I came to this food truck a few years ago when I was first beginning my vegetarian journey. It was so good. I spent some time overseas and was looking forward to coming back here. Just wanted to say how sad I am that this location is closed!

The coffee glaze cupcake, I believe it’s called. Is really good a little to sweet on the glaze but very good. The apple fritter on the other had wasn’t good. Too thick not much apples and the glaze wasn’t enough? Idk it just wasn’t it at its best.

Vegan donuts. All of them are pretty good, but every once in a while they’ll have one that is amazing!

I have had their donuts since my last review and they are easily the best in town and are almost as good as Naeglins in New Braunfels(this is high praise). The donut itself is light, airy, and has just the right amount of chewiness without being too glutinous. Even better, the donut itself is not that sweet as sweetness is better left for their icing. The Mexican chocolate has a great mix of bittersweet with a nice cinnamon spiciness. I heartily recommend them. Also, sorry for leaving my previous mean review up for so long.

Vegan donuts are AWESOME! Mexican chocolate has a spicy afterburn which goes great with coffee. Maple walnut donut is terrific.

And the winner for best vegan donuts in the United States is… …Red Rabbit! This is the place. I’ve had vegan donuts all over and Red Rabbit is the best. The flavors I enjoyed include simple chocolate glaze, maple and the vest best, the Austin Cream. If you are in one of the many Austin establishments that carries them, you have to treat yo’self to a Red Rabbit donut!

Had this place booked marked for a bit… and what is really cool… We never realized there was a farmers market at the same location. We will keep simple, after all this is only the first visit… Wife went with the Apple Fritter… She brought hers home, and after a quick blast from Chef Mike(Microwave)…That thing was Awesome… apples still had a crunch… Im a coffee head… so Coffee Glazed for me. mine didnt make it home… stuffed it in as fast as I could… And all I can say… cant wait to try the next one on the list… We will be back for sure… we shop at HEB all the time…

So, so good. Get the apple fritter. It’s to die for. You’ll hardly believe it’s all vegan. The quality is great you can tell it’s all made fresh daily.

Vegan donuts… Mmmmm… The donuts are so airy and almost like they melt in your mouth! These are better than most non-vegan donuts. We were so sad when the vegan food truck park that they were at closed down. But then we discovered Wheatsville and have been getting their donuts there on a regular basis. :) Although we do miss the fresh out of the oven warm donuts that we used to get at the food truck, though. My favorite is the maple walnut one. Their apple fritters is not bad either, but we definitely prefer the donuts.

I’m a donut fiend. I used to live in New Orleans and only knew about Mighty-o donuts in Seattle. Whatever, cake donuts. Over it. Then I learned about Voodoo donuts in Portland. Yay! Vegan yeast donuts. Then I went to Austin and at the farmers market downtown was Red Rabbit. These donuts put to shame all vegan donuts everywhere. Now I live in Portland and all I want is Red Rabbit. Donut binge. Sorry Voodoo, not worth the calories anymore knowing you’re second best to Red Rabbit. FYI– they don’t go to the farmers market anymore because they have their food truck in North Austin. But get there early! They sell out.

The. Best. Donuts. The Austin Cream is as good any donut-ish product I’ve ever tasted. Always have a new, fun flavor to try. Last time, I had an apple pie flavored donut that didn’t have any of those copout mushy apples that other donut places try to pass off as apples — this ish was CRUNCHY. So good. Go early bc they will sell out.

Five stars for the taste. One star for supply. I understand creating demand for a product, ala franklins, by regularly selling out in purpose, but when you run out of your most popular flavors by 9 and you didn’t open until 8, which is what happens every weekend when we go, you are losing out on money while also alienating and seriously frustrating your customers, especially those of us with screaming little kids upset bc they didn’t get the chocolate donut they waited patiently for while driving across town to the rr truck. I mean how much does it cost and how difficult is it to make sure you have enough donuts to be able to stay open for, I don’t know, like 2 – 3 hours??? That doesn’t seem like too much to ask. Especially when all your company does is make donuts-there’s no lunch menu to worry about, just donuts so do what you need to do to make donuts or close your truck and stop wasting everyone’s time. Also it’s annoying to pay a different price for rr donuts all over town(houndstooth is the biggest rip off btw. And half the time theirs are a day old which is especially frustrating). And it makes no sense that I pay less for a rr donut from wheatsville than the actual RR truck.

Don’t go to Red Rabbit. Seriously, stop going to Red Rabbit. They’re always sold out when I get there, so, srsly, please stop going. Red Rabbit, I love you. Please make twice as many doughnuts.(And maybe just fiddy cents cheaper?) The Austin Cream Pie is my personal fave, but I had some crunchy peanut butter thing at the farmers market a few weeks ago that blew everything else out of the water. Apple fritters aren’t really my thing, but Red Rabbit’s are badass.

Items Selected: Coffee Glaze Apple Fritter Austin Cream Pie — Chocolate Ganache filled Vanilla Glazed Vanilla Lavender Glaze Having heard the name at Austin Java in City Hall early that morning during a conversation with the barista about Austin’s best bakeries a subsequent trip to Red Rabbit Cooperative Bakery proved an inspired choice, the excellent iced double espresso from the coffee shop gone and refilled at no cost with a cup of their vibrant Texas Pecan blend guiding my drive to the small vegan food trailer. Worked owned, managed, and staffed by a small team of friendly young men and women — two of whom I’d meet during my brief visit to the cute food cart — and featuring yeast raised classics and novelties focused on both vegan and all-natural, anti-GMO principles it was with nearly a dozen donuts and a trio of muffins that I found myself greeted and instantly keying on the fritter I allowed the staff to round out a quartet, my choice the only selection less than excellent and only because it lacked crispy edges as the flavor was excellent. Moving on to what was better, a first taste of Vanilla Lavender proved shockingly nuanced with vanilla forward and the lavender a light accent while similar pure vanilla tones found a stronger counterpart in the«Austin Cream Pie’s» ample dark chocolate filling. Rounding out the pre-breakfast with a coffee glazed selection featuring Toddy-quality richness with just enough sugar to make it work suffice it to say that there is no reason a vegan donut should be any better or worse than one which is not and Red Rabbit is happy to prove that point.

I happened upon this place while I was waiting on my taco order from a trailer in the same trailer park. Most everything are donuts. My coworker and I halved a Mexican donut. There was a tiny tiny hint of spice to the chocolate icing on top but not so much I would call it Mexican. The donut itself… I don’t know… I’ve have better. Not soft and melt in your mouth. A little hard for a donut. A little pricey for a donut that is $ 2.75.

THIS. PLACE. My brother and I came here multiple times while I was visiting last month and I never found a disappointing donut. The coffee was a marvel, the apple fritter completely lovely, but more than anything the LAVENDERVANILLA. Holy God. It was the most masterful integration of lavender into food that I’ve ever experienced. Red Rabbit 4ever.

These guys are great! Super friendly and positive. The donuts are delicious — and they are really creative with their flavors. I also love fact that it is a worker owned bakery, they listen to their customers wants and needs and do their best to deliver. I’ll be frequenting here often!

Love of the Donut is kind of like a religion in my mind: either you believe that donuts are The One Great Treat, or you kind of think they’re overrated. I was in the latter category until my cold, dead heart was warmed when the Coconut Key Lime specialty donut hit my lips during the trailer’s opening party. Austin Cream Pie? What. S’mores donut? SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY. The specialty donuts are incredible, but there’s something to be said about the simple Chocolate glazed, and my personal favorite, the Coffee Glazed donut. Make sure you go early before they run out! You can always check their Facebook page to see where the donuts will be available and when they run out at the trailer. Red Rabbit Cooperative Bakery made me believe that donuts are The One Great Treat. Oh, and in case it wasn’t abundantly clear from the other reviewers: they’re vegan! Yay!

Let me give you history lesson on vegan donuts in Austin. For years(since 2007ish?) the downtown Whole Foods has had vegan donuts. This was exciting at first but I quickly realized they had too much grease and not enough flavor so I just gave up. They still have vegan donuts but I’m not sure who buys them. Then Red Rabbit Cooperative Bakery popped up into this vegan donut desert and made everything okay. Now you can find good vegan donuts, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, etc. all over town and vegans can eat eat delicious fried breakfast food like everyone else! I only wish they were carried at more places in North/Northwest Austin.
