Great if you’re super drunk and super duper hungry. Not recommended for sober people. I got a Margherita pizza and although the diced(yes, in large cubes) tomatoes was cold + it didn’t have basil, the dough was surprisingly soft and tasteful. Last resort type of eatery.

I really liked this place! The staff was super friendly and helpful. They made me a vegan pizza which was totally awesome. So awesome in fact that we went back the next night for more. I did notice that after we were served they closed the truck for a little while so I was really glad that I got my order in!

Hands down the best pizza in Austin on the coolest street in town. I had The Biff and the Goat. Both were amazing. I’m from New York and picky about pizza but this place was awesome. Plus the staff was amazing and super nice.

Worst place ever. Waited 45 min for pizza. The owner threw pizzas awake right in front of us because there were ‘holes’ in the pizza. Thanks.

Absolute worst experience in my life. Traveled down from Seattle, ended up in the food court-ish area where this pizza truck was and it was by far the absolute worst experience I ever encountered for food trucks or anything in my life. Absolutely horrible though and through

I came to Firefly trying to grab a late night bite, which I imagine is where most of their business comes from. The pizza looked great, but I left without any slices and feeling more harassed than I’ve ever been at any type of food-serving establishment. I placed an order for 2 cheese slices and left a $ 2 tip when I paid for the slices. I waited patiently for 5 – 10 minutes and noticed a bunch of people behind me in line were picking up slices before me, so I went up and inquired about my order. It seems they had forgotten to put it in, but the guy apologized and said he’d put them in right away. I sat and waited, listening for my name, and several minutes later as I again saw more patrons picking up their pizzas I went back up and inquired about my cheese slices. A different man asked for my name and what I ordered, and again it hadn’t been put in. At this point I was fed up, but kept my composure and said at this point I’d just like a refund. The man immediately snapped and became angry out of nowhere, raising his voice as he asked whether I paid in cash or card. I took about two seconds to think about it(I would usually opt for card but I had to pay in cash so I could get change for a cash tip) and he started yelling something to the effect of «oh you don’t even know do you?». I told him cash, and he basically threw a handful of $ 1 bills at me. I didn’t even bother to ask for my tip back because I just wanted to get out of there and order food from a more respectful truck. As bad as that experience was, it wasn’t the end of my harassment. I met my friend at the Gyro truck on the other end of the food truck park and started hearing my name being yelled by someone every few minutes. Eventually I saw the angry pizza truck guy(who seemed to carry himself like a manager, by the way) leaning out of the truck and yelling my name sarcastically toward me, startling some of the people actually waiting for pizza. Since there were no males in line at this point, I was pretty certain this was pointed harassment toward me. I was nothing but respectful so this was completely uncalled for. Look, it doesn’t matter if you’re a 5-star restaurant or a food truck serving mostly drunk people outside of a strip of bars. There’s absolutely no reason to harass your customers when they’re only asking for a reasonable level of service(e.g. you remembering to put their order in). Especially when they’ve tipped you more than 20% before even receiving their order! I hope Firefly either gets that message, or they get replaced by a food truck that does.

The pizza looked good, but unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to try it as they ‘forgot about our order’ several times before ultimately being d**** to my friend when we went up and asked about our slices(for the 2nd time). I get it, you’re busy, you’re dealing with mostly drunken idiots at that point so maybe you’ve had a string of unruly Customers– but that doesn’t matter if you want to stay in business. When I worked for Nordstrom, we had a saying, ‘Treat every Customer as if they were your Grandmother’. I can’t imagine anyone talking to my Grandmother the way he was spoken down to. My recommendation? Try the lamb gyro across the way or the tacos on the left, both were outstanding and came insult-free!

The Margherita pie was tasty. The San Marzano tomatoes and the basil produced a good sweet taste and, mixed with the 1200 degree warm crust, this little pie from a truck was pretty solid.

Excellent pizza. The best around. They are like French or Italian pizza. Only problem is that they are not opened everyday. And sometimes late. But so good, got to forgive them.

Like many who work in the service industry, I tip generously because I know what it’s like to be the one behind the counter. This evening, the blonde girl who served me the single $ 4.00 slice of pizza I ordered, watched me toss her $ 5.00 for her troubles. Then immediately proceeded to cut me off mid-pleasantry, markedly rude, and begin addressing the customer behind me. It’s one thing not to say thanks. It’s quite another to take your dissatisfaction with your position out on a customer. Especially one who’s trying to express a little solidarity.

I like New Haven style. It’s like New York but thinner and crispier. The pizza here was great. Better than Homeslice. The brick oven and fresh basil really come through on the margheritta. I would ask for it well done next time. It was a little dougy but other than that on point. Some of the best pizza I, as a north easterner, have had in Austin.

I’m not a huge Pizza fan, and this is hands down some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. I ordered The Goat, the cheese was tangy, and the crust was crispy with a nice chew. Id definitely be back.

I recently went here for the first time with my friends. I wasn’t hungry so I just ended up getting one slice to eat the next day. I got The Goat which has pistachio pesto sauce, goat cheese, prosciutto, pecorino romano, roasted garlic cloves, and roasted mushrooms. It tasted so good that I kind of regretted not getting more slices. I gave it one less star because the menu didn’t have very many options(about 3 I think). This is understandable though for a food truck. A whole pie will cost you about $ 12 – 13. Not sure how much a slice costs since my boyfriend paid at the time(thanks boo ;) jk about the boo, but really thank you)

My girlfriend and I grabbed a full size pie late at night and it was unfortunately one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. I’m not saying it to be harsh, it’s just the truth. It wasn’t cooked all the way through, the cheese seemed old and dry, and the crust was powdery. It was really a shame, and I hope a one off, but I’m not going to try it again.

They really deserve 3.5 stars, but if they’re going to offer pizza options that aren’t the greatest, then I don’t feel compelled to give them a pity star. But maybe I’ll come back and have something awesome, thus necessitating a rating change. But for now, they were merely good enough, just barely worth the price(and I didn’t even pay for this one). I had half the Margherita, which was basically cheese, tomatoes, and basil. I couldn’t really see much tomato sauce, unless invisibility is an attribute of San Marzano tomato sauce. As far as the advertised sea salt was concerned, I didn’t taste any, but I guess my main thing was that the pizza was strangely tasteless, even with the basil. Maybe San Marzano tomato sauce is supposed to be bland. Why a bland offering? So confused. But the tomatoes and basil tasted fresh, so that was nifty. The tomatoes and cheese did tend to slide around – you’ll want to eat this with the conventional valley fold(taco-style) down the middle of the slice. And since this move insulates the toppings well, don’t burn your tongue eating it in a hurry! The crust was cooked well though – slightly crunchy on the bottom and chewy on the inside. That was pretty awesome. There were a few other promising options on the menu though, so I should be back. But I sure hope there’s some good flavor on whatever option I pick next!!!

Great pizzas. The price per slice is a little high, but if you get a whole pie it’s a pretty good deal. The toppings are high quality and you can definitely taste the charring from the wood fire in the crust. Backspace and Due Forni might have slightly better pizzas, but they also cost 50%+ more when all is said and done. I don’t think you can do better for $ 10 – 12.

I actually happened upon this at a wedding they were catering at. They actually had their wood fire oven on wheels/trailer on site. It was interesting, you could watch their whole process from beginning to end if you wanted. New York White with chicken– this was my fave out of the pizzas they offered that night. I wish I had taken a picture to do it justice but you’ll have to take my word for it. Roasted garlic sauce, three cheese blend, roasted garlic, ricotta cheese, and basil. That’s all I have to say. The pizza sells itself. But really, the chicken chunks on top were juicy and tender. The sauce was yummy. The added softness of the ricotta cheese randomly dispersed on top of the already cheesy creamy pizza was a nice added flavor and texture. The cheese pulled after each bite(that’s when you know it’s good cheese). And my favorite part that I don’t see why other pizza places don’t do it — the flavorful crust. This is ironic because I generally eat everything but the crust. I don’t know what they do to the crust but the flavor was yummy. Maybe herbs mixed in or olive oil? Needless to say I ate the whole pizza both slices I had. Pepperoni — this was also good. There’s not too much to explain — it was a typical pepperoni pizza. I definitely would like to order the New York White with chicken again. Yum.

We love this place. Love. Since moving to Austin, I’ve been to a LOT of food trucks.(and my waistline thanks me for it). I’ve never seen someone master a wood fired pizza with such ease as Firefly Pies does in a food truck. So, so awesome. They’ve got some unique flavors and my heart belongs to the Eastside, which is a lovely pie with pepperoni, basil, chili peppers and enough garlic to hope you’re sharing it with someone you love, which is JUST how I like it. We usually nix the olives. Firefly Pies may be pricier than some of the other options than the rest of the Rainey St. food trucks, but you can tell the owner, Josh, doesn’t skimp on quality. He told us for SXSW, he dropped a boatload to maintain the same quality throughout the undoubted quantity he saw that week. We noticed. We’ve never been disappointed. Dude knows his pizza.

I was totally blown away at how amazing their pizza is. And I’ve gone out looking for great pizza here in Austin. Yes, it’s $ 8 but when you bite into it and savor the flavor you will know where that extra money went. Just the right amount of sauce(which is not salty at all, thanks!), cheese and meat. And the garlic chunks… wow. They just melt in your mouth and deliver the KO punch to the combo of preceding awesome flavors. Sure you can get a $ 3 dollar slice of cheese covered dough from down the street… but you owe it to yourself to try this place at least once. Small pizza. big flavor. Best pizza I’ve had since I’ve been in Austin. To the owner of this establishment… you’re doing it right! Keep it up.

Great spot in the Rainey street trailer park. Great flavor combos and friendly service! We had one of the specialty pies — the new york white. While a little greasy, it was to be expected with the ammount of cheese on our pizza. Crust was thin but super crispy — they are made in a specialty pizza oven, which i found impressive for a food trailer. The man at the counter was nice and chatty and the pizza came out quickly. $ 9 bucks for the personal pizza and a water. It hit the spot after a night out on Rainey Street! i would happily return to try other pizzas.
