We hosted an event here that we were able to book three days in advance. Every other place in town was booked, and by pure luck, the back room and bowling level were open! The setup of the venue was great, we were able to keep our event private without sound bleeding from the front room. Karen and Lora were fantastic at walking us through the pre-event logistics, and Lora was a FANTASTIC on-site event manager. They were very accommodating to us, the staff was great, the vibe was really special, we’ll definitely keep them in mind as a first choice for our next event! Thanks again!

What a cool place in downtown Austin! We went on a friday night and we got in so quickly at 9:30am — the bar was practically empty. No cover charge! We were going to sit downstairs and wait for the band to start, but we decided to climb the four flights of stairs(yes, you heard right… those stairs must be real dangerous when you’re intoxicated) and go to the rooftop bar, and it was so awesome that we ended up staying. We snagged a lounge since there weren’t a lot of people there, most everyone started filtering in around 10:30. We loved people-watching. The DJ was awesome — played 90s music and early 2000s music mostly, so it brought me back to my high school /college days. We danced the night away. The place emptied out pretty quickly by midnight. There is also a second floor at this place with bowling and other games.

We walked by here after dinner and popped in for some liveband and shuffleboard. We played upstairs while we waited on the band(great classics were covered, by the way) and we had a blast singing along. The drinks were decent — the bartender was an absolutely sweetheart and was very ind to keep an eye on us(its like herding cats sometimes) to make sure our drinks were full and we were having a good time. Ultimately, we left after a bit to go check out some other places, but we easily could have stayed and played around most of the evening! Side note: its a long walk to the bathrooms downstairs when you’re upstairs bowling or playing shuffleboard, so don’t wait until you *REALLY* have to pee to try and find the bathroom(not speaking from experience or anything).

We held an event at the Speakeasy during SXSW Interactive utilizing the backroom and the bowling alley area. It was the most fantastic event we have thrown to date. All of the bartenders were on point throughout the entire night. The security team kept everyone in line and Karen and her team were wonderful on logistically keeping everything running smoothly. My team was thrilled with the experience and will most definitely be back to host an event in the future.

Came by for some SXSW activities and it’s a pretty neat space with three separate levels. The top one being a roof deck and with the middle one playing host to a secret two-lane bowling alley. Also, since the crowd wasn’t all that crazy, we didn’t have to pay cover.

I went for a bachelorette party I only order 3 drinks the total was 31.70 I left the waitress a 10 dollars tip so total was 41.70 and yeah I got charged for that no problem but my problem is that they charge me two sets of $ 10 for I don’t know what those charged I never authorized it sucks because the drinks were really good but it’s a shame that I got overcharge I feel robbed

Making the climb up mountian-esk stairs to this bar was worth it. The drinks were as amazing as the ambiance. It’s a really nice covered patio that overlooks a portion of downtown. Has a cluby type feel to it, but its just a nice chill spot. Lots of couches and tables, just an awesome place. The bartender told me the most random story about dog sledding and just kept pouring me drinks. I don’t even want to look at my credit card statement. I got pretty hammered here.

I really love this bar. There are three levels that all have a different atmosphere so something for everyone. On the first level there is usually a live band, lots of tables, and a medium sized dance floor. On the opposite side there is a long bar with more seating. On the second floor there are two bowling alleys which we love! There is a small lounge area and this level overlooks the stage. You can hear live music while bowling which is pretty awesome. There is also a bar on this level which is awesome. It’s 10x person x hour to bowl which isn’t bad. On the roof top level there is usually a DJ spinning and a 3rd bar. There is an awesome city view from the rooftop. I really love this bar because you can bowl, hear live music, and dance on a roof top at the same place. Hours of fun for everyone.

Going here for New Years last year was a terrible decision. They make promises when they sell that they can’t keep when you’re actually there. They oversold and our group was split between different floors as a result, despite paying extra for tickets that allegedly gave us all access. Don’t waste your money and don’t waste a great night. Update in response to Karen– We knew exactly what we were buying. We were told that we were purchasing access to all of the floors, and that was consistent with the language on our tickets. It was not our ignorance but your failure as management. In fact, your management accepted that our wristbands granted us access to the third floor, yet they denied us access because you oversold. And you have not resolved the issue. In fact, you failed to respond to my correspondence. Don’t pass the blame. Accept it, and provide refunds for failing to provide the services promised.

Live band playing with a nice setup to listen. There is not much clarity to the organization for some of the amenities inside as we were told that the shuffleboard table was reserved yet no one was at it playing. We threw in a few bucks and were playing in no time and no one told us we couldn’t so I am not sure how the reservations work. There is a two lane bowling alley inside which is pretty cool and a few dart boards as well. At the top floor, there is another area for music and dancing which also provides a pretty sweet view of the city. I wouldn’t mind having a birthday here or some kind of function with several friends.

Came in on an early Friday evening. There must have been about 6 people in the entire place. This was great, as it gave us free range to tour the whole bldg. There is a nice large Rooftop with several chairs, lounges and tables. The mid floor has a two lane bowling alley, shuffle board, and Foosball. This lends to some humorous times once you add a few drinks. The bar at the mid level is small and bowling is $ 30/hr. I’m assuming its priced at that level to help eliminate«lane hogging» considering its just two lanes. The Bartender attempted to have an attitude(Not even close to a Cali-tude) but perhaps it was due to it being«early». Either way it’s uncalled for. Minus one star. Cover is nominal and predicated on the entertainment. Overall its a nice venue that will give me a reason to return.

Cool venue. Crappy bartender. He was rude and couldn’t be bothered — he ignored me and continued a conversation with a friend at the bar until he finally acknowledged me. Charged me $ 11 for a mediocre cocktail that he prepared and garnished by sticking his fingers into a jar of cherries to fish them out. I was at a professional event and didn’t want to make a scene, but i was quite upset and disgusted.

I came here on a rainy afternoon for happy hour. This bar has a rooftop and the second floor has a Bowling alley with 2 lanes. The beer selection was week, no craft beer on tap however this place has promise if there’s an even going on admittedly it was somber rainy Friday before Halloween. It didn’t appear that server food, but I’m not sure. I’ll probably give it another shot when a downtown music even like SXSW is around.

Walking back to the car from a mellow Friday date-night that included a Brazilian Steakhouse and some live jazz, we heard some serious party music blaring from above and it seemed like the place to be at the moment. We decided to check it out, and after discovering there was no cover charge we went full steam ahead to the upstairs rooftop where there was a mix of people really partying hard and getting down. Speakeasy quickly turned our mellow night into a jam fest! The view from the roof top was awesome as well as the fans and breeze that was going on helped keep us cool. The comfy lounge sofas with pillows were an added bonus. We also noticed that Speakeasy is soft of a 3 tiered venue. Downstairs had a live rap/rock band playing with its own dance floor and bar area. The middle floor was a more laid-back lounge atmosphere set up with darts, a photo booth and bowling! And we already discussed the best part… the upstairs, rooftop! It’s a really awesome place where you can basically spend your whole night if you wanted, going thru the different floors and vibes while partying your heart out. I’m sure we will be back for more in the near future.

as good as it gets for Austin. The cover band was good, service was good enough and the bartenders are good. That said, the drinks were a tad mild or watered down. Loved the ambience of the place.

I wish we could’ve checked out the whole bar but the inside floors were booked with a private party, which left us with the rooftop. The L O N G trek up those stairs gave me a nice workout, and once I caught my breath I took in the view of the beautiful ATX skyline and it was worth it! If you get there early you can snag a comfy couch/bed to sit on, otherwise there’s plenty of room to stand and dance. Speaking of, I wish I took down that DJ’s name because he ROCKED! He had the whole rooftop dancing to such a fun mix! Our waitress was attentive, she hooked us up with great service, and the shots are HUGE. That’s a good thing :) The crowd was a good crowd, not tons of young college rowdy kids. A nice mix of 20 somethings and older. I would recommend this bar for a fun night out, wish I could go back!

My boyfriend and I recently visited Austin and decided to do the whole 6th street thing. After wandering aimlessly for a while, we decided that maybe that wasn’t our kind of area. College me would have loved it, but now I just wanted somewhere I could sit down and have a beer. So, after deciding to venture elsewhere, we came across Speakeasy. There was a ten dollar cover per person which really sucked, but it ended up being worth it for the band and the seat. The band was called Space Rockers and they were great! They really entertained everyone with their stage presence and the songs they sang. I highly recommend them. Because the band is downstairs, we never ended up going upstairs, but I hear it’s big and has great views. I was just happy that there was ample seating available. The crowd itself was probably early to late 30s. Maybe a little older than my boyfriend and I, but we just weren’t feeling the 6th street vibe. I would certainly come here again if I were in the area. They had pretty standard drinks and I’m not sure about food. We were there so late that they would not have been serving anything.

Have been here a few times before and somehow missed the floor with the bowling lanes. Think maybe I always went in alley entrance and straight to rooftop. Cool bar with a lot of character. Ample number of ladies rooms which is always a bonus. Like all of downtown parking can be a nightmare, but if you’re lucky enough to find an open space Speakeasy has a paid lot RIGHT next to it. Maybe go DT early for dinner then hang at SE. Lots of fun!
