I am a shameless MMH Groupie. I want to move in to all of them, or have them oversee my house decorating. Josephine house is no exception, and they make the best almond milk latte in town. A beautiful clean interior, an enchanting comfortable garden(I love getting snuggled under a blanket and a heat lamp on a cold day) and entirely lovely looking staff. Both of those things are independently enough to lure me in but I also LOVE their food. Today’s highlights were the butternut squash and lemon beignets(magic!) and the beautifully seasoned wild rice bowl. They change up their menu regularly, offering clean, perfectly seasoned savoury comfort food. And a glorious selection of cakes and pastries. Brunch here is also pretty lovely. And dinner. And coffee. Like Perla’s and Jeffrey’s etc etc — you do pay more a bit more $$ than you would elsewhere, but for the quality of the food /location /atmosphere /hot baristas /general panache — I think it’s entirely worth it!

Came here with a friend for brunch, but ended up getting lunch because I guess they don’t do brunch on Mondays? Not sure. But ended up sitting outside since we didn’t have a reservation, which is totally ok because that’s what we wanted anyways, haha. Do not fear the cold! They have those nice tall heater lamp things so it semi-keeps you warm. Do bring a jacket in the winter though, it was kinda chilly. I ordered the braised beef barley soup and friend ordered the chicken sandwich, and we shared the beignets. In my opinion, the food did take a bit longer than I expected, but they do spend time plating everything inside, so I didn’t really dock off much on that. The overall service was pretty good though, and my water was NEVER ever empty, so super kudos to our server. Food was pretty good. The beef and barley soup was really nice, and not too rich or creamy or heavy at all. Pretty light for a soup. The braised beef was reallllly tender though – love love lovvvveeed it. I wasn’t expecting too much, but I was definitely impressed with the flavors. A bit much of celery crunch in my opinion, but I’m also not a huge celery fan, so whatever. The chicken sandwich was extremely savory. The nutty/grainyness of the bread went really well with the chicken and the toastedness of the bread. I think the chicken was tossed in some kind of mustard-y concoction, and even though I don’t really like mustard, the flavor was just enough tart and salty and sweet. However, my favorite had to be the beignets. WOW so fluffy in the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. The lemon yogurt sauce that comes with it is a perfect match with its tart, tangy and sweet flavors to the salty chili seasoning on the beignets. Not your everyday flat and square beignets, but these look more like takoyaki, the little Japanese octopus balls, if you know what I’m talking about. This place is hella cute, super hipster, aka super Austin-y. It’s got the whole chic chairs, fairy lights on tress, little benches and cute font on everything vibe going. Coffee shop meets breakfast-ery. Great for taking cute pics LOL. But parking sucks, good luck trying to park in the 3 spots + 1 handicap spot in their actual lot, or pay to park or you can also try your luck in the lot across the street. It says reserved for Josephine House but for after 5pm on Mondays? Probably can double check though.

I went here about 6 months ago so to be fair this is based on my memory. I went with a friend and we both remarked that this would be a good place to take a date or a date night. I remember thinking the food always good but thought that I could have a little more to feel satiated. Parking could be an issue and the drinks are expensive but the food is good and hey, it’s date night right?!

For dinner, I’d give it 4 stars. Lunch is just 3 stars. Lunch menu was more ladies lunch than date place. Nothing jumped out at me and their«best» meal today was a rice bowl that was really more salad than rice bowl. It was very good. Just wished for something more on the lunch menu. Alternatively, dinner here was great. Had an amazing steak that was cooked on a grill a few feet from our table. Dinner menu was excellent. The parking here is TerrIble. At night they have complimentary valet. They don’t at lunch. So I’d say avoid lunch but try it for dinner.

We had a great experience at this restaurant for brunch while on a short trip to Austin. We made a reservation but unfortunately we’re running late. They not only texted us twice, but accommodated to our late arrival by still seating us. The food was fantastic. Great service. We will definitely be coming back!

Gourmet food, amazing service and décor details that delight! The perfect place to take out-of-town guests or to treat yourself to a fancy brunch. Bring your pennies-entrees are a bit pricey at $ 15−20+ so it can get pricey especially if you are drinking, but it is worth it! One of the few restaurants where I am thrilled to sit inside or outside — their patio has heaters when it is cool. The Alsatian tart(quiche) which is decadent, delicious, large & filling and is served with a sizeable butter leaf salad. The Josephine Rice bowl is another great dish — it is visually beautiful and has a great mix of ingredients that you can’t get just anywhere. Their homemade bread basket is perfect to share with 6 slices of homemade bread — my favorite is the walnut!- for only $ 3& comes with salted butter and jam.

We were recommended Josephine house from a server at a place we loved, so we figured it had to be good… But were disappointed. Went for lunch, had some cocktails too. The drinks were so-so and the prices were high for what you got, with a limited menu. Not horrible. But not great.

This place was really good! I definitely will return here. I would love to have a private party here. The whole place was picturesque even down to the cute polka dot short straw. Waiters were everywhere. The food was cooked like a five star restaurant. I had pancakes which were so light and fluffy. I think those are the best pancakes I’ve had in my life lol. The drinks were very small but they definitely will attend to your table to refill. The prices were above normal but well worth it. Made with love all their food. I felt like I was at someone’s house. I will definitely return with friends or on a date.

This restaurant was simply adorable. In a miraculous turn of events, we stumbled in here for a late dinner upon our arrival to Austin after checking into our Airbnb apartment across the street. I’m glad we did, because the ambiance of this place was to die for. Cocktails were on point. Dishes were on point. Our fellow diners were on point(as was their style). The service left a little to be desired, however. I’d recommend grabbing a table in the quaint backyard under the string lights(during the evening for the full effect). I wasn’t there on a date, but could see Josephine House being a great option for a romantic evening out. We didn’t go for brunch, but each day around mid-morning as we’d walk by, it was PACKED. In my experience, this typically means the brunch food ain’t no joke, so I can only imagine I’d be equally impressed imbibing and dining on some brunch fare.

I almost hate to review this little restaurant because I want it to stay easy to get into. I’ve only eaten here for breakfast, brunch and lunch… but after a dozen times here and having gone through most items on the menu, I’ve never been disappointed. The ricotta/lemon pancakes are to die for. The spare rib hash is complex and wonderful. The burger was surprisingly good(I ordered it accidentally. Long story) Little things like the egg and avocado on fresh bread are well though out and presented beautifully. Stay away from pastry counter… everything is fresh, stunning and obviously made with real butter. Josephine House is one of my all time favs! Please stay away.

Have been wanting to try this cute little place out so my husband & I came for a date night. Parking is quite annoying having to in a residential neighborhood but wasn’t totally awful. Ambiance was romantic, service was fine, food was good. I had the chicken pot pie which was really yummy, husband had the burger which I get its just a burger but wasn’t really a fan. I think overall it is ok but def has some room for improvement. Especially around the wines they offer, completely overpriced. $ 14 for a small glass of wine but a huge burger entrée is $ 16? The rest of the menu prices seemed somewhat reasonable but I just couldn’t justify spending that much on just ONE glass. Ugh.

For having no reservation, the wait period was very reasonably 20 mins. Had very high expectations, as the ratings are very high. At a glance the visuals are great! Very impressive with the clean atmosphere, vintage look with a modern twist! We’re led to our table in the main dining room and immediately get served water by an employee, take note, NOT our server. It took our server, George nearly 10 mins to come greet us. As a server myself, I know that’s incredibly unprofessional. We ordered drinks and it took him anywhere from 10 – 20 mins to bring them to the table. I ordered a Mimosa which also never arrived to my table. We finally ordered our Huevos Rancheros, which was not bad, very brightly colored but not filling. We finished our entrees and our plates were removed by the bussers. Our waiter never cared to check up on us until everything was gone from the table. Goes to say WILLNOT be back. WILLNOT recommend. Awful service! Great ambiance but not worth the crappy service we got.

Josephine house is my favorite environment in MHM restaurant family. If you’re looking for a nice date night ambience, this is it! You’re in a small house that’s lightly decorated and dimly lit. I had the burger and my girlfriend had the chicken. They were both great! There’s a decent tea selection here! I ended up getting a pot of tea from Nantou, Taiwan. I’ve been to this small area of Taiwan before so I thought it was appropriate that I get the tea. While its a little on the expensive side, Josephine House is worth trying. Unless you live in the area, you’ll probably be spending your money better elsewhere more frequently.

I went to Josephine House for brunch and it was absolutely delicious! My friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to try Josephine House. Such a posh place to go, it’s a little house nestled in a quaint little neighborhood. When we arrived the place was pretty busy, and I was worried we would have to wait for a table. Fortunately for us, we didn’t have to wait long(5 minutes tops) and we were seated at a table outside within minutes. I definitely wouldn’t recommend going when the weather is bad or when it’s really hot, since half the seating seems to be outside(unless of course you made a reservation to be seated inside). I ordered the fruit salad, chocolate almond babka, and the lemon vanilla white tea. Everything I tried was heavenly. — The best decision you will ever make is trying the chocolate almond babka(yumm)! Another helpful tip: parking is pretty limited, be prepared to walk some if you can find a close spot.

This review is strictly for the burger since I am doing the MMH Burger Challenge this week. My next to last stop on the burger challenge was Josephine House. Their burger is a pretty standard one actually. It’s got some fancy aioli on it to tart it up a bit, otherwise it’s perfectly normal. There is nothing spectacular about the burger here that would warrant the $ 18 price tag. The burger was really yummy, and it was cooked very nicely… but I can’t help but feel a bit ripped by the cost. In short, it’s just like all the other burgers from the burger challenge: Yummy but expensive. The value just isn’t there.

Josaphine House is literally a house. The most picturesque house ever. With an elegantly designed white interior and super cute backyard patio. We sat outside at one of the booths for a drink and cheese plate, both of which were delicious, not that i was surprised. Classy joint, will be back!

I love getting brunch with my girlfriends, so for my birthday I wanted to come try this place out! Just as all of the other reviews have stated, the interior of this restaurant is so adorable! I love the white tables and chairs and how each table had a cute little flower on it too. The waitress was extremely attentive and always made sure our glass was full. I ordered the Josephine Rice Bowl with chicken as the meat. The plating of the food was absolutely beautiful, and all of the vegetables were extremely fresh; however, for $ 5 I would expect a bit more chicken than what they gave me on my plate. Oh, I also learned that I don’t like brussel sprouts, haha. They just taste like little bitter cabbages! Overall, really wonderful place to come with your friends! Love the spot and will come back to try something new.

Adorable Clarksville brunch spot! First off — the restaurant itself is gorgeous to the last detail! Inside seating and outdoor — we sat at the two person table on the front patio! The menu changes is and printed daily! But they always have some vegetarian options and delicious and beautiful pastries if sweet is your thing(savory, salty is my thing). My friend and I both ended up ordering the huevos rancheros, because they came highly recommended by our server! Delicious! We also tried two of their brunch cocktails — we liked one and LOVED the other — the Jo House Fruit Cup(rye, muddled lemon, lime, orange, mint, cucumber; it was incredibly refreshing and light — perfect for sitting outside on the patio. Street parking only, but it’s not usually a problem! There’s lot of street parking! Not too many cons. I will say that it’s a little on the pricey side. $ 16 for huevos rancheros, and it’s not like the dish has expensive ingredients on it! And you might want to make a reservation. We showed up at 10:30(exactly when they open for brunch) and there was only one table available. To be on the safe side, make a reservation!

This review is regarding brunch. They do pancakes really, really well. The delicious sweet potato pancakes with pecans were incredibly light and fluffy in texture, yet rich in flavor. The pancakes are perfect for sharing and then getting another savory dish to balance them out. We also had the«breakfast» burger, which is to say a burger with an egg-over-easy on top. All the burger ingredients were high quality, including the fresh baked bun. The zucchini carrot bread was good, but the accompanying marmalade really enhanced it. Coffee is French Press or Americano. The adorable house-turned-restaurant makes for a very pleasant venue, and there are nice options for outdoor patio or picnic-style seating as well. Parking is a challenge as there are only three spots, so you are left on your own to find a spot in the surrounding neighborhood.
