This place is not representative of the other locations. Their poor selection is just start of this POD’s downfalls. Their posted hours are 11:00. I have gone there many times at 11:20 and 11:30, and the place is not fully open. Regretfully, the poor guy who runs the place and seems to be a hard worker is set to start at 11, but he has easily 30 minutes of work to do. It is ridiculous, that you can’t show up and just grab something at 11:10 or 11:15, because often most if not all stuff is not out. Besides the presentation being poor and not ready for early lunch, I was mystified that as a regular patron, who has spent thousands of dollars with Snap Kitchen, that they don’t link to their point system. To me, the POD is a poor execution of the brand and concept. I hope they quickly fix this, as I will either hit up the 6th street location or simply choose to eat somewhere else with a sour taste in my mouth about Snap Kitchen as a whole.

Snap Pad– thank you for making me feel like a green goddess in the trenches of SXSW. I got to be a part of the annual South by SouthWest festival in Austin this year. This festival showcases music, interactive and film components. Most of these events lure attendants in with lots of free food and drink from sunrise to well into sundown. Needless to say, when walking to my venue and seeing this pod appear of what seemed to be mid-air, I felt prayers of health answered. I sipped on their Super Greens cold press juice which had kale, spinach, romaine, cucumber, celery, parsely and lemon juice. This helped me feel instantly better about the long days and nights ahead of me. When able to sneak out for dinner, I ran over and grabbed a chicken and butternut squash macaroni that most enjoyable. The portion sizes are big enough to make your tummy full but not too big to make you want to take a nap. Everything about this pod made me feel energized and happy. Next time I’m in Austin I’ll make a trip to their mothership location and stay for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Snap Pod offers a more selective selection, as it does not have the same facilities as, well, an actual storefront, but this characteristic actually gives it more appeal. In the same vein of food trucks that run out or have daily specials that are a hot commodity, this pod offers Snap’s goods in a smaller setting. But to bring it full circle, the appeal of being on Congress smack dab downtown affords this true satellite location the ability to be mobile as well as feeding the highly mobile clientele. Though portions are smaller, you may be able to give a couple things a shot for a heavier meal, or just be satisfied with one option if desiring a light meal. Yes, the healthy fare can run you a premium, but the fact that they do have various options that can satisfy even the pickiest eater does give them a leg up in my book. For any meal, Snap would serve well for a basic, consistent option. No bells and whistles, just flat out health-nut fare. Some gluten-free, some low-fat. Additionally, this location provides something a little«edgier» than being set up in the Triangle or some other shopping center…

I recently started frequenting the Snap Kitchen Pod downtown and I’m impressed. They have TONS of gluten free options, and gluten free veggie options when I’m feeling healthy. it’s reasonable, the portions are perfect and it’s a healthy alternative to most downtown options. But the best part is the drop dead GORGEOUS guy who works in the pod. Sigh…

It’s hard to believe something can taste so good AND be so good for you. AND, without you even cooking it yourself! Their portions are perfect(even come in different sizes if you so desire), and they have plenty of varying options for you to choose from. Even items that are vegetarian, nut and gluten-free! One of the best things about their menu items is they have the nutritional value right on the packages. You know exactly what you are eating! AND, the containers they come in are reusable. I feel like I’m getting delicious, gourmet cuisine as takeout. My favorite item I’ve gotten so far has been the Turkey Chili, but a coworker got some Bison Quinoa Hash today that looked(and smelled) amazing; I will be trying that soon! My only desire would be for this pod to be open early enough for actual breakfast(current hours are 11am — 2pm Mon — Fri), because I’d love to try some of their breakfast items freshly made. Other than that, this is a perfect, quick stop for a midweek lunch, and you won’t feel guilty for eating out, I guarantee it! $ 5 – 8 for a perfect portion of a healthy, nutritious meal. You just can’t beat that. You’ll easily spend that much(or more) for lunch other places downtown.

I was craving Kebabalicious, but I figured something healthy would be a good idea if I wanted to go crazy on dinner tonight. So I begrudgingly walked into Snap. I mean, how would you feel if you were craving Austin’s finest falafel and then convince yourself to eat healthy out of a green pod? =/ I told the guy behind the counter that I was super hungry, I wanted something protein-y, and it had to be vegetarian. He served me up the«Spicy Sambal Tofu» and a side of the«Truffled Quinoa ‘Mac & Cheese’» It looked green ??? I wasn’t convinced it would be any good. In fact, I brought the two dishes back to the office where I would microwave them there and then cry in disappointment. Flavor country was 2 exits ago and I passed it up. 2 ½ minutes into microwaving… hmm… something smells really good. I walked around the office wondering who got the tasty stuff for lunch? Pizza, banh-mi, some jerk with a falafel sandwich, ugh… it must’ve been his food. Back to the beeping microwave. Fork in the tofu… ohhh hell yeah. It’s spicy! It’s good. Could it be? Fork into the quinoa. SOB. There’s a truffle party in my mouth and I’m invited. Something this tasty can’t be healthy, right? Well… turns out, I’m nicely full, my flavor buds are dancing and I just put down a TOTAL of 350 calories and 25 grams of protein. I give the food 5 stars. I give the review 4 stars, because with all things, there’s always a catch. Price for both = $ 11.50

What a wonderful addition to the downtown congress offering of food carts. Snap pod is not only unbelievably convenient and reasonably priced, the food tastes fresh, healthy, and delicious. My relationship with Snap Pod began during their first week next to my office. I had just moved into a new house in Austin so I was low on groceries, snacks, etc so it was really convenient to just run to snap pod in the morning to grab breakfast and lunch. Breakfast options are plentiful and even the small portions don’t leave you hungry. Lunch options are equally delicious and I’m into the veggie lasagna, pulled pork and burritos. The best thing about snap pod though, is that it simultaneously teaches you about portion sizes —a small serving keeps you full for hours! Food trailers around here come and go but I’m hoping this ones in for the long haul.

I’m going to be honest… I’ve never been to Snap Kitchen. If you like Snap Kitchen, I can confidently say you will love Snap Pod. Because Snap Pod is their trailer counterpart, and all the food is from Snap Kitchen, and it is delicious. Snap Pod opened last week, and I hear their grand opening is going to be around the first week in September, and they are a wonderful addition to the trailer scene downtown. They seem to be open all the time, breakfast, lunch, dinner, stop by! After looking at their lunch menu online, I was presently surprised to see most items online were at the trailer! In all different sizes. Prices range from $ 5 — $ 10, all the food is in a cooler at the front, and they will heat it up for you or you can take it to go and heat it up at your office or at home. They had breakfast items, lunch items, cookies, cakes, vegan dishes, meat dishes, something for everyone. And everything is organic, in the same style as Snap Kitchen. The only thing I didn’t see that I missed was salad, no salad to be seen. But a great selection. They even had peanut butter pancakes that I am definitely going to have to try. I got the chimichurri grilled beef, $ 7.50– I thought it looked small but it was the perfect portion. And came with some delicious carrots, spinach and mushrooms. Fantasticcccccccccc. And healthy! Healthy lunch! YES! Thanks for moving in Snap Pod, you’ll definitely see me again. Maybe tomorrow. And the day after.
