I love donuts. My name is Luci. I obvi had high expectations for this place. Spoiler alert — they lived up! Lucy’s is a great little food truck that maximized flavor in miniature donuts. They have all types of seasoning and dipping sauces to please the most picky of dessert lovers. I’m not a huge sweet fan, but these could turn me into a believer. Lucy’s, keep on frying up those delicious donut delectables. You’re pretty sweet.

This place is not only a mystery it’s amazing! If you haven’t stopped here you need too. I am actually impressed how fast and good it is. Not only are they fresh, hit and can’t stop. Need to walk away before I hook up this trailer and take it back to Chicago and park it in our backyard!

In honor of National Donuts Day, I am going to post a review on my Little Lucy’s experience from last weekend. My friend and I were drinking on Rainey and decided we needed to get some food in us. We waited in a taco food truck line for 15 minutes and it had not moved an inch. Tacos were coming out every 5 minutes one-by-one for a huge party in front of us, so we had to move on. The bright pink Little Lucy’s truck caught our eye and my donut loving friend said«AH! Donuts!» It was not what I was exactly in the mood for, but I am glad I followed her craving on this one. We got a bag of mini cinnamon sugar donuts with nutella dipping sauce. SHUTUP! It was so amazing! First off, they fill this bag up! It seemed bottomless! They were for SURE the best donuts I have ever had. We literally talked about this place all weekend long. I can’t wait to try more of their flavors! Yum!

This place is amazing! Decent prices, quick wait time, and delicious donuts. Everyone is super friendly and you won’t be waiting long unless it’s a crazy slammed night which we all know Rainey can be. Try their strawberry or banana with Nutella dipping! I think they have a cookies and cream special going this month that the manager let me sample for free yesterday when he was trying them out. I hope they keep that one because it’s pretty rad. Try them out!

Went here on vacation and thought the donuts were bad. Dry and masked with cheap sugar. 20 minute wait in line. Don’t recommend

What the donuts. I had a bag of pistachio lavender donuts and they were disgusting. The bag was filled to the brim with what seemed like a whole $@?!$@! pound of bright green sugar. [See photo.] I couldn’t find the donuts. Literally buried in sugar. The sugar smelled and tasted like a floral candle — and not in a good way. It took 10 minutes for them to even notice me and take my order. The chalkboard menu on the side of the truck never mentioned anything about dippings being an extra $ 1. It is misleading you to think that purchasing a bag of donuts gets you a topping AND dipping flavor. Yet, I was charged extra for dipping. I believe they have their good flavors and good days. But my first experience says that Little Lucy’s is overpriced, has at least one gross flavor, and a bit scammy. I honestly didn’t know you could mess up donuts before this…

The donuts at Lucy’s are a fun little treat for when you are hopping bars on Rainey! The larger bag is a better value, however you can only pic one flavor. The donuts were pretty average but satisfied my sweet tooth.

After battling a super salty taco truck not too far from Lucy’s, I needed some sugar to counter the attack on my tongue. And we all know I cannot resist a cute dog logo, a pink truck and bright lights– blessed to not have been born a moth or fly. The Unilocal check-in affords you a dipping sauce for free, otherwise, they are a $ 1 a pop. If I were you, I’d take advantage of this. I did not need my Nutella dip at all. The pistachio lavender donuts really hit the spot. They were actually regular donuts with the flavored sugar sprinkled on top, the lavender being more prominent. The donuts are the perfect size for anyone who isn’t a huge fan of donuts(raises hand), and is having a craving for sweets. Easy to share among a few friends, and priced well. My only critique is that the donuts were not filled up entirely or evenly distributed; the insides of these already mini, sugary tubes were half hollow. I brought these back to NY with me and they were still good the day after. Mmm, my hankering for these is returning.

I’m not a donut person but this was pretty good! I got the blackberry walnut with white chocolate dip(check-in for the free dip!) and my friend got the peanut butter banana with chocolate dip. Everything was really good but SUPER sweet so we also ordered coffee too! The coffee was really good and it turned out to be Folgers. Heck yah. get in my cup! Highly recommended but I would share the small with someone. We each got the small size and couldn’t finish. We tried to share the rest with a transient but got yelled at because he said he was watching his calories. uhhh. okaay theeen.

I stopped by during SXSW and I’m not sure if it’s the timing I guess they can and they did up their prices and the donuts were more donut holes than mini donuts. The espresso/coffee donut was literally a ball of grease dunked in a bag with some coffee grounds thrown on top. Riddle me impressed by how not impressive this was. Rather disappointing and I wasted $ 8 for a tiny bag I didn’t even eat more than 5 donut HOLES.

I really enjoyed the donuts here. We stopped here while waiting for our table at Bangers. We got the Little size and there was more than 6 in there for sure. It was plenty to share between two people. I ordered the cinnamon sugar topping. It was very good, I only wish that the cinnamon sugar topping was more well coated on each donut. It was sparse on some and very well covered on others. The only downfall of this place I think is there were a lot of bees. I bee a lot of bees, in the trash area and even in the food trailer. It didn’t appear that the donuts were made fresh to order, as they were pre made and then tossed freshly so to your order. I really loved the signs though, very creative and Austin cute. I would definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

Annnnd no night on Rainey Street would be complete without these little nuggets(or so Im told). One of our girls decided to stop mid-walk and wait in a 10 minute line for these things. and we were all oh-so-glad-she-did. She went with just simple cinnamon and sugar, and picked two sauces — chocolate and raspberry. The raspberry sauce was amazing. The chocolate was a little gummy and completely overwhelmed the lightness of the doughnuts. The wait on a Saturday evening was intense, but the two in the cart were hilarious and fun, and it was well worth it to shovel warm doughnuts into our faces.

I bought the little bag — $ 5 which promises 6+ mini donuts and I got about 12 mini donuts — a WONDERFUL surprise and so worth my money! The only guy working there at the time was nice and friendly. He explained the concept that they homemake all their sugars which is awesome! I had their chocolate hazelnut donuts which were nicely fried and deliciously cute to eat. I will definitely try one of their dipping sauces next time!

[A GUIDETOLITTLELUCY’S] 1. Buy the large bag($ 6) — Around 10 mini donuts in a large. They’re super fluffy, so they’ll go down easy! 2. Choose your donut flavor — Every flavor is named after a dog. Their menu isn’t on their website but the donut flavors are in the Unilocal Gallery! We got the pistachio and lavender. Delicious and fragrant, but not overpowering. 3. Choose your topping — I opted for sugar & sugar. Also, the donuts are so hot and fresh when it comes out the sugar ends up melting into crispy crunchy bits. 3.5 — Get a chocolate dip if you’re like me and really enjoy making messes out of your donut experiences. 4. Receive donuts, wait a couple of seconds — I ate it too fast and ended up almost burning my tongue. Cursed with freshly fried donuts and no self-control. 5. Finish donuts in 30 seconds and wonder where did all the donuts go. 6. Consider buying more.

If you have that sweet tooth craving after a fun night out on Rainy Street, I would recommend stopping by the little pink food truck to get some mini donuts. And don’t skimp out on getting a little bag… the large is so worth every penny and there are so many mini donuts that its enough to share with a plus one. The chow chow donuts which consist of cinnamon and sugar sprinkled around the donuts is the perfect first donut to try if you are new to Little Lucy’s. Now adding a dipping sauce to the mix, you have just elevated your experience to the next level. Of course chocolate may be the good, safe option-but I recommend the caramel sauce to dip your donuts and your finger tips in if you run out of donuts. Overall-you should not compare Little Lucy’s to Gourdough’s just because they are both serve donuts. Both have two distinct different flavors and its more than allowed to have more than one favorite donut shop in town.

I really enjoyed this place despite my parents owning a donut shop and me having grown sick of donuts lol. I got the large bag of cinnamon sugar donuts with the chocolate dipping. The donuts were so good! The first half of the bag was really fresh and you could tell that they were just made. However, the bottom half wasn’t hot at all like they were the old batch. The donuts were delicious either way and I can’t complain. I used Groupon which got me a nice deal to use at the trailer. There is limited parking in the streets but walking around Rainey was a fun new experience if you’ve never been! I’ll definitely be back to th the other flavors they have.

These doughnuts are little bites of heaven! For $ 5 I got the bag of cinnamon sugar to share. I should’ve got my own big bag! They came out hot and smelling so good. I checked in here for a free caramel dipping sauce. These doughnuts are amazing! They are light, sweet, and have a slight crisp on the outside. Inside is soft and just perfect! The caramel is one of the best caramel sauces I’ve had and only enhanced the already perfect doughnuts! I’ll definitely be back.

Omg… How am I just finding out about this mini donut place?! The caramel dipping sauce with the cinnamon sugar donuts is AMAZING! A perfect end to a Sunday Funday of bar hopping on Rainey. I also got to try their new chocolate sugar donuts and it’s perfect for any chocolate lover. Don’t forget to check in and get that free dipping sauce! Calories don’t exist on the weekends, right?
