I am a cosmetologist/makeup artist/beauty specialist. Having spent 15 years in the beauty industry, I find myself to be one of the most picky customers around. I pride myself in trying new products and services and I share my honest opinion about my likes/dislikes concerning everything beauty. That being said, it has been at least 5 years since I have said, «I LOVEMYHAIR!» I feel like I’ve never REALLY had a hairdresser. Until I met David Moreno. Not only did he save my destroyed ends while maintaining so much of my length(I’m CONSTANTLY in the grow out process), he sincerely listened to all of my very specific haircut concerns without making me feel needy. Then, David took all the time necessary for a multi-step color process to ensure the continued health and strength of my locks. My hair looks fabulous. I FEEL fabulous. I keep visualizing to my hair journey with MY first ever hairdresser. David is a walking positive vibration. His energy is a pleasure to sit in. I cannot say enough positive things about this creative genius! Thank you, David. See you soon ;*

Trying to recover from terrible layers and split ends? Look no further. Thanks to David Moreno, I have my long hair back to a healthy and beautiful state. I was convinced a few years ago(by another stylist not to be named) to add layers to my hair to increase volume. It was a disaster. My hair looked unhealthy and full of dead ends. Then a friend recommended David and I am so happy to have found a stylist that loves working with long hair. He did this technique where he would twist my hair and cut off the breakage, it’s a technique I’ve never seen before and it works. It only took a couple of appointment for my hair to feel back to normal, and now it looks better than I think it ever has. Yay for healthy and lush long hair!

So, two of my female friends have long gorgeous hair. I ask them what their secret is – and it is regular cuts by David Moreno! He does a «special» kind of trim where he isn’t just chopping off inches, but nipping just the breakage so you still have that«full look» of hair(and my hair is thin) but the regular trims keep it healthy to continue to grow. He also gives great advice on hair management for what I am trying to achieve. Super nice, super honest and my hair is already looking longer. I will continue to go to him until I Have my «mermaid hair!» Check this place out. He is the owner and works hard and has been doing this for a long time! True professional.

If you want the best in haircuts and color, it doesn’t get any better than The Art of Subtraction. I have been following David Moreno around Austin for 25+ years, and it’s great that he’s building his own salon now. Sure, I’d love for it to be closer to my northwest Austin home, but David continues to be worth the drive. He’s social without being intrusive, listens to what you want, and offers great suggestions. The salon has WiFi, plenty of comfy seating and always a cool beverage or hot cup of joe when you arrive. All around great place for a positive hair experience.

Just had the best hair cut/color of my life. Dave Bain was my stylist and really outdid himself. He took the time up front to really listen to me, to really understand what I wanted. After getting the lowdown from me on my needs/wants for my hair, he gave me one of the best shampoos I’ve ever had. STRONG hands. Very relaxing. After that, the cut was super fast and yet meticulous. He made sure everything was ‘just so.’ The color looked amazing. SOHAPPY with it. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been going to David for 25 years. Hes amazing. The salon is comfy and he always has great music on and plenty of beverages for you. There is also WiFi. I have strayed a couple of times dues to moving and letting other friends do my hair. I ALWAYS go back because David has to fix my hair. He is especially awesome with curly hair.

I’ve been going to Francisco Romero for 5 years. He is extremely talented and creative. Great, relaxing atmosphere.

This is a great salon. It’s relaxed yet cool and maybe even a little trendy. It also has free, fast WiFi(I work during those long coloring appointments, shhh). David Moreno, the owner, is a gifted professional. He’s been in the business 20 some years and he LISTENS to what you say. He is well-known for his curly hair cuts but I can tell you that he does great with my wavy(read: prone to sticking up) hair that I refuse for the most part to style(it’s too time consuming, people!). If you make a coloring appointment, grab a taco from Torchey’s on your way in and bring your computer with you. David will have great coffee waiting for you. That way you can eat, drink and do some work while you become beautiful! You won’t be sorry!
