I didn’t have a customer service issue like one of the other reviewers – the woman behind the counter was perfectly nice – but then I am white so that doesn’t mean there isn’t necessarily a problem. The place is tiny and the selection isn’t very wide, but they have all the basics and it’s not dingy or depressing like other liquor stores in this part of town. Prices seemed reasonable; not the cheapest, but hey, it’s walking distance from my house.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life at a liquor store. As soon as I walked through the door everything was wrong. Neither one of the guys were friendly and especially the young one. They are rude and dont care about what you want or need because they were too busy trying to watch tv. The young one pissed me off so bad with his smart mouth that If i would have been paying for what I was getting I would have left it right on the counter and walked out!!! Yeah I recommend this place… If you aint black!!! It was my first time in there since it changed names. You shouldn’t act like that and 90% of your customers are black. They need some customer service skills really bad!!!

My best friend has a saying: fancy is as fancy does. Well, it’s true. I went looking for some boxed wine last Friday. I live in the ’23 and am proud of it. I also work here too and didn’t particularly want to go out of my way or into Target /Walmart. Soooo I literally drove around the fancy that is Manor Road in East Austin looking for a liquor store. I found one, and it was Johnny’s. The nice pierced punk /rockabilly-esque boy behind the counter didn’t judge me one bit for asking for boxed wine(in fact he was like, «I want some boxed wine every now and then, too.»), but he politely informed me they don’t carry any. I bought a botle of Pino Grigio anyway, screw the no glass laws at Pace Bend Park! The store is tiny, their selection ain’t that great(they have all the basics), but the guy behind the counter is nice as can be; he carried two bags of ice to my car for me! Don’t be scared to go in there. They sell liquor and you know you want it.
