Outstanding dinner on Christmas evening. Deliciously prepared appetizers and entrees. Expensive, but worth it for special occasions.

One of my very favorite restaurants. Their food is always fresh and superbly prepared. The staff is absolutely the best. They treat you like a close friend. I especially like their fish dishes. Excellent!

Still one of my favorite restaurants! Last night, I ordered the Crispy Skin Duck Magret(Hudson Valley duck breast is slow rendered and oven roasted, served with peach and foie gras tatin, balsamic raspberry reduction and sautéed haricots verts). It was absolutely delicious!

The new fad of a word«YAASSSS» describes my feelings towards Plate By Dzintra. First of all its very cute and cozy, and by cozy I mean make a reservation well in advance, there are only maybe 7 tables but that coincides with the food being fabulous as they really put the effort in. It is beer and wine only, but a good selection at that. The menu is small, like 5 app choices, 5 or 6 meal choices, but that is not to a fault. I went with a group of 9 and we all just ate off each others plates so we could try it all. 2 meals were just ok, but the rest were fabulous. Rumor has it that the menu changes frequently but if you go and the scallop risotto is an option, DOIT. For desert we had a butterscotch pot de crème and bread pudding, both good but the pot de crème definitely trumped, it was absolutely amazing and light.

Ok, 3.5 stars but there’s no clicky button for that rating. I loved the food at this place, the staff was friendly and attentive. I went for lunch with the gals and not only was there a good wine selection but the ruben was to die for. The reason why I don’t give this place 4 or 5 stars is that the hours they are open ANDACTUALLYTHERE are frustrating. I keep telling my hubby how wonderful the food is but we show up and they are closed yet again, despite the posted hours. I want to eat there again but they are never open!

Delicious food, wonderfully plated! Went for an intimate family dinner with my husband and daughter And was pleasantly surprised! I absolutely adore this restaurant. This is our favorite spot to go to. We go probably 3 – 4 times a month!(They know us by name.) I recommend them to everyone I know!

My wife and I have been coming here for a year and we have been delighted every time. The food is very good and the staff is great. Dzintra is on our short list of restaurants along with Uchiko, congress, LaV, Swifts attics, and Parkside. They are the best in the Lakeway area.

Every time we have a terrific time, the food was spectacular and the service was excellent, they even went out of their way to make something for my picky daughter. She loved it

Loved this place! The Pork Oso Bucco was outstanding, crab stack was good but the quaint atmosphere was the best. Service was a little slow and lacked a bit of attentiveness but we were not in a hurry!

I was so excited to come here again, as our first visit here was quite memorable. I get so bored of all the casual mediocre dining in Lakeway, so it’s a treat to visit an upscale, beautifully decorated restaurant, where the people make an effort to get dressed. We started with the lobster tower appetizer which was very good, but not amazing. My husband had the braised short ribs, which were very good, but lacking flavor. I asked if there was horseradish,(which would have helped) but they had nothing to give it a kick, and the waiter did not seem too concerned. I had the halibut with crab, and creamy potatoes. Very delicious, EXCEPT– the crab was canned. Gross, I couldn’t eat it. I would rather have had a little bit of fresh real crab, rather than what I got. Especially with the price tag attached. Good wine list, and prices. And yes, the bathroom here is lovely! Maybe I should have given three stars, because as I mentioned– our waiter was cold and not very attentive. He didn’t even tell us his name. I am hoping the next time we come here, I can validate 4 star service, hopefully five, because we are lucky to have Plate here. There is no other restaurant around that can compare.

Our first visit was for Valentines day this past Friday. Not the most romantic atmosphere. Service was spotty. Had to wave a server down to get our first drink. The food was average at best, especially for the price. Wouldn’t go back there.

I have hear about this place for couple of years and finally I had a chance to go. It was amazing. The décor and food was great. The best part was the chance to meet and talk to Dzintra and her husband. They are amazing people and they know most of the customers that dine there regularly. Very romantic place with good food and atmosphere. I can’t wait to go there again and try other dishes.

Cute atmosphere and moderate food but for the price it is not even close to satisfying. The food is presented well and the head chef seems very qualified but my overall experience was much less than satisfying unfortunately.

We were celebrating my husband’s birthday with a show at the Backyard this past weekend so I went looking for restaurants in the Bee Cave area as well. I found Plate by Dzintra on the web, and what a find it was! We selected it based on the photos of the food on the web site, as well as the reviews. Neither were exaggerated, and the food was a good as it looked. I had the Lucky Ducky Duo(duck breast and foie gras) and he had the Alaskan halibut. Oh, and the crab tower as an appetizer. The food was amazing, the service was great, and Dzintra was charming. I can’t wait for a reason to go back again. Diane G.

We’ve been to Dzintra’s PLATE many times. Dinner is always a treat, and their occasional lunches offer the rare«civilized» midday dining experience in the Bee Cave/Lake Pointe/Lakeway area. I’ve seen several reviews on Unilocal that are unfairly negative. All I can say is, if your meal is not up to your standards, speak up to the restaurant staff. I know that if something is not right, Dzintra or whoever is in the kitchen will make it right. Dzintra is a Cordon Bleu-trained chef. She’s at her best with high-end cuisine. That means both high quality and price. Do not go to PLATE and expect a cheap, fast meal. This is not Mimi’s. Also, Dzintra is in the kitchen many nights, or she’s off buying food, or she’s doing publicity spots. She is a chef. If you go to PLATE and expect Dzintra to come ask you how you are doing, you will be disappointed. There are other chefs who cook at PLATE, too. Chris is excellent, but I’ve never met him. That’s because he is in the kitchen, where the chef is supposed to be. Dzintra’s husband Allen had health issues this summer from July through August. During this time Dzintra may have been distracted. Some of the comments I’ve seen from diners during the time Allen was ill are unfair. Someone suggested that PLATE was set up for Dzintra by some«Sugar Daddy.» That’s ridiculous and untrue. This is a boutique, gourmet restaurant, a Mom and Pop shop. Things change a lot. Lunches come and go. Supper clubs and classes come and go. The menus change weekly, and yes, the kitchen might be out of something. The best way to know what’s going on is to get on the e-mail list. That way you can keep up with the ever-changing menus and service times. Also, ASKYOURSERVER before you order something. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. One of our favorite servers is Natalia. She basically TELLSUS what to order, and we are rarely disappointed. I gave PLATE five stars because it’s the best gourmet restaurant in this area. But it is not perfect. No restaurant is. All I can say is, give PLATE a try for a special dinner, upscale lunch or a cooking class, and if your meal is not up to standards, tell your server. I saw some Unilocal post that said someone felt«invisible» at PLATE. Well, speak up. Say hello. Be friendly. Ask questions. Perhaps this diner felt invisible because she was. That’s no cause to pout and write a negative review on Unilocal

Best boutique restaurant in the vicinity, hands down. Chef Owner Dzintra and husband Allen use thematic rotating menus based on best available fresh locally sourced ingredients. Creative beautiful dishes in a nice interior setting perfect for date night or special lunch(despite being in a shopping center). Highly recommend at above average price point… great quality and service.

Everything was absolutely amazing! The escolar was out of this world and my date’s salmon was dee-lish as well. The décor is ultra hip and comfortable. I’ve been here three times now, and we will definitely be back. I’m starting to become a regular. :-]

The décor looked promising! I’d vote this place to have the most beautiful restrooms in the Bee Cave area, and highly competitive in Austin! Excellent taste, designer. If you’re going to expect customers to abide by reservations, and charge such high prices, I do expect to be treated much better. I won’t be back. You made me feel completely invisible. Goodbye, Hapu‘upu‘u!

Dzintra is expanding from just serving lunch. She’s gradually adding evening meals, starting with Wine & Small Plate Fridays. Let me tell you, the plates may be small, but their impact is huge. The Nicoise Salad had a(literally) fresh twist, using seared ahi sashimi tuna instead of canned. All the classic ingredients were there: bacon, green beans, boiled egg and new potatoes, drizzled with a creamy wasabi vinaigrette that gave it just a bit of a kick. The Savory-Sweet Fig and Pear Pizza, topped with fig jam, melted French brie, crisp slices of Asian pear and fresh arugula, was a serious slice of heaven. The crust had just a touch of honey, and the arugula brought a nice peppery contrast to the sweetness. The Caprese Pizza was topped with mozzarella and shavings of mild, nutty Parmesan. The fresh tomatoes and herbs were a delight on the crispy crust. Juicy Bacon-Cheeseburger Sliders were perfectly grilled to our order and served with hand-cut french fries and a gourmet ketchup. The contemporary-but-cozy dining room was fun and festive at night, with a lot of lively conversation going on as the wine got flowing. You can either sit at individual tables or gather round the central cooktop. The place is filled with artwork, btw; even the restrooms are hung with paintings!
