This Taquerias la Esondida has been here 10 years(there’s another location off of 290), and I’ve lived in the are for just under a year — so HOW did I just now discover it?! OMGood food stand heaven! Located just north of Lakeway, right off 620 and Mountain View this place is a major score of a find! Super friendly service, great food, nice covered area to sit in, a TV, and even a hand washing station right on the side of the stand(soap included; I mean, what other food stand has that?!)! The food here is the real deal… authentic! Perfectly slow cooked menudo, seasoned just right, great broth!(Too scared? Ask for a sample — they will be happy to oblige). Feeling extra hungry? Order one of their several platters: Maybe enchiladas or the fish special of the day. Or perhaps a burrito, quesadilla, or a gordita? Quite an extensive menu at this small joint. Or, just KISS and order up some tacos. $ 2.50 per taco and theirs are about twice the average size. Can’t miss with the super juicy barbacoa, the melt in your moth chicharron, or my personal favorite the al pastor. I’m salivating at this point… borderline drooling. AND, the owner scratch makes 3 different hot sauces with various heats and flavors. Be certain to try them all… goooood. And, wash it all down with a nice cold soda of choice from Mexico. Pepsi never tasted so good(cane sugar). Haven’t tried the breakfast tacos yet. But for $ 2, my experience with the other tacos, and choices like Cactus & Egg on the menu, you can bet I’ll be back! Again and again! HIGHLYRECOMMEND.
