I’ve never had a bad experience here. There sandwiches are amazing. The soups and salads are fresh and made daily.

This is a great place for lunch. There’s a huge selection of different sandwiches, but unless you have an eclectic palate, you might be overwhelmed by all of the choices in sandwiches. With this being said, I ordered a basic turkey club, and it was good and came out quickly. The prices are a little high, but I don’t think they’re completely unreasonable. Pro tip: they put pickles in your basket. If you hate pickles and pickle juice as much as I do, be sure to let them know to 86 the pickle.

May I begin by saying what a fine establishment this is! The sandwiches are unmatched anywhere in Austin. The atmosphere is so relaxing and a true Austin establishment. Definitely one of my favorite places to grab a bite.

Live on the scene of NeWorlDeli! A funky little place in Austin. Nice private parking lot! A little on the pricey side for what you actually get but the quality makes your wallet hurt a little less. A wide variety of deli sandwiches and a modest selection of soups and sides. Soda Fiends; the only soft drinks provided are Maine Root drinks(handcrafted here in Austin!) I had never tried any before but I was pleasantly surprised by the Blueberry Soda(tastes like all the blue raspberry candy you had as a kid). Mexican Cane cola is most similar to Coke minus the bite of chemicals and artificial syrup. Overall a fun, delicious, place to go if you’re hungry and have some money in your pocket.

Best Reuben I have ever had in my entire life. No joke! Get it with pastrami and you won’t know what to do with yourself.

Huge grilled sandwiches! I alway get the tuna melt and it’s delicious. I’ve never had a Reuben, which seems to be their most popular. I want to try it but I’m afraid I won’t like it since it has sauerkraut and I’m not even sure I like to begin with. Their Jewish rye bread is good too. I didn’t think I was a huge fan of the flavor at first but it’s really not bad. Only sucky thing here is you can’t do their half a sandwich and soup with their grilled sandwiches. The two nights I came in to grab a sandwich for dinner there was some sort of music event going on. One time it looked like an open mic or something and another night I think some band was promoting a new CD? Not sure but it’s pretty cool being surprised with live music.

Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in Austin!!! Not only do they have a menu full of yummy items– sandwiches, soups, salads, but, Greg and his crew are wonderful! Prices are reasonable and they offer gluten free options as well. I highly recommend the Reuben. Bonus– they have a private parking lot!

I have to thank a certain city of Austin mayoral candidate for pointing me toward this place when we talked at a meet-and-greet last year. Apparently he hung out here a lot, for the reubens and for a chill place to work on his campaign. Though he didn’t win, his endorsement of NeWorlDeli has been responsible for a large number of my excellent meals, which have added this spot to my list of local favorites. There’s a lot to like here. The food I’ve ordered has been nothing but high-quality, made with some great seasonings and a lot of tender lovin’ care. I cycle between two of their subs. The eggplant parm is probably the best in the city. It comes closest to the *real* style of eggplant parm that classic Italian restaurants serve up north — thinly sliced, breaded, and salted, with marinara and cheese layered in between. The kind you could cut through with a fork in one swipe.(Most proprietors in Austin seem to think that thick, barely cooked eggplant slices with melted cheese on top are just as authentic. This is laughable.) This is the only place around that gets the style down right, more or less — and while it’s not a perfect reminder of home, it stills tastes amazing. They always melt on a healthy helping of cheese too. I also go crazy for their meatball sub, which is definitely the best in town. These homemade meatballs are huge and they don’t skimp on putting a bunch in the sandwich; it’s usually 5 or 6 which is more than enough. The meat is always fresh, juicy, and melts on your tongue. It has a unique, inviting flavor that comes from the pepper they use in the meatball mix. The sandwich is drenched in their wholesome marinara sauce — the aroma of pure tomato doubles its appeal when it’s served to you. The sprinkled parmesan cheese on top adds some salty balance. So yeah, the food is pretty much excellent. I may branch out and try other menu items(sloppy joes, anyone?) or I may just stick to these time-honored staples. I have tried their reuben, and while it’s the real deal — absolutely LOADED with pastrami and sauerkraut — it was way too salty for me. It didn’t change my opinion of the place though. Also, I love the atmosphere here. It’s a cozy little neighborhood hangout in this quaint old building, on a stretch of Guadalupe that doesn’t have any other great sit-down food options. They have live music just about every night, usually some cheerful folk singers or a Beatles cover group or the like. It builds upon the whole relaxed vibe here, and gives you the sense that you’re enjoying your meal amongst a pleasant community of people. I’ve always liked the friendly staff here, especially Greg, who stirs up a good conversation and makes you feel right at home in his place. It’s clear that he stands by his food and his business, and as far as I’m concerned, he’s going about it the right way.

$ 11.50 = grilled cheese sandwich+cup of soup. Cons: Cheese wasn’t melted. Decided to change soup type and was met with exasperation. But they changed it. Price point. No Combos everything is seperate. Pros: chill atmosphere. Lots of room to spred out. Ill be back and update review accordingly.

This place is really awesome and the staff is very nice. Both the avocado veggie and veggie hummus sandwiches are vegan– that’s one thing I couldn’t find either on here or on their website, so if you were wondering if they have options, they do! I ordered the avocado veggie and it was so, so delicious. Their fries are also amazing. The wait was not long at all even during lunch hours, and the prices are very fair.

Fast, friendly, and fairly priced! There are only a few Vegan choices, but the vegan options they DO have are delicious! My avocado veggie sandwich was fresh and incredibly filling. I haven’t been here yet for their open mic nights, but I’ll definitely give it a shot soon! They are fully equipped with a coffee bar and wide beer selection(even lots of local beers!). SUPPORTLOCALBUSINESSES!

I may have found the best turkey pastrami Reuben! I’m always on the search. Big enough for 2 peeps & they load on the meat, sauerkraut, & thousand!

I’ve never stopped at this establishment once. I haven’t had the pleasure in any shape, form or fashion of having their food at this location on Guadalupe. However I just called to ask a simple question which would have helped me choose a dinner spot. You see my Wife is a big soup fan… it varies depending on the season/flavor. On the website it states their main staples and says check the chalk board for«other flavors. I can’t do that over the phone and called at 5:59 p.m. simply to ask what flavors they had today. In this day and age I notice most people answer the phone in establishments and give no name only a generic this is {insert name here}. You may/may not get how may I help you. I politely said good evening ma’am what soups do you have on the menu this evening. She communicated the choices and I replied thank you Ma’am and I hear on the other the sound of a phone being hung up before I could finish my sentence. Listen customer/potential customers should be able to ask you a question. I mean God I don’t believe I inconvenienced her by asking a quick question. I’m on Unilocal researching soups and this place came up… forgive me for ever trying to solidify making your establishment a dining choice. To you whomever you are that answered the phone keep up the good work with your terrific phone etiquette. Next time my office decides we’re having a luncheon I’ll be sure to tell everyone if we want soup/sandwiches etc. catered to not even bother looking at this place.

Recently having moved to Austin, the first thing I do is research places near where I am living that have high rankings for their food. A reuben place walking distance from my place? Yes, Please! First the good. The restaurant is as previously stated, a well set up and a relaxing place. Cashier and server were polite and professional. Their reuben was bigger than I thought it would be. Then the bad. This reuben easily had 2 times the sauerkraut and ½ the pastrami of anywhere else i’ve had it. While eating I couldn’t get over the faint taste of something like … a hot dog. Not saying there is, but had a tinge of that hot dog nitrate taste. Not strong or overpowering but definitely there. Finishing the first half I immediately had to scoop off the overly excessive sauerkraut from the second half. May have been an off day, debating if I should go back and try something else.

Love this place. Awesome vibes. I never go here without ordering a bowl of the broccoli cheese soup, it’s that good. They have open mic night on Thursday and that’s pretty entertaining, even if you’re just observing. The green haired cashier is my fave! Super nice, super chill. Great service.

I’ve never been here for lunch(I hear it gets busy) but I like going here for an early-ish dinner. Order at the counter, food is brought to your table in a timely manner. And it’s not that busy around this time – there are ample choices when it comes to seating. It’s a bonus if they have live music. The music I’ve heard is acoustic, folksy, light-rock, fun. And yay for grilled cheese sandwiches.

Super healthy hippie food, has that keep Austin kinda weird with a California wang to it. Has that old Austin feel like the Omelletry did. Remember that place? The place they fkin’ tore down where ive been eating for 40 fkin years??? My dad took me there as a child for breakfast on Saturdays so he could drink coffee and talk to the hippie girls behind the counter. Memories. FCK!!! They tore it down!!! But i digress. Anyhow if you want a hippiefied healthy alternative give this place a shot. Will report back if i have the ultimate shits later from the curry chicken salad.

I should really be ashamed of myself for taking so long to try this place. It took me about 7 years of driving by this place all the time to finally go in and try this place. Friendly people running a cool spot on the drag. Lots of options for the meat eaters, and then a few for the herbivores. Lets just say, they do not skimp of taste and quality just because someone doesn’t eat meat. Great lunch spot, not too crowded, enough room for everyone. Also they don’t skimp on size of the sandwiches they produce. The vegetarian rueben is one of the best sandwiches you’ll eat. The rye bread is crisped up to perfection, with sauerkraut, avocado, cheese, and loads of Russian dressing. Get the vegetarian rueben. Get the New York style cheesecake(best one in town IMO). Get the bevy of Maine Root sodas. Thank me later. All this for a pretty good price too.

NeWorlDeli has some seriously delicious sandwiches and probably one of the best tomato soups I’ve had in Austin. After driving past the café for several years without visiting, I finally decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. As a huge fan of sandwiches, I’m always happy to find a new deli in my stomping grounds. Since it was my first visit, I opted for the«Award Winning» Reuben. They should probably add«gratuitously large» into that name somehow because holy carp is that a lot of food. There was easily an inch-and-a-half of meat(so good) with another half-inch of sauerkraut(excellent). The only thing I would change is the bread which got a little soggy from all the juices. I’m pretty sure if anything else were added to this sandwich it would collapse inwards upon itself and form a black hole.

I like New World Deli well enough, but it’s more of a place that I go because it’s near me in Hyde Park and on the way to other places than because it’s indispensable. Pluses: nice variety of hot and cold sandwiches, usually big, reasonably priced(but increasing of late). If you stick with the traditional deli fare(reuben, etc.), you’re solidly in four-star territory. The vintage board games are a nice quirk, the soda fountain selection avoids the usual Pepsicoke products, and the staff seem pretty nice. Other things I like less. The soups are so-so(the tomato bisque is pretty ho-hum). The sandwich breads and burger buns are often bagged and pre-sliced affairs, a big downer for me. The salmon burger’s curiously regular shape seems to indicate pre-made or boxed origins. To sum, wandering away from the more conventional deli offerings seems like an exercise in diminishing returns. I’ll be back, as I’m invariably hungry and in the mood for a nearby sandwich, and you should probably check it out to see if NWD is your style, but a little more thought and love could take the menu to a higher level.
