Came here for a bachelorette party, put in a request to bring her up with a tip and they didn’t play it until an hour and a half later. It wasn’t until we threatened the waitress that we wanted our money back then they played our song, but didn’t even bring the bachelorette up on stage! There were three bachelorette parties including us, we were the only ones treated differently. I wouldn’t suggest this bar unless you are blonde and a size 0.

Maybe it just takes a lot to entertain me but this place is standard. The cover charge was a bit much. The piano players were very talented but they took polite turns rather than dueled. I am used to a little more cockiness and seeing some battles. It was standing room only at this point and I truly got bored after 10 minutes. Granted, some songs are definitely for Texans because I had never heard them before. But most of the songs went on for far too long. I know it sounds like I am being picky but I have been to too many piano bars that do this so much better. Maybe it was an off night or maybe I expected too much after paying such a hefty cover charge. I will say one thing, they knew that Baby Got Back is the one that gets the people going. Then creepy dudes come out with their cell phones and take pictures of the white girls dancing in their tight bandage dresses onstage. So there’s that.

We had a blast here! We ordered the fish bowl which is suppose to be enough for 4 ppl – we were 2– haha! They allow you to go out and bring food back in. That was the best! Go across the street and get a pizza… it was delicious! If you check into Unilocal, your cover charge is only $ 3 — even on the wknds! Don’t forget to Give a tip to the pianists with your requests, the more the better! They appreciate it. They are all very talented. It gets loud in there, and there are usually a lot of bachelor and Bachelorette parties going on. So if you want to sit in the front(or get a seat for that matter) make sure you call or email them for reservations. They do require you to check in and get there by 7pm for your reservations!

Pete’s is what it is, and this location is better than the Addison version. There’s no such thing as a bad piano sing-along bar and Pete’s gets there for the cash. You’ll pay a cover, and the alcohol won’t be cheap. Still … Pay your dues and close the place down. The musicians here are outstanding. It’s fun and memorable. Even if you’re a regular. You’re welcome.

Great for some cheap and classy fun if your looking for something to do on 6th street. I came here for a bachelorette party and we definitely had a good time. A lot of brides reserved a table for their party, but we came early and just got one of the other tables. The pianists were great and take requests. Most of what we requested was played. Their rendition of «Hit Me Baby One More Time» was playful and fun. They make up funny songs for some of the bachelorettes. People are friendly here and some guys bought my friend drinks for being a bachelorette. You can definitely stand up and dance here, my friends and I sure did. The jello shots here are tasty and so are the large sharable 52 oz mixed drinks. We ordered the«porn star» drink and I though it was really good and I usually don’t like the taste of alcohol. I like girly tasting fruity drinks and this fits the bill. The only negative thing I have to say about Pete’s is they didn’t have the«porn star» in a smaller size, so when I came with my fiancé, I had to opt for a different drink and it wasn’t as good. Overall, I highly recommend Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar if you are looking for some cheap fun on 6th street. It’s a little rowdy here, but not trashy. You’ll definitely get your funs worth here.

I actually came here twice at the end of long days during SXSW because my friend and I wanted to hear some familiar music at the end of the day of listening to underground music. Here you can find talented musicians covering a wide variety of your favorite songs all from different eras. It’s really amazing how well they do covers too. From Queen’s «Bohemian Rhapsody» to R. Kelly’s «Ignition,» you never know what song they’ll play next. Of course they go by requests, but there are so many it doesn’t even matter if you don’t hear the song you requested because you’ll have a great time drunkenly singing the songs you do know with the rest of the crowd.

Went here last night. Got there very early to get a good seat. Most tables were reserved for multiple bachelorette parties. Found one not marked and sat down with two beers. 20 minutes later(when they were ready to start playing) a worker came to the table and told me I had to leave because the table was supposed to be marked reserved. Very rude with no apology or offer to find me another spot. I walked out and then decided to come back in and sit upstairs. Watched the table sit empty for a couple hours and finally staff decided to go remove the signs and eventually it was occupied. The piano players were good so I would rate them a four but the experience of being told to leave really left a bad taste in my mouth. I did snap a picture of the guy if anyone from Petes cares. UPDATE: Jackie from Pete’s contacted me and apologized for this unfortunate situation. She also said that the Owners will be advised of this and she offered to make things right next time I am in Austin. These things happen and taking action on the issues raises my rating to a 4

One word: EPIC. A fantastic, wonderful, goofy, fun night! These performers know how to entertain a crowd! The piano players not only play the piano, they sing, dance, provide stand up comedy, play the drums and bass. All of the music played is per request. The music selection is varied. I heard the most unusual and wonderful version of Snoop Dog’s «Gin and Juice», that I don’t think I will ever, ever hear another played quite like it again. I also heard a burly bearded man play«Call Me Maybe» by Carly Rae Jepson, which was also entertaining beyond belief. They also played wonderful classics such as, «Piano Man» and«Jessie’s Girl». There is no food served here, but you can have drinks o’ plenty. If you like sweet and fun girly drinks this place will be your jam. Try a «Blow Pop» martini or «White gummy bear shot». Singing loud and crowd participation is highly encouraged. Hours flew by. I spent four hours here that spent like one.

It’s pretty silly, but it’s also just good fun. The performers at Pete’s are all pretty talented and at $ 3 cover it’s easily worth the price of admission, though the price of beer is a bit high. Overall, I think Texans are good at not taking themselves too seriously and that’s what makes a place like Pete’s click.

Dang, I wish I checked in on Unilocal(for the $ 3 cover deal) before paying for the cover, but I think paying $ 12 to get in on a Saturday night was well worth it. We were going to go here on Friday as well and he said that there would be $ 7 cover. The players are VERY talented and entertaining!!! Who can deny a fun sing-a-long night filled with alcohol. Also, mad props for being able to play The Devil Went Down To Georgia with a $ 60 tip!!! This place was a LOT of fun. You’re encouraged to be loud and obnoxious, haha. It’s definitely a place to take visitors if they want to have a great time on the Dirty 6th.

Paying a $ 12 cover to see dueling pianos, I expected to be impressed. It was fun but underwhelming. Good thing Lone Star beer is cheap. Selection of songs weren’t bad. We got a mix of today’s hits and some classic rock oldies, some country songs. There was a nice mix. Uptown funk on piano is always a plus. They even had a dude on bass to help with some tasty licks. Honestly, there needed to be a more competitive tone. One pianist would play a song. He would end. Then the next would just start up a song. And would do the entire one. Not much dueling. Just two pianist taking turns playing songs. Other piano bars play up the competition. They wouldn’t let the other pianist get too far into their songs before starting their own. This became a competition to win the affection of the crowd. This bar was just a joint venture of working together. Should be renamed«Pete’s Cooperative Piano Bar.»

I have never been to a dueling piano bar before. I lived in a small Military town in NC for 5 years and all we had was strip clubs, hole in the wall bars and wannabe dance clubs. I came out here for a Mom’s night out! We had an absolute blast! Enjoyed the songs that pianists played and it was a great atmosphere! Bathrooms were clean(huge plus), Photobooth was phone and the bartenders were great! We will definitely return here for our monthly moms night out! :)

My husband, our friends and I visited this piano bar during the Formula 1 races in October of 2015(aka=the rained out races) and we had a blast! The musicians were funny and hyped up the crowd. There was a very eclectic group of people there during our visit. The crowd was awesome. Everyone was friendly and there to have fun. The waitresses there were very efficient in the way they handled everyone’s orders. I’m writing this waaaay past our visit so I don’t remember the name of our waitress. I wish I did so I could give her the props she deserves. The drinks were good and the little«shots» are dangerous!(Because they’re so good!)

A lot of fun! Got there at 7:45 pm on a Tuesday and could sit anywhere. However quite crowded by 11:30 pm. The musicians were amazing. The only drawback was that they could get a little too«tip hungry». They would get people to out tip each other to either play or stop playing a song. It bordered on too greedy for me. Other than that it was a really great time and I would definitely recommend it.

This place is an exception on 6th street. Amidst a lot of bars playing loud music and filled with shohting people, this place has pianists who can play just about anything, from Elton John to Willie Nelson. They have a large cocktail which can be shared by 5 people. We had the«pornstar», which was excellent. The pianists played a couple of our requests and we had a wonderful time there.

I detest Sixth Street. It is gross and is mostly void of any class… BUT we were there to visit Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. What a blast! Not one dull moment, even during the occasional slow song, which is the perfect opportunity for a potty break or for the performers to make a joke out of the song. We visited on a Friday evening. At first, the crowd is thin but as the evening progresses, the crowd becomes standing room only. All the performers are fun, hitting the notes perfect to every single song, and they are all very entertaining. But then there is this one young, handsome entertainer who blows the others away! He was on the high notes, low notes, mid notes, the piano, the guitar, the drums, the violin… you name it, this man could do it and not average but WOW! He was amazing and yes, I had a blast. Unfortunately, I do not have his name but I will try to find out. There is a cover, but if he is one of the entertainers, the average cover charge is worth it to hang out for the evening and watch him work his magic.

I mean where do I start… Pete’s gave me one of the best nights of my life! I had never been to a dueling piano bar before and I’m not sure how any other one could top Pete’s. The musicians are HILARIOUS and are so engaging. If you want your favorite song to be played, be ready to shell out some cold hard CASH. Man Texans love to spend their cash! Waitresses and bartenders keep your drinks fresh. Be sure to try a syringe shot :) Many bachelorette and bachelor parties come here which makes for some interesting interactions! This is probably the only place you need to go on dirty 6th street. Last thing I’ll say is… Pete’s is a hoot and a half!

I have always been a fan of dueling piano bars. Before traveling down 6th street, I had no idea Austin even had one! So of course the second I saw it I had to go inside and check it out and literally had to DRAG my boyfriend in there with me. On Wednesday nights, the cover charge is only $ 3. I heard on the weekends it is usually $ 10 – however, if you use your check in offer Unilocal has you can get in even on the weekends still with a $ 3 cover charge. The inside is pretty spacious, tons of tables and bar seating – they even have places to sit upstairs. I would suggest getting there early because all of the good seats were taken by at least 8:30pm. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to snag two available bar seats which gave us a pretty good view of the show. Bartenders were quick to serve. I believe two Austin beers were about $ 11. The stage the performers and two pianos were on was pretty big. The performers were pretty good as well — funny and had good voices. If you have never been to a dueling piano bar, this is how it works… The performers on stage sing cover songs the audience writes down on paper. However, in order for them to play the song you like, you need to give money. The more money you give the more likely they will play your song right away. Also, you can give the performers money to stop a song if you would like – in general, your constantly outbidding other audience members. The later the night gets, the more jokes the performers make. I would also suggest going there with a couple of drinks in your system as well because that just makes the whole place that much more fun. As I mentioned before, my boyfriend was not too excited about going into the establishment to begin with. A half hour into it, he was laughing and clapping with the rest of the audience. So, if he can have a good time here, I am sure anyone can have a good time here. We didn’t stay too long because I wanted to check out the rest of 6th street, but the next time I am in town, I will absolutely come back and spend a full night here. Also a good place for birthday parties, bachelorette parties or any group outing really.

Typical touristy piano bar. It is filled with about four bachelorette parties on any given weekend night. I can’t believe they charge as much cover as they do, when dirty 6th has a ton of talented musicians playing free shows without cover. I only went because of the Unilocal check in deal and my friend making me go. The pianists were good. Just not worth the cover.

Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar is a pure entertainment for the live music lover. You’ll find yourself singing, dancing, clapping, laughing and smiling. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy. The cover on Saturday is $ 10 and totally worth it. There are several locations but I’ve only been to the one in Austin. It looks like a converted barn or saloon on the inside. There’s a second story but it’s usually crowded. On the main level they have wooden bleachers which are very hard. If you have hemorrhoids or have back problems this is not a place for you to sit. It’s probably better to stand or to sit at the tables by the stage. If you haven’t been to Pete’s the performers sit at two baby grand piano’s and sing it up until close. Patrons can make a song requests with some cash. The higher the cash amount the more likely your song will be played. Some songs do suck but I’m not about to fork over $ 20 plus to hear my favorite songs so I suffer through NSYNC or Spice Girls. I had myself several drinks a cosmo and a martini that cost over $ 10 each. I noticed everyone else drinking beer. It’s probably cheaper. I figure if I’m coming here the price shouldn’t be what I worry about. It should be about having fun. There’s plenty of fun, drinks and dancing to be had at Pete’s.

I have been here a couple times on Thursday nights and Pete’s never disappoints. Get there early to get a table seat up front, but the place does not really get rocking until after 9pm at least. The musicians are great and stay fresh. The entertainment is not littered by foul language and hurtful songs as much as some other piano bars and the energy is great. I know the musicians need to make their money and obviously some people enjoy it or no one would pay and they would stop doing it, but they spent what felt like 20 minutes having an «argument» over the best college and people would pay money to have the musicians say their college was the best. Annoying and not entertaining.

this place is way too much fun. I was at a convention in Austin last month with Rodan and Fields skin care and we went out on 6th street one night and found this place. What a blast!!! The two guys playing and singing were really really good and played a wide variety of types of music — even got a bunch of folks dancing up on the stage. Lots of great sing-a-longs and just plain fun! Waiters and waitresses were friendly and attentive and the drinks were good old fashion bar strong. A great fun nite out if you are in the area!

This place reminds me of Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans. Of course Pete’s has its own Texan uniqueness, the people, the choice of music played… And every time I come here I have a blast! I always bring friends visiting from out of town and they live it. I enjoy finding people of all ages, everybody bonding and singing :) Drinks are good and staff is nice. Didn’t give the 5 stars because of a bartender giving me attitude(it was almost 2 am and I guess he was ready to hit the sack) But I’ll be back, this is a few of the places on E 6th that you can enjoy without all that craziness!

So cool and so unique! Love this place and need to bring it to sf or something. Came here before dinner around 9:30 and it was already packed. There were a few bachelorette parties going on taking all the seats so they probably reserved them. It’s $ 12 a person to get in and not knowing what this place was like, I thought damn. After tho, so worth it! I was here for an hour before going to dinner and they stamp you for re entry. There are bleachers in the back where you can see everything. It’s a fun concept to sing those glee songs but it really depends on the players who make it awesome. I forget their names but they reminded me of Collin and Ryan from Whose Line is it Anyway. You can request songs and I’m not sure if it’s by tip or you pay. They sell legit Jell-O shots– jello in an actual shot haha. Fun times for the night and you can wander 6th street after. This was probably my most favorite place in Austin.

I had an awesome experience here last weekend as part of a Bachelorette Party. In fact, there were a lot of Bachelorette Parties there that night — it is a fantastic place to have one! Although we were up in the bleachers and did not have a table,(as apparently they book up early!) it was still a total riot. The bleachers were actually fantastic, as we had a great unobstructed view of all the fun going on below. When I got there, I was the first of my party to arrive. The guys at the door were more than comprehensive on explaining to me the reservation and table situations,(everything was booked) and where to sit was available, how everything worked, and when the show started. It was really nice and helpful that they were so informative. The four guys who traded off playing the piano were energetic, fun, and hilarious — they really got the crowd going and did different things like calling people on stage, changing lyrics to songs in a variety of different ways — and were just awesome with knowing every song, and playing/singing them well. The only two things I would have liked to see change were 1) The college fight song thing went on way too long — the amount of money spent on who’s song would play was obscene,($ 200+!!!) and 2) Up in the bleachers, there weren’t any song request forms — we had to ask for them, it would be nice to have some up there somehow that are easily accessible for people. Our waitress up in the bleachers was Shelby and she too, was awesome. Nice, fun, learned our names and kept our tabs straight. She checked on us constantly and was easy to find when we all wanted to close out. The bar was cranking out fantastic drinks as well — their drinks weren’t watered down and tasteless but well blended and full of alcohol. This is a great, rowdy, crazy bar that is tons of fun. It was really nice to have an electric atmosphere at a bar — a bar with something to do and a big show going on that was easy to participate in. I’m giving ecstatic stars here for a fantastic place. I’ll be back at some point!

I’m a big fan of piano bars and have been to a great many of them in various parts of the country including my native New Orleans, and Pete’s tops my list. I’ve only been here twice on different short trips to Austin, but now it will be on my «must go» list anytime I’m in town. Pete’s earns high praise from me because of the musicians. They are NOT just piano players, they are all around entertainers. There are 2 pianos, but also guitars and drums on stage and although the musicians alternate time at the pianos, after short breaks, the 2 who recently left the stage, come back and join the fun on the other instruments. Their talents don’t end there, the 4 performers each have comedic skills and are very witty in their crowd interaction. You can tell that they all enjoy their jobs and they all appear to really enjoy performing together. That’s what makes it so dang fun to be there. Apparently there is sometimes a cover, but this past Wednesday night, there wasn’t one. Nor did we pay one 2 years ago. It might only be on weekends or during certain special events. One tip. Get there early if you want a seat. We walked in around 9 on a Wednesday night and there were about 30 people in there, but by 10, the first floor was full. It was standing room only, but they had not opened the upper balcony by the time we left at 11:30.
