst that can be substituted for any of the sausage dishes, grilled cheeses, a vegan black bean patty or Hot Dang grain burger that can replace any burger patty, and a lot more! I can personally recommend the Pretzel Bites(don’t miss the homemade horseradish mustard) and the Pimiento Cristo(a deep-fried beer-battered pimiento cheese sandwich). They even have salads for those looking for a healthier option! Great place to watch sports events! CONS: their parking lot(and sometimes the bar itself) is full by 5:30 on Fridays! It’s a popular place — get there early and beware of street parking by the bar — READTHESIGNS!

It’s almost been a year now and I still find myself heading over to the east side to enjoy Haymaker. It’s has become English Première League central these days with the Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham fans calling Haymaker home. To open up at 6.45am and provide a great breakfast menu is pretty awesome and goes beyond dedication. They really service the fans by making sure the games are on all the televisions and sound in the big room. I like the fact that they cover the pool tables and shuffle board to make room for folks to stand/sit and have a place to put their drinks on and eat. After the games, they clear the tables and we end up playing some epic dart matches and pool. They also seem to cater to many of the handball games and several college teams have a strong following for them.(That’s American Football) They constantly have brewer’s nights for many of the breweries they feature on the 40 taps they keep rotating. They also have a curiously large selection of whiskeys as well. I always find a inexpensive special to sip on. Despite the fact they have one of the largest parking lots on Manor Rd, they do suffer from being very popular and the lot tends to fill up quickly. However, you can find parking along Cherrywood, just make sure you park in the spaces which are allocated for parking and not residents. Just leg it to the bar and have a blast.

Go Sports Sunday! Hooray Team, Make all the points! So this was my virgin voyage at watching NFL football with real live hipsters. I went in to the situation with no preconceived notions and was entertained and delighted. Normally, I’m surrounded by no less than 30 jerseys with flat billed hats or some kind of camo but this day it was lucite rimmed glasses, hoodies and skinny jeans. I’m intrigued! Haymaker kept with the theme by having«Sunday Football Specials» that included $ 2 Brooklyn Lager pints. And this is where shit got serious and I realize that you can wear a fedora and be serious about your football fanatic-ery. Huge TVs in every crevice of the place, delicious and different open faced pile it on sandwich concepts and drink specials out the yang. Sign me up. Service was on point and just as awesome as the food. Now if only Haymaker could slip some of their awesomeness to the Broncos defense, life would be perfect.
