The Cleaning Machine

This is really a no-​star rating.
I also bought the living social deal and they refused to honor it.
On the day of our appointment, instead of contacting us to let us know they would no longer honor it, they just never showed up. When my husband called we got a recording that said they were no longer honoring the living social deal.
I will never do business with this company because their first impression on me is that they are very unprofessional. Each time we call, we got a recording. When they finally returned our calls, they said they would not be able to schedule us in for two weeks. Then, they never showed up or called on the day of the appointment.

I had a similar experience to the other reviewers except I actually got to use my Living Social coupon, which in retrospect I wish I’d just been able to refund because the $ 49 I spent was completely wasted. Only 1 guy came to clean my house and, similar to the other reviews, I’d cleaned/​tidied up the house to prepare for him so he could do the real cleaning — i.e. mopping, dusting, scrubbing tubs etc. He arrived almost an hour late with no call to let me know he was on his way.
When he did arrive he did the absolute WORST cleaning job I’ve ever seen. He didn’t clean the sink in the kitchen, didn’t empty any wastebaskets, barely mopped the floors (basically just moved the dirt and dust around bc he didn’t bother to sweep or vacuum first) and left 2 large black stains on my daughter’s brand new rug when he moved a chair. The counters in the kitchen still had crumbs from breakfast on them. He was done in an hour (despite it being a 2 hour groupon). I felt like I needed to clean my house again after he left.
This was especially frustrating as I was in the last weeks of my pregnancy and was looking forward to having a clean home when the baby was born but was too exhausted to do the cleaning myself. ARG.
I even called to try to let the company rectify the situation before writing a negative review. They were apologetic but never got back to me, even after I called 2 more times.
As others have said, if I could give them zero stars I would.
DO NOT USE THE CLEANING MACHINE,

Bad business practice! I also had the Living social coupon. No show this morning. I called the number and got a recording stating they were no longer affiliated with Living social. How about a call?! On a positive note, Living social was more than happy to issue a full refund. They also said I was the first person to call about this. So everybody call that got the coupon and get your money back! Don’t call this bunch for anything! Would give negative stars if possible!

We scheduled out house cleaning 2 days before we a baby shower at our house. Today, when they were 15 minutes late, my husband called and got a message that they were no longer honoring the Living Social deals.
They should have called us. They had our name, we had scheduled with them. That is bad business practice.
Thankfully, Living Social was more than willing to refund the money. Although the person on their end was incredulous that The Cleaning Machine actually had a message on their voice mail that they weren’t honoring the deal. They said that was the first they had heard of that. By the other Unilocal here, Living Social shouldn’t have been so surprised.
In any case, I do not recommend doing business with The Cleaning Machine.

I would give less than one star if I could.
Like most of the other reviewers, I purchased the Living Social deal with the Cleaning Machine back in mid-​February. The first four times I called, I got no answer and their voicemail was full. When I finally was able to leave a message, they called me back and told me the earliest they could come clean was April 9^th (really?). I scheduled that date despite it being ridiculously far in the future for a cleaning service– I don’t normally get my house professionally cleaned, so I’d be happy no matter when it happened.
If you’ve read the other reviews, you can guess what happened next. No one called, no one came, and now they won’t return my calls or answer my emails.
Thankfully, Living Social was remarkably nice and promptly handled a refund over e-​mail– I just sent them my voucher number, explained that they were a no-​show, and linked to these Unilocal reviews. So in the end, no harm done.

I haven’t been this put-​off and angry in a LONG time — purchased the Living Social voucher in February and had scheduled the cleaning for this morning.
I spent two days getting «ready» for the cleaners, got up earlier this morning to continue decluttering before the kids got up, cleared my own schedule for today to be home, and the Cleaning Machine was a NO SHOW.
When I called Jennifer, she said they were no longer honoring the Living Social vouchers. WTF? Then she apologized because «the person we hired to call everyone and let them know that their appointments had been cancelled didn’t do it.»
I did call Living Social — 1−877−521−4191 — and they were awesome. Didn’t hesitate to issue my $ 49 refund and even supplemented it with some «Living Social bucks» (whatever that is).
So my house is still dirty, but bottom line: Living Social — great customer service. Cleaning Machine — a joke of a business.

After being thoroughly excited for purchasing a great Living Social deal… it all came crashing down.
First off, I do not even believe they deserve 1 star. I called to schedule a service date and had everything set up only to completely ruin my plans a few days later when they called back to see if we can reschedule for a later date. Ok, I was courteous and agreed to reschedule. I had to move all my previous plans around to make sure I could accomodate THEM.
I was running around taking care of some errands and trying to rush home to make sure I would be be home before the scheduled time they rescheduled me for only to receive yet another phone call.
This time though it was to cancel the whole ordeal, only 45 minutes before they were supposed to arrive. They claimed they cancelled their contract with Groupon and were no longer honoring them. I had to call Groupon to get my refund.
Here’s what I dont get. How do you expect to run a successful buisness when treating your customers like dirt? It was not my fault YOU cancelled YOUR contract with them. The correct thing to do was to honor those patrons who had purchased your service.
So dissappointing.
The Cleaning Machine, as seen through the other reviews has earned the Dirty rep they have. Ain’t so clean afterall huh?

Just to update. I was finally able to get ahold of Jennifer on March 18^th and she was very apologetic. We scheduled a time for her to come by for a move-​out cleaning (where the LivingSocial deal would be applied to the total cost of the cleaning).
I scheduled for her to come by tomorrow (March 30^th) and she promised to call the day before to confirm a time so I could let her in. So I call AND text at around 12:15 — 12:30 only to have her call back and say she is «no longer honoring LivingSocial deals, because LivingSocial isn’t communicating with her.» Wait, what?
So basically, I’m shit out of luck for tomorrow and I’m scrambling to find someone to do a last minute house cleaning. A little warning would have been wonderful.
Communication goes a long way.

The Cleaning Machine is FANTASTIC. Im not sure what the other reviews are talking about but I was very inpressed with the way my house looked. I will continue to use them from here on out!!! Great job Cleaning Machine keep up the good job!

chalk up another angry customer… I bought the Living Social deal. After 4 calls to schedule the service, they finally answered the phone. Then I was told that they couldn’t give me the full 2 hours. That was going to be okay as it was a cleaning after a move and it probably wouldn’t have taken 2 hours. Then they did not show for the appointment and have not answered the 3 calls I made asking where they were.
I guess they figure they will collect the money from the coupon and not perform the service. Interesting business model.

Horrible. I am so angry. I bought a living social deal for two people cleaning for two hours. I got one man, lack of supplies, and he stayed for a grand total of maybe ¹⁄₂ hour and left messes and the place look NO different than went he left save a few dishes put away. I am angry and do not reccomend these people at all ever.

I should’ve learned my lesson by now with Groupon-​type deals, especially for services instead of goods, but apparently I hadn’t. We heard about a deal on Living Social for two hours of cleaning from two people and jumped on it because we needed a good deep clean before we rent our house out for SXSW.
We were supposed to be scheduled for Feb. 29 around lunch. I got a call at 7:30 in the morning the day of to see if they could reschedule. I told her we were flexible but it needed to be done before the end of the day March 1 and I was told that would work and would get a call later with a time. Fast forward to 10:15 a.m. the next day when I finally hear a time, which was supposed to be 4 – 5 hours in the future but only turned out to be two, so that’s cool.
We’re relatively clean people and picked up a LOT before they got here so they’d have time to focus on things we didn’t want to do, like baseboards and windowsills. Not only do the baseboards and windowsills look the same as they did when they started, but we have a whole room of furniture that was left undusted. Our kitchen counters were wiped but nothing was picked up and wiped under. And on top of that, they left the house incompletely done after less than an hour and a half instead of the promised two hours we paid for. When I called to see what happened, I wasn’t offered a refund or an apology and only a half-​hearted offer of sending them back out for another 30 minutes. You know what? I’ll just dust my shit myself so I can be sure it’ll actually get done.
What was done was done well, but still. Lesson learned. If you want something done right, pay full price or you won’t get their full effort.
