This place is now closed and supposedly under re-modeling. Have been there several times and the place is mostly empty, they no longer took credit cards and their phone had been disconnected. As for the food — the Cuban Sandwich was pretty good and so was the«flan», however the rest of the food is greasy and unhealthy. If it re-opens under new ownership I may try it again.

I just went there for lunch today. I’m not Cuban and have not had Cuban food before. That being said, I really liked it. I like the atmosphere and the lady who waited on us was very nice. I had the ropa vieja and it was quite tasty. I also had a ham and cheese empanada which was quite good. I plan on going back.

Well first I shall say this. I am not Cuban, just an avid foodie-ologist. LOL The location is on that dreadful Research corridor so make sure you don’t miss your turn into the parking lot. I walked in, and was surprised the inside was decent. I order the lunch special which states«Soup, entrée, two sides, and dessert» for 7.45. I thought I could pick my sides, but did not understand it was only rice and salad. Either way I wasn’t peeved because I can get a better experience. I got my food to go. I got home and started opening my take out like a mad woman. I ate the chicken. Nothing too amazing, but was a good size for the combo. The salad was tasty because of the dressing that was used. The rice was plain olé’ white rice. Nothing too exciting. The yucca was different from what I have tasted before. Kinda hard than what I was expecting. The plantains tasted just like the GOYA plantains you can get at HEB. Not all that good… fairly bland. I then proceeded to my cake which came with the combo. After peeling away from the hard edges, I discovered a moist and tasty cake. Overrall OK… nothing amazing.

Whoever is cooking the food it is NOT Cuban! I am 100% Cuban. Born and raised. I was thrilled to hear that there was a new Cuban café in town so I rushed there immideately. I cook Cuban food all the time so, I was hoping to find a place where I can eat my kibnd of food without having to cook it for myself. I ordered«Ropa Vieja» they did not have any left. I ordered Cuban sodas, they did not have any. I understand they might say, «we just opened a month ago» but, we all know well to have the real authentic items in shop by the time you are up and running. My daughter ordered the«Rabo Encendido» it was the best out of everything we ordered but, it was a bit bland and hard. I ended up ordering the special, «Fricase de Puerco» well, that convinced me it was not real Cuban food. The black beans that came with my dish were watered down and tasted strange to the point that I was affraid to eat them. The meat was not our typical pork chuncks but, the fat of the pork which we will use to make«Chicharron» I really did not want to be rude but, I was so dissapointed and upset that I had to pay for some crappy bland food. I NEVER leave left overs because I feel bad throwing food away specially after I paid for it but, my husband insisted on taking the left overs not to be rude. The ended up in the trash as soon as we got home. So, my bst advise about the food, NOTCUBAN! and NOT good at all. DONOTSPENDYOURMONEYTHERE.
