For all the SXSW people out there… I tried the Mo Betta BBQ trailer in the Texaco gas station lot today. Skip this place and hit up the Sugar Shack(or is it Hog Wild?) trailer right behind it is my suggestion. I should have skipped it after the pitmaster showed me his brisket slices but the lady at the front had helped me find a place to park and I am determined to sample all of Austin area BBQ so I sheepishly ordered a brisket sandwhich with no bread and a water which came out to $ 9.89. The meat came out crazy hot like it had been microwaved. It was all a grey brown and crumbled when I tried to eat it. It had an off putting flavor, no real bark or spices or smoke flavor came out. It was, sadly, one of the worst brisket slices I’ve ever been served in 80+ different BBQ restaurants or trailers. It should be a crime to serve brisket this bad and this close to Franklin. This place is just price gouging out of towners here for SXSW. Please don’t judge TXBBQ by stopping here. I literally took 2 small bites and walked up the street and handed the rest to a homeless person… I wouldn’t be surprised if he spit it out too…
