The staff was helpful, but the place is HIGE and not entirely logical in the way it is organized. Now, now, I know that most libraries have the same old cataloging number system. Still, the shelves and the map to them very confusing. And microfilm! Yeesh. I hate it. And good luck trying to find anyone to help you with it. I did appreciate that I was able to check out some books and do research here, however, since I’m not actually a UT student. As student of other TX schools I was able to get a temporary card. You have to first get an inter-college library loan card from your own school and with that, you can go to the front desk of the this UT campus library.

i realize it’s a bit silly to review an institution that many people have no choice but to use – but i see red every time i enter this horrible excuse of a library. and i’m a library grad student. the layout is incomprehensible, photocopy services make no sense, there are not near enough electric outlets, the study booths are in poor shape, the catalog is death to navigate… need i go on? furthermore, a major university library that isn’t open 24 hours? inexcusable. it makes me miss my undergrad university’s library, and i don’t miss much about that place. none of this is to impugn the collection itself – just the structure of the library and its services. if it weren’t necessary, i would never set foot in pcl again.
