Wow, this is probably the worst doughnut places I have ever been to. I went there to get a dozen doughnuts and this place only had a small selection of doughnuts. So, first they don’t have a large variety so don’t expect more. Second, the lady at the front counter was very rude and unpleasant to work with. I asked if she had anymore chocolate covered doughnuts and she replied in a mean demeanor«No! No More… what do you want?» I was like… really, do you have to be that mean… so she got even more upset. I asked if these were fresh because they look old, but she then replied«Do you want doughnut or not!»…that’s how she said it lol… oh well… I just told her no thanks because none of these doughnuts even look fresh and there wasn’t much of a selection… This place really bites! Thanks for listening…

I stopped in to pick up doughnuts for everyone at work. The selection was pretty picked over and they were having problems with their credit card machine so it took a while to get in and out. I feel like this just your average run of the mill doughnut ahop. Nothing special but nothing bad about their selection or flavor. I have to say the apple fritter was good but there were doughnuts left over at the end of the day.

GROSS!!! I got a apple fritter and it was hard, flat, burned, and greasy! I should have just gone the extra mile or so down the road to Mrs. Johnsons.

When I’m craving some kolaches or donuts, I’ll stop by this little shop on the way to work. I usually order the jalapeño, cheese and sausage kolaches and they are always delicious and piping hot(after a couple seconds in the microwave). I’ve also tried the blueberry donut– flavorful, flaky and doesn’t disappoint. In the mornings, the nice lady behind the counter usually works by herself so be prepared to wait for a couple minutes in line or come early! In the words of donut king Homer Simpson, «mmhmmmm Dooooonuts.»

How to grow your ass on a Monday morning = Try the croissant, ham, egg and cheese sandwich + chocolate donut. Mix with 1 pint whole milk. Do not repeat unless you like your booty chunky.

I’ve been sitting in my cubicle for the last 6 weeks or so watching every morning as a truck unloaded drywall, metal studs and display cases across the street; waiting patiently for Highland Donuts to open. Almost two weeks ago the vinyl sign went up, «Donuts Opening Soon!» This morning, I didn’t even notice that the sign had changed. «Grand Opening Donuts!» I don’ t know why I anticipated this day so much, really. Although I love the occasional donut, I’m not a donut nut.(OK. Sure. I’ve been known to camp-out in front of Ken’s Donuts or the odd Krispy Kreme waiting for the«Hot» sign to light up.) «No time like the present» commented a coworker upon my mention that it was now open and we should try it out. Donuts are a cheap thrill(financially, not calorically) and Highland Donuts was no exception. Enough joy for me and a handful of colleagues to sample their delights for less than a fiver. The donuts are super fresh(they certainly weren’t made yesterday… hurf durf) and the glaze is not too sweet. Of special note(and worthy of an update to this review in the near future), Highland Donuts also create breakfast sandwiches such as sausage, egg and cheese bagels and are also Austin’s latest locale to get yourself a breakfast taco.(Although maybe too close to Tamale House to win me over in that arena.) Highland Donuts is located right next door to Kick Butt Coffee.
