Always nervous to try new Vietnamese restaurants but this place was bomb! Egg rolls were so crispy and delicious!

Cheap and tasty. However, they don’t use quality meats and the establishment is old and dirty. It’s got the traditional Asian family business atmosphere.

I am a major supporter of Vietnamese food and eat phở about 2 — 3 times a week. Service is very quick here but the meat is not the best in the phở. The meatballs are very fatty and not very flavorful.

Ordered to-go, so I won’t be able to review the experience as a sit down customer. However the to-go order(combination fried rice and a broken-rice platter) was hardly a wait and the food was excellent. Very authentic Vietnamese style cooking, however usually the fried egg is an egg-noodle cake.(The menu does say fried egg.)

Seriously the best Phở in the area! I love this place. The PHO was hot, fast, and delicious! This is my new go to for Phở. Bring cash if you aren’t going to spend more than $ 10!

Best Bun and egg rolls in Austin. Fast, huge portions, fresh and not at all expensive.

If you like large helpings of horrible food, this is your place. I order the pork vermicelli and my wife order the chicken. A couple of minutes later our orders arrived, bad sign. My pork was dry and cold. The egg roll was also cold but the shrimp was warm. As I said, my wife order the chicken and got«some sort of meat» that was also cold. The sauce was useless. These orders were badly in need of soy, but alas, none.

Phở sure one of the best please to get Phở in Austin. The hardest thing is trying to order some times due to the langue barrier but at least you know its good! Highly recommend this please!!!

I haven’t eaten here for a few months and was in the mood for some phở this past Monday, so I came back to Phở Hong for a 3rd time. Today the phở was awesome, just as I remembered it. The sprouts, basil, jalapeños & cilantro were all fresh and attractive. The rich beef flavor in the phở broth is what I’ve come to love about phở & this place doesn’t disappoint.

We’ve been going to Phở Hong for years. Consistently good phở, yummy bun, and tasty crushed rice dishes – with generous portions – keep us coming back. Friendly staff and quick, efficient service mean we can get in and out while keeping our kid fed and calm. The staff efficiently seat you as you arrive. Evenings are not busy here, so here’s a recommendation to check them out for dinner.

This is going to be one of those tough ones to review. There’s not much backstory here, I wanted to try a new phở place and this was pretty close to me with a decent reputation. I walked in, picked a seat, and ordered the #20 phở(Rare Eye-Round Steak, Fatty Brisket, and Soft Tendon). Phở should be fast and this place, although fairly empty, delivered. I only had to wait two minutes before I got my bowl. Not enough time to even get bored. The first thing I notice was that the broth is unusually dark. It rang some alarms that it might be overly salty, but it was actually pretty nice. The noodles were good too. It’s $ 6.90 for this small bowl of phở and although it’s cheaper than phở at other places, it does feel like there’s less stuff. The meat was fine, but for some reason didn’t have that quality taste I was expecting. The tendon was also a bit tougher; definitely didn’t have the gelatinous texture. Service was only okay. Didn’t get any smiles, it was all business. After the meal I kinda sat around for 5 – 10 minutes waiting for the check. You apparently need to go up to the register to pay. I wish there was a more obvious way to know that. Overall, the meal wasn’t bad at all, just not memorable in any good way. Real rating is around a 3.5 but I can’t give it a 4 cause the Phở competition is pretty stiff.

If you want to use this restaurant, you might want to go ver your receipts and compare them to your credit card statement. Waiter overcharged on credit card tip. The first time it happened, I thought the waiter made a mistake. Now I know it was on purpose since it happened again. Exactly the same amount of tips were overcharged.

Do you like Phở? Do you have a limited amount of time during lunch? Have you ever wandered around Austin and thought to yourself, what the Phở? If you answered yes to one of the above, then you’re in luck! This hidden gem packs a lot of flavor and definitely gets you in and out before your break is up. The phở here is in one word, delicious. In another, filling. You can not go wrong picking that here. My suggestion, if you want to have a mixture of meats is to get the«special» or «dac biet» phở. Is the day hot or if you’re not feeling in the mood to sip from the delicious broth? Get a rice dish or dry noodle dishes. They are authentic and taste just as good. In Austin, there are few places that serve Phở and serve it well. This is one of those few places that you will not regret having lunch at.

Another hole in the wall lunch spot that serves incredibility delicious food and rock bottom prices. The parking leaves a lot to be desired. Not a lot of spaces. Upon walking in, an older gentleman asked us how many and pointed to a table. He came back within a minute to hand us menus. Basically it has four long communal tables that you share with neighboring diners. We both decided on #45 vermicelli with grilled pork, shrimp and egg rolls. There seemed like a family of six running around handling the entire restaurant. We waited maybe 5 minutes and our food arrived. That small bowl of semi clear liquid is fish sauce. Yes, it stinks but it makes the food taste so much better. The bowl was big and full. The pork was flavorful and tender. The shrimp were a bit tough. Loved that the egg rolls is quartered and put in the bowl. The noodles were oh so good. I was full and still had over half the bowl full. The price for the meal and a drink was only $ 10.26. The leftovers were just as good.

Employee loudly speaking with credit card company in the seating area, tendon was poor quality, very small amount of basil and jalapeño served, waitress/hostess was not friendly, didn’t check on me more than once. Broth was pretty good. Serving size of phở ordered was large but they went easy on the meat. Next time I’ll go to my favorite spot, phở dahn!

A very solid Phở place. Only had the phở there, but the portion is generous and the broth is tasty. Clean and quick too makes this place convenient for a quick dinner.

This was the closest phở place to the Domain. No frills atmosphere and standard service for phở places. My boyfriend and I split the egg roll and we both got #20(Phở with tendon, fatty brisket, and steak). We ordered the egg roll because other reviews raved about them. They were indeed yummy, but a bit too salty. The phở on the other hand, was just ok. The phở broth was watery and not very fragrant and flavorful. The steak came out semi rare, but the warm broth quickly cooked it and left it at the right texture. I know I ordered fatty brisket, but it was 95% fat and 5% meat… Also, there were barely any tendon pieces. The noodles were fine though. I probably wouldn’t come back here again. Not when there are so many other phở options I have yet to try + Tan My is just a 5 minute drive down the street. .

Came across this place via Unilocal since we had a phở craving coming home from the Domain. The portions are really big but what good are big portions if the food is mediocre. We all opted for phở and I ate phở ga which is with chicken. The chicken was very dry and rubbery kind of like the frozen chicken breast you find at Costco. I think we probably struck out by ordering phở as we left generally unsatisfied. I wouldn’t recommend this place for phở. Try rice or dry noodles or something. Also we all felt weird after getting home from the food. Not sure if there is MSG or something of the like in it.

We had the vermicelli with charcoal grilled pork and egg roll and the phở bowl with the round steak and the chicken fried rice. The chicken fried rice was good but the other two dishes were exceptional. The grilled pork had a tasty marinated and grilled flavor and the bean sprouts noodles and veggies were fresh and wonderful. The phở was tasty with an excellent beef and bone broth that paired well with the round steak and noodles and veggies. The service was very good. Several regulars were eating lunch, which was obvious as they all ordered by number without seeing a menu… always a good sign. Would defiantly return.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and it’s pretty good Phở but the beef rice noodles(vermicelli) wasn’t all that great. I fee like they didn’t have enough lettuce/cucumber mixture in the bottom and the beef was chewy/grisly. Lacking in flavor as well, really had to douse it with Saracha sauce to make it enjoyable. I did like the Phở and will return for some more of it. The 3-stars is for a combination of really poor beef vermicelli, bland cafeteria style atmosphere and service but darn good Phở!

I have been eating here for years. This is consistently the best Vietnamese food I have found in Austin. I love the charcoal grilled pork with egg rolls. And that is what I always order. Today was no different. It’s kind of a dive. But I just love their food. It has been in the hands of the same owners for as long as I can remember. If what you are looking for is really good vermicelli noodle bowls, this is the place. It doesn’t get any better than this. Their Vietnamese coffee is also very very good. You have to come try this place.

I took my wife there for lunch for the very first time, the phở was delicious and the service was fast! I have been quite a few Vietnamese restaurants here in Texas, I feel like their phở does not as much MSG as other places. Good food. The people work there are very loud … which I don’t think I enjoy that much. In term of cleanness, I will give this place a B-; don’t feel very clean but I think it is average! I will probably go back there few more times and adjust my review accordingly. Always give a restaurant a second chance before come to conclusion!

The reviews were right. I found this via the Unilocal App, sorting by highest rated food in the area. The inside set up is almost comical, with a few rows of tables(cafeteria style) set up. It seems as though they’ve chosen efficiency over ambiance, but that’s A-Okay at lunch when there are so many people popping in and out. The owner is sweet as pie and serves very quickly. You pay at the counter when you’re done. The FOOD is DELICIOUS. An extensive menu, but can’t every go wrong with Chicken Fried Rice ;)

The food here isn’t bad.(Though it’s not as good as several other phở places I’ve been to in town.) However, after my last visit, I’m fairly certain I’ll be eating elsewhere. We were in a few days before Christmas. It was pretty quiet — I think there was only one other table seated. At any rate, we ordered our usual phở, and a side of charbroiled pork. Immediately after ordering, I heard an employee coughing, sneezing, and horking continuously for the rest of our meal. The fact that this employee was touching our food was making me queasy.(He was prepping it, at least.) I pretty much lost my appetite after that. If the guy was that sick, he had no business being behind the counter, around the food. Turns out the guy was some kind of manager or supervisor,(based on the way he was dressed, at least.) Shouldn’t he have known better? So, yeah… I think I’m done with Phở Hong. If you’re in the restaurant business, stay home if you’re sick!

Pros: The food comes out in seriously 2 – 3 minutes, and is very reasonably priced. Most of the dishes range from $ 5 to $ 8. The service is fast and prompt as well. Cons: The food is as average as can be. Not bad, but very forgetful. If you’re on a budget and need to grab a quick bite, Phở Hong is definitely the place to go. Just don’t expect to be blown away by the quality or flavor of the food.

The spring rolls were okay. I like other places better. Chicken vermecelli bowl was tasty and chicken was freshly prepared and hot! I’ve been to other places where you could tell the chicken was already prepared, not to mention cold. The bowl was also big. I thought I would be able to finish it but I barely made a dent. Now I have leftovers :)

I’ve been here a handful more times and I just wanted to update that this is possibly the best phở broth in town, it’s just awesome. The meatballs are not as good as Phở Saigon or a few other places but the broth makes up for it. Also, it wasn’t until my 4th or 5th visit that I realized grilled pork and grilled chicken are options for the spring rolls. I’m not a fan of shrimp or shredded pork so finding this out only make the place more awesome because the grilled pork rolls are some of the best in town as well.

This was my go to lunch spot when I worked at the Domain. It was right down the street and it is much better than any of the crap in the Domain. There is something about the rice at this place that I love. I am not sure what they do, but somehow it is always perfect. It’s just regular old white rice… but damn, I love it! I always get the Lemongrass Chicken, and it is always tasty and delicious. The Phở is good as well, if you are into that sort of thing. Though I always opt for a rice dish, for reasons stated above. This isn’t exactly an over-the-top glowing review, but this isn’t an over-the-top kind of place. It’s just simple food in a simple setting that happens to be delicious. I really can’t put it any more simply than that.

Oh how things have changed in 2+ years! 1. I am now a semi-regular customer of this place, whether it’s with my coworkers, bf, friends(after Adelbert’s down the road), or just little olé me and I’ve rarely had a bad experience. 2. I really appreciate the flavor of the broth here after having some bland phở around town. 3. They now take credit cards for purchases over $ 10 and deliver if you’re within 5 miles and order more than $ 20. 4. They added a spicy stir fried section that looks great. 5. You CANNOT go wrong with #11 or #14(phở, the beef noodle soup), or #35(vermicelli with lettuce/grilled pork and shrimp), or #58(rice with grilled pork and a fried egg)
