Despite what Google says this is NOTBYOB. Awesome bartenders(whom know how to pour a strong drink) This is the classic definition of a dive bar. Awesome music and drinks. The only food available is pizza. If you go for food you will be dissapointed, if you go for music you will leave happy. Great blues music every Sunday night.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard blues done this well in Austin on a Sunday for free. If you don’t get your butt up and moving, you must be deaf. Austin’s best kept secret!

Great venue for an intimate date. Have been there with bfs several times for dancing and they always have great bands/music during the week. However, drinks/cocktails aren’t that special in my opinion… Had the tootsie roll cocktail, it was interesting.

This is a great lounge place for some local music acts, and the sofas and low light inside make the setting intimate.

This place is a serious stone! I totally confess I judged this book by it’s cover before entering and hesitantly walked in. To my surprise I was over taken with the sweet scent of salty tasty popcorn and a dim lit room full of incredible jazz melodies and a great community vibe! To put it simply — Not terrible priced beverages and free(awesome) popcorn with terrific music, you can not go wrong!

There are fewer and fewer places left in the ATX that capture the essence of old Austin. I always SMH when I see rapid development and unbridled growth going on in this town — like Rainey St and the east side — because the greedy are killing the very things that drew them(and us) to these quaint and quirky spots in the first place. Sigh. So you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon skylark lounge. Skylark gives you a delightful taste of old Austin, even though it’s fairly new. It’s old school comfy, with a nice inner bar area filled with booths and tables and a stage that regularly features some awesome local blues talent. The outside patio/yard area is perfect for large groups — it’s huge — but two can easily find a cozy corner too. I just don’t know how I’ve not been here before. But I know I’ll be back, especially for a happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays so I can be serenaded by the wonderful Margaret wright. Staff is very friendly, drinks are tasty and affordable. I know that there’s pizza available but we weren’t there to eat so I can’t comment on the menu or food. Owner and ATX native Johnny latouf set out to give back some of what’s been stolen from our fair city, and he succeeds beautifully. Go support him and be thankful he had this vision.

The Skylark, Where you’ll always feel at home. This place is unstoppable. A set up tavern in the corner of Airport and Manor that brings a nostalgic and cozy feeling to the area. Terry works behind the bar Monday-Thursday, and he ALONE is what makes this place worth checking out. Great prices, fresh popcorn, as well as a slew of tasks through the week make Skylark a cherry place for a casual drink. Picture you as well as your closest buddies opened a watering hole that was one hundred percent catered to what you desired in a pub.

Girl walks into a bar… Over TWOYEARS since she last visited and the owner throws his arms around her and says«It’s so great to see you again!» Seriously, Johnny LaTouf is still one of the sweetest biz owners you will ever meet, and as much as I’ve wanted to revisit this sweet little neighborhood bar, it’s a tad(waaaay) far from MY ‘hood. However, when I had a friend visiting from Chicago, a friend that’s a musician and loves divey bars, this was the first and only spot I recommended. Especially to see the amazing Margaret Wright play for a Friday happy hour. I was so happy to see how packed this place gets now and it’s obvious The LaTouf brothers have a big fan base and well deserved. When I visited 2 years ago, it was BYOB and had no food. Now, they have a full bar, generous pours, and they make some damn tasty pizza in house. Oh, and bonus points for all you can eat popcorn! Which we did… eat all we could of that before ordering the pizza. If you are a fan of blues, or classic soul, or just great music in general, Skylark has it. And hospitality as well. It may not look like much but it has tons of heart and soul as well.

The ambiance here is superb for a chill night with friends. With the sign outside, one would think otherwise, but it’s wonderful. Domestics are $ 3 on a Saturday night, which isn’t too bad. And the band Playing tonight is pretty damn legit. Also, i ordered a baked potato, and it was the size of a well-fed 3 month old child. Sweeeeeeet

This is my favorite bar in my neighborhood, to be sure. It’s kinda easy to miss, driving down Airport… but tucked away behind a yellow shack is the Skylark Lounge. I went with a friend, and after paying the $ 5 cover on a Saturday night, we sat ourselves in a booth towards the back. The perfect seats: close to the bar, far enough away from the band to hear yourself talk, and next to the complimentary popcorn machine. Yes. Free popcorn. Help yourself. The crowd was rather eclectic; young people, old people, couples, singles, married folk, hipsters, grandparents… everyone was clearly there for the tunes, as was I. Two bands played. The first one was good, the second one was GREAT! They have a good menu, too, if you’re looking for something to eat. The popcorn and the bar were enough for us that night. Can’t wait to go again!

Super place, it is very friendly and great live music too bad closes at 1AM. Oh and the best pizza I’ve eaten Eva! Yeah maybe I don’t get out much but it’s really good! Great diverse crowd everyone will surely find someone to communicate with no matter who you are old or young.

This bar is amazing and one of the few actual«Austin» feeling places left in town. If you’ve lived or visited here long enough, you might remember that as a still little bit of Texas and a whole lot of eccentricity with great tunes. Bars like Skylark should not be confused with one of the ubiquitous bars now in town where the affluent go to feel hip and edgy. This place naturally has all the vibe so many new businesses here try to manufacture as «Keeping Austin Weird» becomes an evermore homogenized and mass produced product. Thankfully, at Skylark, it’s still a lovingly handmade item. Go have a whiskey and listen to some tunes there before it gets turned into a condo.

The atmosphere is amazing! While lacking in size of the dance floor, it makes up for it with the amazing and wonderful musical styling of the live band! The patio is also a great area to hang around, play a game of giant Jenga, and make new friends! The earlier the better chance you’ll have at a good parking spot! The lot fills up fast later in the evenings, I was told. Now go and check out the blues at this awesome spot!

I like this quirky dive bar. They’ve got some pretty good music coming through there and the drinks are reasonable and they have a very tasty Mexican Martini. Once you go outside in the back it’s like a magical weird little garden with picnic tables candles odds and ends but a really cool vibe I like this spot… the surrounding neighborhood seems kind of sketchy but don’t let that deter you! Live a little.

Not that this place needs another glowing review, but here we go! I love this lounge! We go on the last Saturday of every month to watch the Javelinas play. Every time we go, we have a fantastic time. The bar staff is extremely friendly and the owner is a really nice guy! The beer selection is good and they now have a full bar. Finally, do NOT sleep on the pizza joint in the back of the bar. They are slinging some of the most delicious pies in town. Go for a pepperoni and jalapeño and enjoy the garlicly goodness while listening to some great music.

Wonderful neighborhood bar! The night we were there we enjoyed old school blues singers with talented bands. The place is part honkytonk, part dive bar, part blues joint and very much the place for anyone and everyone. Staff is very friendly and the place is filled with people who love the music there. It’s worth checking out — you’ll definitely feel welcomed.

This may be our new favorite place in town. Living in Mueller, we had to try this place based on the awesome reviews and how close it is for us. We went on a Saturday night to check out some live blues music. We didn’t eat dinner beforehand since we knew they had pizza and we had to try it. Boy, what a great decision! The pizza was awesome and such a reasonable price! We’re already thinking about the pizza we want next time! The music was great, the vibe was perfect, and the setting was intimate. It just offers a perfect combo of everything for someone wanting to get away from the wildness of downtown Austin. We can see ourselves becoming regulars here.

Absolute gem in the rough! The staff is like family: so nice, caring & observant. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday so they graciously offered to take photos, photo bomb us & bought my friend a birthday drink of his choice(Maker’s Mark on the rocks). The crowd is equally friendly, fun & great. Loved dancing & chatting with«strangers». Def check out the patio… and what a great blues band that we enjoyed!
