I love Stein Mart! There are many designer brands there that are discounted such as Michael Kors, Anne Klein, Kenneth Cole, Polo, and Nautica to name a few. I generally shop there for accessories like watches, bracelets, purses and scarves and have yet to be disappointed! My only complaint is that their coupons often only apply to already on-sale items rather than applying to regularly priced items, but other than that I have no other critiques!

I have to be in just the right mindset to go into a store like Stein Mart. It’s not really a know-what-you-need, get-in-get-out kind of place. Even if you enter with a goal in mind, chances are you will walk out with things you never even imagined that you suddenly can’t live without. It’s a browser’s paradise. If you are willing to invest the time and energy, you will likely be rewarded. I strolled in there today with a goal: return two items of clothing that I impulse-purchased and then in hindsight decided I didn’t want. I walked out with four lovely new dining room chairs. For a measly $ 180. Total. That’s how Stein Mart rolls. The best part of my experience at Stein Mart today was the charming associate who assisted me, Ian. When I first saw the chairs, of which there were only 2, I assumed I had to buy the floor models. I knew I couldn’t successfully lug them to the front of the store myself so I hijacked Ian, who was busy stocking and straightening shelves. Without skipping a beat, Ian was at my service. He said he would be happy to help me, and his attitude and dynamic customer service skills repeatedly confirmed this. He offered to look for more matching chairs«in the back», he offered to build them for me(some assembly required), and he offered to dolly them to the front of the store, wait for me to check out, and then bring them to my car to load. I ended up with 4 chairs and a deep gratitude and respect for Ian. He made the whole experience pleasant and easy for me. Attitude really is 90% of the shopping experience for me. And if Stein Mart continues to hire people like Ian, I’ll continue to get myself into the right mindset and give them my business. Bravo, Ian. Speaking as a mom, your mom would be proud!
