OMG, I LOVED the food I ate at this truck! We walked to this place and there was no line! The woman at the truck was super friendly and the food came out fast. We ate it at the picnic table right in the parking lot. We had the chicken taco, the carnitas(pork) taco, and the beef quesadilla. All of it was AMAZING. First, the corn tortillas for the tacos seem to be perhaps put on a lightly greased griddle? YUM! The flavors of the tacos were amazing, as were the sauces served on the side. And the beef quesdilla was delicious. It’s served with sour cream, some chopped lettuce and avocado. I only wish their was more avocado. Their meats ate perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection — nothing tough or grisly. We tried another highly rated taco truck in Austin and were SO disappointed with the experience compared to Las Trancos. It absolutely earns it 5 stars.

These tacos never let me down, and don’t even get me started on the burritos. The taste of the meat is just amazing, no matter which type of taco you choose. My favorite taco stop!

Another 5-star taco joint in Austin… The service: Excellent, fast & friendly. FYI they now accept cards, no longer cash only. The food: I did my usual(2) carne asada and(1) pastor taco test and was completely happy with the results. Nicely charred, cut and seasoned juicy asada with the perfect amount of chopped white onions & cilantro on top. The pastor was fantastic with flavorful pineapple bits and seasoned perfectly. Not sure how else to describe it, haha… The corn tortillas were also deliciously earthy. Salsa verde was excellent, my mouth is watering typing this, actually. I have no idea why some people go to a taco truck and then complain about the location or seating or that it’s «right on a busy road»…that behavior baffles me. For being a truck in a parkinglot, Trancas has some of the best seating and pleasant atmosphere as can be had in a dirt lot off of Ceasar Chavez. Whoever complains about this set-up needs to reassess themselves and focus on the delicious food. I’m SO glad I visited and ate here, now I’ve got yet ANOTHER amazing taco vendor.

By far, my new favorite and IMHO the best tacos in Austin. My previous favorite was another well known Taco truck further away from I35 on Caesar Chavez. Las Trancas is a few degrees better without the ridiculous wait at the other. I went at 11:15am on a Saturday and got my food in under 2 minutes. Amazing. I got the Polo, Barbacoa and Asada tacos on flour tortillas. Flour tortillas better than you can buy in the store, strong guess they are made on site. Tacos are on the small side, but well priced and amazing quality. Will be here often

I’ve been on a taco binge in Austin for about five days now, and this is by far the best I’ve had. It was a bit of a hoof out of downtown(and through some stretches that might make some pedestrians uncomfortable), but it was worth every step. I had a beef, pastor, and pollo tacos, all on warm corn tortillas, all of them exemplary — and a far cry from anything I was able to find downtown. Update: This place was so good, I came back the next day for a burrito. Which was amazing. As in easily the best burrito I’ve had(an a long and active career of eating burritos). I’d give more stars if I could.

I sat down on a chair connected to a table and it fell down ruining my pants. The people working there didn’t care. I am never going back to that place again!

This place serves up simple and delicious tacos. I particularly enjoyed the buche(pork stomach) and beef cheek(cabeza) tacos, since they’re not commonly offered at other taco places. The tacos are cheap and pretty light fare, though packed with flavor. They are dressed simply with onion and cilantro and held together by sturdy double corn tortillas. I also had a few bites of the chorizo quesadilla. It was tasty but extremely greasy, definitely more appropriate for late-night munchies. The couple of tables set up next to the truck make for a nice, casual dining experience on a sunny day.

Coming from the valley, I’d call myself sort of a taco connoisseur. I’ve lived in central Texas for 4 years now and this place has the best street tacos around. Very legit. I usually get 3 asada tacos on corn tortillas for about $ 5.50. Perfect price for a quick and delicious lunch in east Austin. Also the guys there are super nice and I go there so much that they give me a lil discount every now and then.

Holy crap, I had to write this review while still sitting here basking in the glory of the three tacos I just ate. For $ 7 I stuffed my face with one pork, one beef, and one chicken taco, each one as good as the last, and washed them down with a Mexican Coke. Those were, hands down, the best tacos I have ever had. But don’t go here. I want them all for myself.

Taco heaven! Stumbled across this humble taco truck while wandering East Austin Studio Tours — by far the best tripas and lengua tacos I’ve ever had in my life! Not much else to say other than they tasted great, were super cheap, and pretty fast. Definitely five star. I also tried the al pastor, not my fav but not bad. Lastly I ordered the chicharron after having the tripas, thinking that it’d be the fried kind and also amazing since the tripas were… incorrect — this style of chicharron was boiled or something, pig skin that’s super slimy and fatty! Not really what I was looking for but everything else was grand!

I walk here to eat all the time. Great tacos and burritos, and super affordable. Really friendly, easy-going service. Very fast too. One of my favorite spots in town.

Ambiance: This is a food truck, they have seating, but it’s right beside East Cesar Chavez. I would recommend grabbing these to go, but I have never done that, since I cannot wait that long to devour them. Cuisine: These are authentic street tacos, or so says a white female from WV. They are delicious, save yourself reading the rest of this review, just go. Now. I will fight anyone who gives Las Trancas less than 5 Stars. Service: You’ll never have to wait long for these, the team inside are pros. Tip for anyone coming, pay with quarters or have exact change, they can use it since most of their tacos are $ 1.50/taco.

Since 2009 I have been looking for authentic Tacos her in Austin and today I got really close! I am really picky when it comes to tacos and salsa! These may not be the delicious tacos from Dallas, but this is close enough! They were delicious and the service was fast! I really like that they have traditional options like tacos de tripa. With that being said, if you are looking for great street tacos go check this place out! :)

Authentic style street tacos. The tacos themselves are about the size of your palm so they’re on the smaller side but they only cost a buck fitty so get a few to fill you up. The food came out quickly and the meat was tender, fresh tasting, and seasoned well. This is one of the few taco trucks that sells cabeza and buche which you should try if you’re feeling adventurous. I love both of those types of tacos so I was really excited that they existed. Seriously though these street tacos are delicious. They come out fast and they come out delicious. Throw this owner some money and recognition he deserves it.

Dear lord I love this place! We’ve been going here for 3 years now. The Dollar Taco Truck. The first time we came upon place was after SXSW2012 after imbibing a wee too much drinks, lots of dancing, and LOTS of walking. We were starving and found a food truck and all it had was a banner that said ‘$ 1 Tacos’. We said, f*** it, we’re starving, and for $ 1, I’ll take a chance. We started off with 3 tacos each, and they were so delicious, we barely looked up to breathe. When we mowed through those, we each decided to get 2 – 3 more each… well, we were limited by how much cash we had on hand. This place is CASHONLY! So we go through about 18 tacos between the 3 of us. Yes eighteen! They are small street tacos, but we were drunk and hungry. We thought we’d never go back,(the food tasted so good because we were hungry and drunk) but we couldn’t stop thinking about those tacos. So, we had to test out the theory to see if was just us, or were the tacos truly that spectacular. We go back the next day, sober. And yes. They were as delish as we remembered! My cousin who is from Cali has lots of tacos and he says these are on par with the some of the best street tacos around. I agree. I don’t even like onions, but I still get the tacos with cilantro, onion and on corn tortillas. We always ask for extra green salsa and limes. It’s not *the* green creamy salsa other places have, but it’s solid in it’s own right. Every time he comes into town, his first request is ‘When can we hit up The Dollar Taco Truck’? Also, the tacos are up to $ 1.50 now. Still. These are STREET tacos, meaning no fancy, schmamcy mayo sauces and salsa bar. And this is a trailer. No bathrooms, no sinks. Bring your hand wipes if you’re worried about it. Our favs: pastor and chorizo and carne asada. God damn it’s good. Why is there no long ass line here? No idea. Take that as a cue to check it out before it ends up on one of those food blogs, and then has a 3 hour wait. You’ve been warned.

Where do I begin? This place. My mouthing is already drooling thinking of this place. I already have a Pavlovian response to drool after 1 trip. We stopped by for a quick taco treat while walking around the east side and ended up eating 6 tacos. Oops! We had the chorizo, carne asada, pollo, and vegetarian. Everything but the pollo could have easily been top taco of my life. The chicken one is good but just not as good as the others. They have a tasty but spicy green salsa that you should pour on all said tacos. The tacos come with onions, cilantro and lime. Legit. The crowd here on a Saturday morning was great! Still drunk college bros, 40+ MAMIL(middle aged man in lycra after a bike ride), construction workers, and us! Stop by for a taco or 6 if you’re like us.

Las Trancas is now open until midnight. And recently they got even more tables to sit at while devouring Austin’s best and least expensive Mexican street tacos. Heading east on Cesar Chavez, just past Cenote coffee shop but a few blocks before Austin’s best, yet most expensive, tacos at Vera Cruz All Natural at the shell gas station, this hidden gem never disappoints. Look for the«SIGNS» sign. The trailer is in that lot. Simple-meat, onions and cilantro. Comes with a lime or two to squeeze on your taco to stave off the scurvy. Their quesadilla also comes with salad and avocado. Red sauce, typically is less spicy then the green. Today, though, it was the opposite ***IMPORTANT*** They do NOT add pineapple(chunks, pieces, or juice) to their Al Pastor. In my opinion this is a good thing. You decide.

All of the tacos I had were pretty delicious and there is a tremendous variety of meat available here. I high recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying some cuts you don’t normally eat. At $ 1.50 per taco it’s no big loss if something isn’t to your liking. That said, the tacos are quite small. I ordered 4 and was still a little hungry. They aren’t a bad deal but they also aren’t the amazing deal that«Tacos $ 1.50» might lead you to beleive

This place is so money. $ 1.50 a pop for tasty, authentic tacos. I love the Beef Cheek and Beef Tongue. Don’t be scared they taste awesome! I usually get 4 for a solid meal but if you’re extra hungry go for 5 or 6. They’re also open all the time. These are the real deal!
