Meridian Hive Meadery is pretty cool! I hadn’t tried mead until this year when I tried some of Meridian Hive’s stuff at the Mueller Farmer’s Market. We bought a growler from them and we were always determined to fill it back up, but we always seemed to go to the farmer’s market when they weren’t there. Darn. No more worrying about that, though, because now they have a building for all your mead needs! I always seem to gravitate toward the Rhapsody, because it has blackberries in it, and I love anything and everything blackberry. Meridian Hive will let you try anything for free, which is great. Some day, I’m going to branch out and try all of their stuff instead of just getting the Rhapsody. They also have several different kinds of honey for you to sample, which was really cool. You can purchase various things here, like growlers, glasses, and metal signs, if you’re into those sorts of things. They sell their mead by the growler or by the bottle, depending on what you order and have much you want. There isn’t a ton of seating, as they seem to be a newer operation, but I didn’t find that to be a problem. They also have some board games out for anyone to play, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, they don’t have any food here yet. I don’t know if they allow you to bring food in, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask if that’s something you are dying to know. The ladies who were working the day I visited were very sweet and super willing to answer any and all questions. Funny story: this place is basically right down the street from my old office. I bet a mead buzz would have made work more enjoyable, but now I never have to find out. No complaints here!

I was introduced to Honey Mead several weeks ago at the Mueller Farmer’s Market. And I have been hooked ever since! Several friends and I had the opportunity to visit the the meadery on Saturday and boy did we have a good time. It was great to just relax and sample several awesome meads. Evan was extremely knowledge, patient and kind. I can’t remember the name of the blond lady who was working there as well, but she was a sweetheart as well. I recommend that anyone wanting to try something different but delicious, check out the Meridian Hive Meadery!

I fell in love with mead when I lived in Europe. I have always loved honey, and drinking it is even better. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Meridian Hive Meadery’s stand at the Domain Sunday Market. They are the only Meadery currently in Austin. I had never heard of session style carbonated mead, and sampled some and fell in love. I instantly bought a growler full of Rhapsody(blackberry and orange blossom honey session). I guess they are one of only three other meaderies in the US that have carbonated session style mead. Their still artisanal style mead was also amazing, ranging from dry to sweet. Once my growler was empty, I of course needed to fill it up. The closest and easiest option was visiting their tasting room. The tasting room would be easy to miss amongst all the warehouses on Exchange Dr if it weren’t for their large sign outside. Once you walk in you will need to walk down the hallway and around the corner to the tasting room. Just follow your nose, it will guide you to the center of the beehive. The tasting room is located right were all the magic happens to create the golden juice. The tasting of their carbonated and still mead was free. The staff were incredibly friendly and informative. This time I choose to fill my growler up with Aurora, which had a delightful cider like taste to it. They have some tables and chairs, so we bought a glass and hung out. Some of our friends joined us, and we ended up hanging out here for awhile. They even have a few games on hand to play. I came expecting to only fill my growler, not make an afternoon of it. A highlight of the tasting room is the honey tasting table, you can sample a variety of different honeys from all around the US. Now, I just need to find out if they would allow outside food, as that would be perfection. You can also find them at the Mueller Farmers market.

What a great place to go and enjoy some great wine made of honey instead of sugar. Really good and definitely recommend going if your looking for a new taste to add to your wine collection. Plus the bottles are super cute :)

Warning: Apple Maps puts this on the wrong side of the road. It’s on the South side, East most unit. Once we finally found the place, we were greeted quite quickly and taken back for sampling. Immediately we were treated to generous samples of *everything.* Samples just kept coming until we had tasted the entire lineup. Evan ran us through everything with great explanations and loads of information. As any good teacher, he snuck in repeats of information in different ways to help cement it. He took us on the grand tour. It doesn’t look like much since it’s small, but there’s a lot of information and a lot to learn. Evan was great at tailoring his tour to our level of expertise: two of us with Mead and home brewing experience and two n00bs. Apparently they distribute from San Antonio to DFW and they’ve only really been on the market for a year and a half! Their prices reflect their quickly growing popularity, but it’s well worth it. They have a Mead for everyone and even honey to sample. The staff was able to tell us about a lot of events as well. The Texas Mead Festival isn’t too far away from Austin and it’s in September. The world festival is in Longmont, Colorado. They also make appearances at local farmers markets as well.

Love this! Tired of the beer/wine/spirits of the central Texas area?(don’t get me wrong, we are blessed with incredible wineries and distilleries in the area!), however, Meridian is incredible! Sweet to dry, amazing flavor profiles, and great knowledgeable staff. You will find a mead that suits your taste and preference. Well done Meridian!

Loved the sweet meads. The grand opening was great and it was wonderful hanging pie with friends. Got to see people I have not seen in a long time. Reasonable prices and friendly service!

Cool place. You can bring your own bottles or growlers. Their pricing is based on liters. Not all of their mead is available on tap. Some is pre-bottled. It’s all good.

These guys know what they’re doing… if you haven’t tried their mead, you should. They have a hopped mead that is fantastic and refreshing. They’re experimenting with different honeys and adjuncts, and each one has been great so far. Their labels are cool too.
