I went to payless for my every day flats and I was greeted by the nicest lady ever. I have never been to payless and encountered such service. From start to finish, she was trying to help me and found all my preferred options in the back stock of the store versus the showroom floor. That representative made all the difference!

Ballet shoes for my daughter were affordable but the service wasn’t that great plus there was a real strong chemical-​plastic smell that kinda scared me.

Here’s a tip: shop the payless website, then have the shoes shipped to the store for free.
Then, try the shoes on in the store. If any of them don’t work, you can return them right there on the spot. Instant credit or refund to your card. It’s almost better than Zappos!
I know Payless isn’t the best quality. If it were, it wouldn’t be so cheap. Paying $ 25 for a pair of black suede platform booties that will last a year or so is a fantastic bargain. Ditto for Vans-​esque slip-​on sneakers I can wear all summer. Same deal with fierrrce Christian Siriano stilettos — though those hover closer to $ 50.
This southpark meadows location has a friendly staff who never seem put out to grab a box from the back. And they don’t always get to see all the shoes that are sold online in person — the selection is that vast.
Shop the payless site, get your shoes shipped to the store for free, and try them on! You will feel smart and thrifty.

Best place to buy yo’ shiny new kicks since Shoe Town.
No, seriously. I always thought of Payless as the WalMart of shoes. But I went into this store today anyway just to satisfy my curiosity. I had very low expectations of quality, style, and size availability.
I was met by a friendly sales associate who asked my size and width, but not style, and immediately led me to exactly the shoe I wanted. I kid you not. They fit perfectly, and I was totally sold.
The whole transaction took less than 10 minutes. I’ve spent an hour in some of their competitors and come up empty handed, either due to style or sizing issues.
While the shoes I bought were not on sale, they were reasonably priced and seem to be sturdily constructed. Time will tell on the last part, but I feel great about my purchase so far.
