This place was way awesome. I met one of the owners and he really made me feel like I was welcome and that he appreciated the business. The place is mellow and they played some good tunes the entire time I was there. It was clean and Eric was super attentive and didn’t mind telling us about his fishies. They also sell cool stuff like glass and hookahs and vintage clothing and some novelty stuff. It’s BYOB and you can buy some munchy food there as well. I won’t ever go to another hookah bar in Austin. I’ve been to Kasbah but they were kind of stuck up and sort of snobbish. This place takes the win.

We were very excited to go here after reading the reviews. Unfortunately it seems to be closed. We went here tonight… Saturday at nearly 10 pm(should have been prime time) and it was all dark with a For Lease sign in the window. The guys at the tattoo shop upstairs said it was shut down. Bummer! I hope they have just moved to a cool new location!

I heart Redline Hookah! This place is almost hidden in a shopping center on S. 1st between what I think is a tattoo shop and a convenience store. So don’t feel bad if you have missed it, it is kind of hiding in plain site. Now that I know where Redline is, I will definitely be a returning customer. You walk in, place your order of what shisha you want(you can mix an match if you want to), and step into a groovy little room complete with beaded curtain and wait for your hookah to arrive. There are tons of flavors and the flavor we tried was high quality. There is a dj in the room playing jams too, the décor and lighting makes the«smoking room» very chill. Now out comes your hookah ready to smoke, the employees will come by after a while to reload your coals. All you have to do is sit back, smoke, and chill. I recommend having a seat by one of the two aquariums in the room, You can watch the fish swim while puffing on your hookah, a great way to end your day.

The best thing about this hookah lounge is the worker. I visited Redline tonight and we were chatting with one of the guys who works there and it was actually his first night! But he’s really experienced with hookah and everything and was sooo friendly and super sweet to us. They have a lot of flavors here and the hookahs are legit! Really pretty and great. The environment is also great – they have fun music, really neat decorations, and two fishtanks that are cool :) And they have a really cool painting in the corner of the room that makes for great photos. Redline is located in a sketchier neighborhood, but it’s worth it!

I visited this place while travelling for business after craving hookah and seeing positive reviews. During my week in Austin, I ended up being a regular(if that’s even possible!). The lounge is super chill with a great vibe. The people are nice, and Eric, the owner, is a very cool guy. He knows his hookah, takes it seriously, and can come up with a killer blend for you. If you happen to strike up a conversation with him, his DJ’ing skills may come up at some point. Along with the artwork, there’s something about the music in this place that more than makes it work. I’ll be stopping by this place again the next time I’m in Austin.

I used to go to Kasbah for my HOOKAH but now I am in love with redline hookah! The atmosphere is relaxing and makes me feel secluded, in a good way, and the music is chill. LOTSOFFLAVORTOCHOOSEFROMTOO!!! that was one of the many things that I was so excited about when I first went to Redline. Plus the people who usually work there are friendly and willing to let you smell any of the flavors if you’re skeptical. Overall I highly recommend Redline over the overly hyped Kasbah.

I honestly don’t know why I haven’t wrote a review for this place already, I go here alllllllllllllll the time. It’s not far from my apartment and it’s super easy to get to. Seriously, parking is a dream. Why is this place so great? First of all, they have a HUGE selection of flavors. Every time I go there they have something new. Last time it was mint chocolate, which, let me just say, is delicious. If you are ever confused about what you want to get, the guy behind the counter is ALWAYS willing to help. Seriously, he’s the most helpful person ever and is really friendly. I bought my hookah here, so most of the time I just go here to purchase shisha and whatnot, however I have also sat down and hung out there before, and the staff is really on it. They’re always asking if you’re ok, giving you new coals, etc, without being annoying or pushy. Also, it’s BYOB, which I really like because then you don’t have to worry about having a high tab at the end of the night. Why not five stars? Sometimes they run out of stuff, and sometimes they open later than the advertised 8:00 or close early. It’s kind of hit or miss if they’re open on the slower nights, which can be mildly irritating. Overall though, this place is super. Which is why I go there all the time. Sorry I didn’t write this review earlier…

Unilocal has yet to steer me wrong with hookah bars, and redline didn’t dissapoint. The place is small and could be described as very chill. The music was at a good level, loud enough to be heard but I could still comfortably hear my friends. Now for the most important part: the hookah. They’ve got a really superb selection of flavors from different brands, and the staff knows enough to give good reccomendations beyond double apple. The best part was the coal service. It was seriously like the waiter was electronically monitoring my coal. Not less then four times I was about a minute away from requesting another coal when low and behold he’d show up with one lit especially for us! I was impressed. Really the only bad thing I have to say is no alcohol or hot drinks. They do let you byob from the store next door though which is a plus. Finally be sure to check out the kitsch lamps made from stargate hookahs throughout the place

Another great find on South First! They definitely offer the perfectly chill environment for hookah enjoyment. Many flavors to pick from and friendly service. We were very well attended to for the entirety of our stay. He(one of the owners) even sat and smoked with us for a bit answering all my «first timer» questions with out any judgment on what I am sure were a few dumb questions. The only thing that would make Redline Hookah better would be to offer alcoholic beverages, but unfortunately regulations don’t allow for that. If you buy some of their non-alcoholic beverages they will allow to bring in whatever you fancy from the convenient store next door.

This is a great place to lounge, chat, listen to great music and smoke hookah. It’s a very relaxing place, and actually encourages conversation either between friends or someone new because the couches are situated in a way to facilitate that. It is BYOB but you can easily get something good from the convenience store right next door. They have a huge screen for tv and or videos, and the flavor selection is two full pages of choices. I’ve been loving guava lately. Ivory coast was also delicious. The owners are great, and help facilitate musicians like me, in having a great show, and a great night. It’s centrally located, easy to find, austin local, and cozy. I think the couches are comfortable, and could easily sit in them for hours at a time. They didn’t ask me to write this, It’s just one of my new favorite hang out spots in austin. Something other than a bar, only costs around $ 15 for a hookah, and lasts a few hours. Just talking of it makes me want to go smoke some hookah :) Carrie p. s. come check out our show the last thursday of every month if you want some great live local electronica music:)

I do drink, I dont smoke. This proved a particularly interesting evening as they dont have drinks but do have enough tobacco to keep a camel convention happy. Why four stars? First, they hosted my friend’s bada$$ band. Second, as long as i purchased something, I was able to make additional purchases of bevvies next door. Third, they have a crazy eel and fish sucker in aquarium and were showing planet earth or something educational, instead of girls gone wild. Fourth, I was wearing a shirt that said ninja please, half wet from a watergun fight, i changed in their bathroom, and no one batted an eye. Looks like they have a pretty good selection, don’t be put off by the outside, and if you find a blackberry in the red leather couches, let me know. It was the unfortunate victim of an incredibly random night out.

Shady on the outside but lotsa hookah love on the inside. After driving past this place several times during late night breakfast taco runs to La Mexicana, my friends and I decided it wouldn’t hurt to try Redline out. The interior is small and illuminated by these giant orbs scattered around the room. The couches aren’t very lounge-able but better than sitting up on fold-up chairs like at Kasbah. They have a fairly good selection of quality shisha(like Romman) and you can mix flavors. Try coconut with pineapple — mmm piña colada in your tobacco. Also, come here to avoid the college crowd. This is the only hookah lounge that isn’t close to UT. They have karaōke and local DJs on select nights. Bring your green, they don’t accept plastic. It’s around $ 12/hookah and no additional fees if you share with your friends.

Do you like to «caress the mystical albatross»? Have you ever«sucked the warlock’s elbow»? Do you often fancy a «ride on the demon chariot of Baltimore»? These phrases are meaningless gibberish; I just made them up. But in some alternate universe, they mean«smoking a dope ass hookah whilst chilling and listening to tunes.» And that’s exactly what you’ll get at Redline Hookah, a hidden little den of hookah happy times. Quality hookahs, tons of flavors(all mixable), and super friendly staff. The price is slightly above one of the more generic cafes, but the quality, ambiance, and chillage are just lovely. Recommended. And tell them Mr Doctor sent you. They’ll think you’re fucking nuts.
