Nice southern menu with what looked to be creative a tasty choices. Started with apps. Chicken gizzards were pure gristle. Fried green tomatoes pretty good. Austin oysters pretty good but really small. Sides were good. Had smoked potato salad, mashed sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes with gravy. Fried Chicken was terribly dry. Mentioned it to server and she apologized and offered to replace it. I said no thank you but I thought she should know. I said it nicely just as a heads up. She insisted on replacing it then came back from the kitchen and told me the cooks said they tried it and it was fine. So i am either mistaken or lying??? Everything came out within 3 to 5 minutes of ordering which means all was pre cooked. She admitted the chicken was but that it is always good and moist which is impossible as if it is left under a light, not only is it unsanitary but will definitely dry out. Kind of grossed us out. Too bad. We had been looking forward to trying this place as it has good reviews for downtown location. And it was our anniversary. Bummer. Another great location with lake views gone to waste.

Food: Hog island oysters were ok. Chicken livers good. fried green tomatoes ok. signature drink good. Service: Great. Atmosphere : Inside: Bland. white room with picnic tables. Outside.. Chucky cheese. I asked one the servers if there was a kids birthday party or something. Seriously.. 40 or more kids running and screaming everywhere outside. My wife and I dropped $ 100 on dinner and could barely hold a conversation with all the noise.

The service is terrible and the chicken, mediocre at best. Maybe it was a bad night but the oil didn’t seem hot enough and it was very greasy. The breading has very little seasoning. The smaller pieces were better than the larger. That said the waffles are top notch. Crunch reveals a light, soft interior. And I don’t even like waffles!!! Smoked potato salad, boring… grits pretty good. So while there are some good things going on there… it is not worth your time.

The staff is unfriendly and some right out rude. They don’t greet you and make you wait forever to order. The food is ok but not the same each time. The place is dirty. The view is nice. But not worth the hype. «the one off 620» btw the waiter was almost angry that I went to order at the bar for food. I waited 20 min.

Staff and view are great! Brunch was served instantly. I got Chicken and waffles. The chicken looked like thighs but they were crunchy coated tasty breasts. The waffles were oily but I didn’t send them back cuz I knew I couldn’t eat all of them. I would go back for the chicken, the view and the friendly staff.

When I think of fried chicken I don’t think spicy chicken it sucked I took one bite and my mouth was on fire :(everything there is so spicy :(we will never be back again… I think the only thing on the menu that wasn’t spicy was the salad Now let’s talk about our waiter DAVID. He was very rude and demeaning and acted like we were stupid and he didn’t listen to what I said about Sweet Tea NOLEMON also when we needed something we couldn’t find him. Then i ordered chicken tenders I had to pay extra for a side that’s ridiculous and then when we got our food the fries were so spicy I couldn’t eat them so we tried to send them back and ask for fries with no seasoning and the waiter asked if we had tried them… Ewwwwww why would you give out food to someone else that someone sent back. Then when we were done with our food and ready to go he MADE us take our order to go and told us to give it to a homeless person on the way home. He was telling us how disgusting how much food especially chicken they waste at that place and how mad it makes him… WEWILLNEVERBEBACKAGAIN!!!

I’m so happy this place opened up in our area BEAUTIFUL view and the food, drinks and service have been great so far! I got the roasted chicken which is GREAT and has tons of flavor, and of course the fried chicken is awesome! If you’re a sweet tooth you MUST try the Elvis pie! It might be my very favorite dessert! We went for brunch and sat on the patio which was gorgeous! I had the omelet with goat cheese which wasn’t spectacular but it was good. My husband got the chicken and waffles and loved it. This place beats the Oasis hands down because Lucy’s has the amazing view ANDGOODFOODANDDRINKS which is perfect! I’d take friends and visitors from out of town here!

After hearing about the Lucy’s in downtown Austin, we were excited to have a location much closer to home in western Austin. To boot, they have a great location right on Lake Travis! The sunset was beautiful, and there’s plenty of outdoor space for kids to play and for summertime sips(but not in January!). At first glance, the menu looked fantastic. Only expecting fried chicken, starchy sides, and not much else, we were pleasantly surprised at the varied menu. Many familiar Southern dishes are available with a Texas twist. We will be back to try more beyond the namesake chicken. The«Lucy Basilia» cocktail was excellent. You can tell the bartenders made the drink by hand from the crushed fruit and fresh basil. Hopefully the other drinks are just as good. We began dinner with an order of fried chicken livers. The first batch was not cooked thoroughly(some pieces were bloody). Our waitress was clueless about whether the liver was sanitary. Another waiter walked by and immediately tossed it out. The second batch was perfect and worth the hassle(they took the charge off the bill, which was nice). The cornbread muffins were disappointingly dry and bland. The tequila butter was good, though. Our main«course» was the bucket of fried chicken(we requested all dark meat). The chicken was good overall; not the best I’ve ever had, but memorably tasty and well-spiced. It was a little on the greasy side, though. Both the mac & cheese and grits were above average. A dash of hot sauce elevated them to deliciousness. For dessert, we shared a slice of the sweet tea pie and the moon pie. Both were excellent and travel well to-go. Overall the food was great if you know what to order. The service was somewhat lacking(waitress seldom seen), but not terrible. Price was very reasonable compared to The Oasis(a «rival» lake-view restaurant), and the food was much better. Hopefully they sort out their kinks with time as this joint has a lot of potential. We will be back to try more!

Get the bucket of fried chicken. It’s called Lucy’s Fried Chicken!!! The chicken is fantastic. The sides, however, are small and leave something to be desired. The staff is hit or miss. Been twice, would give an A+ to the first server and a D to the second. Overall, great place to go on this end of town where fun options are limited.

Ok,. I gave them 3 chances. The first was their opening week. So, benefit of the doubt. But Bad. They were NOT busy. Our waitress was not experienced(let’s just assume that). The chicken was cooked in grease that should’ve been changed sooner bc ours was very dark and tasted burnt. The sides we ordered had been sitting too. It was 3pm(ish) in between lunch/dinner. I talked to the manager, he was open and accepting of our concerns. 2nd visit — we called in an order to pick up. Wednesday eve, 6:30pm. Walked up, no hostess, waited figured they were seating. No one comes to stand, servers walk past, dont assist or ask. I finally go to the bar on the outside half. I could see a to go order packaged up. Barstaff counting $, back to me. I flag down a server, with pink hair, and tada!!! Help! Finally! She calls the bartenders name, says she needs that order and helps me cash out. 3rd and FINAL — Thurs, Jan 7th, 6:30ish. OMG Our waitress, unfortunately can’t remember her name. Lil older, late 30s/early 40s, dark hair, did NOT want to be there. Rude. I arrived, sat myself, asked someone for water. No waitress. My friend comes, he sits, waitress appears asks him what he’d like, still doesnt ask me. We order, she doesn’t offer suggestions, sides, appears annoyed. Runner brings food, no waitress. I get up to refill my water, she sees me, does nothing. Does not follow up. We have to flag down other servers for help. I’d say at least half of my family is in the industry as servers, bartenders, cooks, GMs. In restaurants like Baby A’s, Iguanas, Maudies, Trudy’s, Hill Country Pasta House, Manuels, Matt’s etc. We greatly appreciate and respect this industry. The Manager is a good guy. He has great ideas and ambition for this place. I dont know the waitresses name with the pink hair but I’ve heard good things about her too. Hope they get it together.

Food was good service was mediocre however they were really really busy. Suggest to try and go on a night they might not be so busy. We didn’t even get refills on our drinks and only saw our waitress when we sat down when we ordered and when we left. They also stuck my family in the party room with a party going on. Don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon maybe this summer after the hype wears off.

We’ve been waiting for a long time for Lucy’s to open, and today we finally got around to trying it. I can only say… I MISSIGUANA. I’ll give positive first… our waiter was attentive, and I like the remodel of the place. They seemed to have ironed out some of the kinks from earlier reviewers. We had high hopes. The group of millenial staff at the front was not overly friendly… they greeted us and took us to a table, but upon leaving they were really involved in their conversation and didn’t say ‘thank you’ or ‘come back soon.” We expected a «home-style comfort food atmosphere» with super friendly staff. We were also a little concerned about sitting on the rickety picnic tables inside, and the table was just too skinny. I felt like I was going to fall off the seat… it was pretty shaky! But the food… my first impression came from looking up the menu online, and I was surprised(freaked out) about the amount of fried funkiness on the menu. Fried bull testicles(mountain oysters)?? Fried livers and gizzards? Oysters? Fried chicken skin aioli? Although the smell outside Lucy’s kitchen was yummy, I struggled to find something«normal» to eat, and settled for some mac & cheese that was just okay… for $ 8.50. My better half got the basket of fried chicken(no sides included). I wasn’t hungry enough for a chicken-fried steak($ 13.50), although that looked good when a waiter walked by with one… is there such thing as a «half» portion? I tried the fried chicken, but to be quite honest I didn’t think it was anything special. There are other local fast-food varieties that taste better to me. We live across 620 from this location, and were really hoping for a great new hangout with a view. Unfortunately, we’re just not impressed with the food selection and especially the prices. And we don’t mind paying extra for good quality food… but Lucy’s just didn’t meet our expectations. SUGGESTIONSFORIMPROVEMENT: More«normal» on the menu… perhaps some fried stuffed jalapenos, fried mixed veggie bites, chicken breast chicken nuggets, boneless wings with sauce, fried meatloaf bites… and a wider variety of pricing that includes sides. It was so expensive that we didn’t even bother to look at the dessert menu, although looking at it now it looks like there are some nice options. Also, we’ve avoided this location because the parking lot always looks packed. We now realize that they are probably employee cars at the front by the road.

We went early on a Sunday and had brunch. I see complaints here about the service, so I might need to take into account that we were seated just after 10AM on a Sunday and Lucy’s was not particularly crowded that early — but our service was very good. Seating and waitstaff were friendly and efficient. We did not try any cocktails, so can’t speak to that, but the coffee was quite good and served with real cream — not the unrefrigerated god-knows-what — thank you! The teenagers weren’t overly thrilled with the soft drinks, but Lucy’s serves Maine Root sodas — not always the expected flavor the general population is looking for — seems you either like Maine Root or you don’t. We stuck with the brunch menu — but they serve full menu during brunch — so there were lots of choices available. We tried cornbread muffins with tequila butter — a little drier and more on the savory side than sweeter honey-butter type corn muffins — but we still liked them. Would have preferred the tequila butter a tad softer to spread more easily on the muffins — but overall enjoyed these as a starter. We also tried the Burnet Road Omelette, Chicken ‘N Waffles, and Hangover Fries. The goat cheese on the omelette was very creamy and the red onion was fresh and not overpowering or bitter. I could not tell if the spinach was fresh. I’d guess frozen by the looks of it, but it tasted OK. I it was fresh, somebody got carried away sauteing it. The omelette itself was firm and cooked well. Even with the goat cheese and red onion, I found the omelette to be a bit bland — but with a bit of salt & pepper and a few generous dashes of Pickapeppa Gingery Mango Sauce — it was good to go. Use the hearty slice of wheat toast that comes with this dish to sop up the extra goat cheese Pickapeppa sauce… yum! Lucy’s Hangover Fries… Texas red chili, cheddar, cotija, jalapenos, two sunny side up eggs. Huge portion and just as described. What’s not to like? Chicken ‘N Waffles… Two big old fried chicken breasts. No one in our group had any complaints about the chicken. It was moist, not overly greasy and fried to a medium golden brown. Having fun with the sauces at the table, we drizzled a little Cholula Hot Sauce on our chicken and ramped up the flavor. We liked the contrast of a bit of smokey hot sauce with the syrup and cinnamon butter on the waffles. Atmosphere was fun, imaginative and relaxed. Tables are not placed right up on top of each other. I’m a social person, but I don’t want to share elbows and conversation with complete strangers while out for brunch. Being flavorphile-types, we really appreciated the six different bottled hot sauces available at the table. Some folks just love to tweak their food. :D We interacted with three different servers and they were friendly, upbeat, helpful and prompt. For our Sunday brunch visit, we enjoyed Lucy’s on the Lake and would go back again.

The remodeling job was done very well and it was nice to see the lake has risen, so the actual space is the star of the show. The chicken? Not so much. Sorry, but my family recipe is outstanding and requires an overnight honey buttermilk brine. So I’ve been spoiled by my grandmother and therefore have VERY high expectations. Frying chicken is pretty hard y’all, as one needs to make sure it’s seasoned perfectly and fried so that the skin is crispy, golden and dry. Not soggy nor greasy. We ordered a basket of chicken that was delivered overly browned, greasy and under-seasoned. One would think that if they base the entire concept of their restaurant on fried chicken that it better be the best damn chicken on earth. And sadly, it’s not. My grandmother’s recipe kicks this one’s squarely in the derrière. Old school 1970s KFC is better, and that’s why it gets two stars. Even our waiter admitted his family recipe is better because he brines his as well. On the upside, the craft cocktails are really well done and so was the mac n cheese. The fries were a mix of undercooked sogginess and overcooked burned spuds. Again, one would think a place that fries its food would actually know how to properly fry food! We will be back as the location, service and ambiance are great, but we were really let down by the food.

Lucys mac-n-cheese would be a more fitting name for this place y’all. Great drinks and friendly service but I’ll go to Chik-fil-a, Popeyes, and KFC for proper fried chicken. Texan born and raised on bisquits and gravy with fried chicken, this aint it. Instead of crispy dry fried chicken we got wet and greasy??? I look at the table next to me and they got the dry crispy chicken, I guess it’s like flipping a coin whether you get the good or bad version of chicken here. So I figure this suckers gonna taste great! No flavor, like Where’s the salt? Only could handle two bites of the flavorless chicken whilst still contemplating the name? But the mac-n-cheese is great… I’m calling this place Lucys Mac– n-Cheese from now on.

Really, really nice food. It’s an extremely casual place. It’s not what everyone might look for in a restaurant in that it’s not grand and it’s a little bit barnyard. But the truth is the food is awesome and the value offering is simply amazing. They’ve renovated this place very nicely. It’s going to be an awesome place to go for beer with a lake view in the summer. They’ve completely overhauled the outside bar that was here when this was the Iguana. There’s a really nice stage for live music. Good kids play place. Lovely hosting folk. We were seated and served fast, countering some of the feedback I heard about the first week of opening which likely underlines they’re getting into the swing of things now. We sampled as much as possible. The fries are delicious. The Onion Rings are the most perfectly prepared and cooked onion rings you can get — properly battered, very crisp and just all round delightful. Wings — nice… not my personal preference, but nice. We added a ‘Bikini Bites’ to our round of appetizers, a plate of vegetables and dip. The veg was well chosen, appropriately chilled and served on ice made for a great presentation. Cost of these four examples was between $ 5 and $ 9.50. For our entrees, we had a child with a chicken leg and adults eating a Chili bowl, Mac N Cheese and Tenders. These were well prepared and tasty, all between $ 8.50 and $ 10.50. Yep, it may for the most part be served in baskets with paper in them, but the food is extremely well prepared and the value offering is amazing. 4 apps, 4 entrees, beers and a cocktail, 3 adults and one child…$ 85!!! I have to say this but next time, we’ll be digging into more of the chicken. The seasoning on those tenders is just too good to pass up on in future. Clearly therefore I need to sample the signature of fried chicken. Yes, need. They’ve done a good job bringing something that checks all the boxes, quality, value for money, portion size and so on into an area where there are a lot of sub-par restaurants and a lot of operators taking advantage of the locals and delivering well short of any acceptable standard. I can’t believe this casual, even trashy style of ‘bar food’ is outperforming these ‘bistros’ and ‘gastropubs’. This is easily the best newcomer in this area. So. We will be back.

There’s a new chicken place that opened up in Lakeway. We ordered the bucket of chicken, fries and 2 teas. When I visit my brother I always see the sign coming soon, so I said to myself, I can’t wait to try their food. Fried chicken is one of my favorite food. So we got our bucket, fries and drink. I grabbed a drumstick. I pulled the skin off to save for later… once I tore a piece of the meat off… I noticed saw raw meat. I flagged down our waitress(Kat) to let her know about the meat. She took the leg and brought it to the kitchen. I can see the cooks looking at me… our table was in front of the kitchen door. A guy brought me a new leg and said the meat is cooked and that there are no raw meat. The temperature of leg was at 170. I believe you have to check all the pieces not just one out of the bunch. I grabbed a thigh and sure enough the same outcome. I took a total of 3 pictures of the chicken. Overall the taste of the chicken is very good. The fries were excellent. Tea like any ice tea out there. The guy said he will be back to check on us but, never came back. He said our chicken is cooked at 170. I know this place is new and will have some issues. Service is slow. Nice hostess in the front. Place has a awesome view of the lake. Nice area for kids to play.

The Austin Oysters were tiny, it seemed like they chopped them in half, possibly quartered them or they went out and bought the smallest oysters on the planet. I won’t be buying them again. The fries are also cut into tiny pieces. why? Just give me a normal french fry. I think we paid 9 dollars for 6 smoked chicken wings, but I really couldn’t taste the smoke. I would pass on those too. The fried oysters and green tomato dish was good. I would order them again and the watermelon margarita. This place has so much potential, it is sad they are passing off parts of oysters as whole oysters.
