The Intown Suites is not a good place to stay long-term. I moved there from a crummy motel, hoping for a great place to stay. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. At first, it wasn’t so bad. A couple months later, there was a new front desk manager. I had a complaint with a housekeeper, who didn’t mop the floor. Instead of the manager, Julie backing up her client/customer she sided with her employee. She never asked me what the problem was. Julie just said our room was too cluttered, and I had to end up renting a storage unit for our excess things. A storage room that was barely half-full. We continued to have problems with lazy housekeepers. We also had a huge roach problem. There was only one maintenance man, who worked his butt off. Julie would have problems keeping staff on, and almost every day, she had to pitch in to clean rooms. We also had problems getting our mail. Either very late, as evidence by an envelope postmarked Nov 1st, and given to us in mid-December. We also had mail stolen from us. I doubt friends would say I mailed you a xmas card, did you get it, and then lie about it. Everytime we turned around, the rates increased. We lived there 10 months, and the rates went up 3 times! There were no discounts for loyal customers. We had to pay the same amount as new renters. And the manager Julie was rude and immature. I would not and my daughter would not stay there again.

The rates here are reasonable, there are some useful things within walking distance(convenience stores, grocery store, restaurants, check cashing places). The staff members are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and in good shape and they have cable. They have regular pest control, and I didn’t see a single bug, so it must be working. The reasons they’re just okay: The furniture/décor/appliances are kind of dated. The neighborhood is not that great, and if you wanted entertainment, there’s not a lot around there(though at least they’re on the 1L, so you can bus somewhere easily). They don’t allow pets. Lack of WiFi is kind of a pain, but the ethernet connection is free, so that’s nice. I’m a smoker, and smoking was allowed in my room. I’m not sure if they have non-smoking rooms available, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Okay, so it seems all thecheap extended stay motels in Austin have serious problems. But InTown Suites is about the best deal. First, it’s a chain so they have standards to live up to. Second, it’s modern. You don’t feel like your stepping back in time when you enter a room. I have stayed here on several locations for 1 week to 2 weeks each time. the standard weekly rates are 209 for 3rd floor and 219 for 1st and 2nd floor, subject to change of course. you do have to place a 50 deposit at check in but you get that back in the form you paid it when you check out. the ammenties are standard. full sized fridge, 2 burner stove, sink, microwave, 2 chairs and a table, bed, sleep love seat, tv and bath. you get one set of towels that you get to keep. the first roll of TP is free, any more you have to buy on your own. No utensils or pots or pans. that kind of sucks. beds are comfy and have linens. ac works good but some units are loud. overall, i like this place for value and quality. i have stayed in cheaper and far more expensive places in Austin and i keep coming back to this one. it is far north but near grocery and restaurants. the staff are friendly and try to please. any issues I’ve had were dealt with fast.
