Love this little dive in Austin. It was $ 5 Long Island ice tea pitcher night so that’s all I needed to know. It was perfectly made! At first the bar looks small but head to the back and it opens up to a courtyard and an outside second floor that sits on top of the bar. Fun relaxing place to enjoy the weirdness that is Austin! Be sure to stop in to the photo booth for some pictures!

Total dive bar, but that’s just what we wanted. 5 dollar pitchers of long islands and lone star tall boys. A great, inexpensive combination. Our bartender was attentive and fast. The long islands were also well-made. No skimping on the booze here! If you want to water down at a proper dive bar, check this place out.

This place is well known for being extremely racist and homophobic. My friend was literally attacked and thrown to the ground by several employees for suspicion of being gay. This place NEEDS to be shut down there is no place for homophobic racist pricks like this in Austin!

This was my second time back in Austin and Shakespeare’s is always a great time. The Thursday and Friday specials are pretty great. Thursday is 5 dollar well pitchers. And Friday is 5 dollar Long Island pitchers. This is literally a small pitcher and it is a lot of alcohol. Probably about 3 shots in one drink. This place is pretty big with I believe 3 different bars throughout the place. I will probably be back pretty soon.

I can’t say anything about the actual service or music or drinks. But that’s only because they don’t let black people in! They keep their bar under a certain percentage POC. I have been rejected or seen friends get rejected from here multiple times. Enjoy supporting a prejudiced establishment if you decide to go here.

Kinda pricey beers for 6th street. Fun to go upstairs and look out over the people on 6th.

I love this place for so many reasons. As you become a more frequent guest, you get to know the employees and management. Here I sit, at Shakespeare’s, in the midst of ACL, Saturday night, and I am awed. Talk about professionalism and grace, under fire. THESE guys get it. It doesn’t matter if there are the maximum allowed in, with 300 people waiting to get in, they are champs. Sara, the gorgeous bartender, is never fazed, keeps her composure, and smile, and elegance, and delivers an exceptional experience to everyone. That’s why everyone waits in line for her. So don’t get mad if you have to wait. Sara and JOE, and Thomas, and Jay will ensure your visit is great. They dont tolerate trouble-makers, so be forewarned. I love these guys. Joe, the afternoon barkeep, is amazing. He’s able to do his job while dealing with a VERY diverse crowd, including homeless, regular who I love –TED — incredibly brilliant man, and Awesome crazy out-of-towners, and an incredible crowd of whatevers. I also enjoy Neil, the manager, he takes care of business, and if you want to come in and discuss sports, he’s your man. He’s a great guy anyway I’ve met incredible people here. Life-changing friendships. You guys are the last remaining vestige of what Austin used to be. Thanks, Shakes for all the fun, and the love.

Awesome happy hour specials each day. The day I went they had well pitchers for $ 5.50!!! Cant beat that. The patio is nice and overlooks dirty 6th. The bartender that was there the day I went was extremely nice and seemed to enjoy his job.

What else could you ask for?! The rooftop has a great mix of music to dance to. I have been here many times and always have such a great time. It is one of my favorite bars on 6th!

Stopped in to listen to one of the musicians and have a few drinks. Bar is very basic plus It was happy hour so drinks were in the 3.50 to 5 buck range Nice simplistic layout with upstairs rooftop setting and large outdoor rear stage which is well set up for music and entertainment. Bathrooms are down and dirty. If there is a good band playing then stop in and grab a simple drink.

They gave my friends credit card and drivers license to someone else. Pay in cash. The music is great but they gave away the card and didn’t even care.

Tell me if yall think this isn’t racist or prejudice. This usto be one of my favorite Bars on 6th st. Smh. I was dressed appropriately and couldn’t go in just because I was wearing timberland boots. They had a list of items that they deemed inappropriate. Some of these read: No grills, Jordan’s, polo or Timberland Boots, no chains, «excessive jewelry», and tattoos deemed inappropriate by the staff. Really Shakespeare’s? That’s just flat out racist. Might as well wave a confederate flag in front of your business. I don’t dress like this was just wearing boots at the time, but I’ll won’t be going here again and that’s a shame. I had some good memories there.

This place is DANGEROUS! AVOIDIT! The bouncers don’t care. A random guy started a confrontation with my friend which broke his nose. They just left the guy who started the confrontation and his friends walk away. I’ve been going here for 8 years. I won’t support this establishment again.

Ugh I am getting close to 23 and I still have those nights that I wanna drink like a college kid with $ 5.50LONGISLANDPITCHERS and people watching from the balcony. I usually don’t ‘do’ dirty(well, kinda) but I will always ‘do’ Shakespeare’s. ‘ Best place to come if you don’t wanna break the bank and have a good time — don’t make any plans for the next morning though.

Oh Shakey’s, I’ve spent many a drunken nights in your bathrooms after a Thursday filled with $ 5 liquor pitchers. Shakespeare’s is really no different than any other bar on dirty but for some reason I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. What’s not to love? Cheap drinks, drunken college kids, and people watching from the balcony. My favorite nights I’ll never remember.

Shakespeare’s is what you should expect when you hit Dirty 6th. Don’t expect high quality drinks or a super clean atmosphere. The staff is pretty friendly, but you have to be aware that you’re getting into a crap show once it gets later in the night. It’s a pretty spacious place and there are places you can escape to when you feel like it’s getting overcrowded. Overall, it’s not an entirely unique experience, but it’s a solid one.

Shakespeare’s does not look from the outside or inside like a 4 star venue but let’s be honest, you aren’t venturing here for the décor. You are here for the drinks and the value and on that front Shakespeare’s is closing in on 5 stars: Thursday $ 5 Liquor Pitchers Friday $ 5 Long Island Pitchers Thurs, Fri, Sat $ 2 Shot Specials Sometimes you want a fun night that doesn’t break the bank and you will find that and more at Shakespeare’s. It can be the start of the night or the end to the night, but either way it will deliver.

There are so many bars on 6th Street so you can’t really lose on any of your choices here. I’ve been to Shakespeare’s a few times and dig it. The drinks and beer here are completely cheap. I think I bought a round for 5 – 6 people and it came out to be $ 30. That’s a far cry from drinks in places like Hollywood or New York but I digress. There’s a dancefloor upstairs and they play pretty good music. Downstairs there’s plenty of seating and real chill. Definitely a cool spot if you want cheap drink and want to get your boogie on.
