Think back, for a moment, on the last time you had a really solid lunch for under $ 4.50. Think hard. Has it ever happened? Most of my memories of non-homemade lunches in that price range involve, either, third-world countries(which, what with the cost of airfare and the risk of giardia, probabaly cost more than $ 5 after all), or evil culture-killing fast food joints(even then, not if you want much food), or vending machines, or some terrifying combination of all three. That is to say: in its class, among the rag-tag bunch of disgusting, automated or far-away options that make up the universe of $ 4.50 lunches, Inocente’s is a miracle. A tasty, tasty miracle. Nevertheless, it’s tempting in a city saturated with Tex-Mex fare to compare. And, yes, their enchiladas are a little skinny. Sure, they don’t have margaritas. No, there is no ambiance. But, wouldn’t you know it, their salsa is really damn good. And, wait, did you forget? It. Costs. Four. Fiddy. Daily lunch specials, last I checked, were approximately as follows: Monday: chicken fajitas($ 4.70); Tuesday: three beef enchiladas($ 4.40); Wednesday: two beef enchiladas, one taco and one tostada($ 4.40); Thursday: green chicken enchiladas($ 4.40); and Friday: beef fajitas($ 4.70) or carne guisada($ 4.40).
