Short Stop No 16

Worst place to eat, reason why is everything you thing about a bad restaurant is short stop. The customer service sucks, I had asked for two seperate orders and they did not respond so i even apologized to them for even asking for a seperate order .and they still were rude. It seemed liked they hated their jobs, the employees were all sweaty inside with a few fly’s I saw flying around. The cook did not use no gloves when she was making my food and the place just looks run down there’s nothing special bout there food, it’s boring with no love or taste. Sorry short stop I had a bad experience with you guys, ill never eat there again.

Quick service. Decent flavor and price. A fine place for a fast burger and fries… which are quite good, actually. I especially like the chili cheese burger… with lettuce, tomatoe and mayo added… and maybe some jalapeño when I want to kick it up a notch.
One of the places I like to go when I need it in a hurry.

Disappointed! I get home and all 3 of my hamburgers have no pickles, lettuce or tomatoes! Bun, meat and that is it! Seriously? The kid waiting the window had the personality of a rock and then I had to ask for the receipt! I tried calling them but they won’t. answer their phone!

Today I went on my lunch to get myself and my co-​worker something to eat. We were highly disappointed!!! They gave us the wrong order on everything. We thought okay we will deal with it and eat just eat, but it was horrible… The burgers looked like they were sat on and the meat was dry and hard… Just Horrible!!! I have been calling them since my 12:20 pm and they never answered… Never Again…

Just left waited almost 30 mins no one came to tell us sorry for the wait or nothing we just sat there waiting and waiting and then my fries are half full and my girlfriend only got a small handful of them I always get good service but today was absolutely horrible in my opinion

I love this place! Been coming here since I was a kid. Still good after so many years and price is still great!

They were out of chicken tenders and kept laughing at us over the intercom. We mentioned we were going somewhere else they said «duces» and laughed.

How Burger King wishes it’s «charbroiled» burgers tasted.
Fries always perfectly done. Coke tastes a little sweeter, I think they have the ratio turned up a little which I dig.
And the #1 Combo on Wednesday and Saturday is hard to be for the price.

Short Stop never lets me down! My food is always hot and fresh no matter what time I go. And if you have yet to try their hot dogs with chili and cheese… IT IS A MUST! Let us not forgot the prices are awesome$$$!!! Keep it up SS.

Short Stop is a good place to visit when you feel «peckish». I absolutely love their Wednesday Special… a burger, drink, and fries for only $ 4.95! Don’t expect gourmet food people… this place was titled correctly… food on the go!

I have a long history with Short Stop. when I was a kid growing up in South East Texas they were everywhere! Once they even did a TV commercial from my hometown Fred Texas. It doesn’t seem like that big of a deal except Fred is the smallest town ever and it was great getting some attention. Over the years it seems like more and more Short Stops have closed down and now I only ever see them in Austin and only know of two or three here.
The food isnt great but its good. the service isnt great but its good. Everything about short stop is average. Despite all of that I still love it. I wont critizise them too harshly because of nostalgia but I do wish they would up their game. I dont know if its just that when I was a kid I was easily impressed or what but I do feel like the quality of food at short stop has been on a steady decline.
If you get a chance stop by and try the food. its not going to impress that much but its cheap and good. Better than Mcdonalds. not as good as Whataburger. thats short stop.

Been getting the catfish every Friday for months now. Started out real good, noticed the catfish pieces have been getting smaller and smaller with each visit. Once it was a good meal, now would consider it a good snack. Burgers are a hit and miss. sometimes they are outstanding and other times, just a cheap greasy burger.

I love short stop. Burgers are delicious. Fries are crisp. Catfish is fantastic on Fridays. Seriously to think that you’re going to get catfish this good from a drive thru is kind of mind blowing. Everything in my review is my opinion based on my experience.

The flame grilled taste if the burgers is great and the catfish special on Fridays isn’t bad considering it’s «fast food». I really like their chicken sandwiches, too. The chicken breasts and strips are hearty and don’t have the processed consistency like other burger joints.

I love Short Stop and I’m not really sure why. It is a crappy little hole-​in-​the-​wall drive-​thru that has been in Austin forever. It is not fancy, there is no seating, and it is not cool in any way.
But it is good, my friends. Oh yes, it is good. Burger King may proclaim itself the king of the charbroiled burger, but Short Stop beats it. Hands down.
The burgers just have such a great charbroiled flavor. It tastes like something you’d get on a backyard grill. And the fries are really thin and crispy, too. Everything is made to order, so it always comes out in that white paper bag steaming hot. And it’s cheap and quick.
Short Stop is really nothing special and everything special at the same time. And I absolutely love it.

This short stop is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other ones in Austin. I find that the «hole in the wall appearing» aspect of short stop yields products that vary in their quality… However, when this short stop is good… it ends up being INCREDIBLE. And when its not incredible, its still pretty good! Short stop has a small-​town-​carnival-​esque flavor. Extra greasy, great textures, and very fun too eat. My burger was SO good here the other day, I took one bite on the road and ended up eating the WHOLE THING before I got to my house… which is only a few blocks away. I would even say that particular burger was the best fast food burger I have ever had in my life. My roommate had one also and completely agreed. They were spot on that day.
I recommend: The bacon cheeseburger with fries and a rootbeer. The burger has the perfect veggie to meat to cheese to bacon ratio. It is chemistry done right. The rootbeer is often fizzy and perfectly sweet. The fries have the remnant taste of chicken fingers (yum), and even have some crispy chicken tender nibblets sometimes thrown in on accident.-drool–

Hubby and I have lived in Austin exactly one year, and yesterday when we drove by we decided we’d try it today (too bad we didn’t notice the discounts on Wednesdays and Saturdays).
I got the fish sandwich combo, hubby got the bacon cheeseburger combo.
We loved the food, while my fish sandwich was messy, everything was fresh and the fish was nice and crisp, didn’t taste like it had been sitting around for a while. Hubby LOVED his bacon cheeseburger, he said every bite was filled with bacon, unlike other places that give you like 2 slices of bacon, he felt like the sandwich was loaded with bacon :)
The fries were good too, they tasted like they were made by the place rather than just bought and fried. Just the right amount of salt (which is apparently no salt– which I like) and nice and crispy (even by the time we got home).
We’ll definitely be going there again– I have my eye on the chilidog combo with pie! :)

Good burgers, good prices, in & out fast. Traffic can be a pain sometimes, but anywhere in Austin is getting like that. Two drive-​thru windows, though. I stopped by the middle of last month and noticed the new Chicken Tender sandwich. Three large chunks o’ chicken with a crunchy coat. Yummers! (Added to

Frozen lemonade is too sweet sometimes — french fries are pretty good!
Not a bad place to swing through if you’re hungry on your way home from work!
