What an adorable Austin east side shop! I bought my sister a beautiful hand printed scarf here. I also enjoyed their curation of local print works and handmade jewelry. The shop attendant was super kind and knowledgeable; we chatted about podcasts! Make it an adventure: the location is just a quick hop from some great coffee shops, a bike shop, and all the east side cocktail hot spots. Grab a cocktail and get a small buzz before shopping, that way you’ll be more willing to spend some money on deserving local artists’ works. I’ll definitely be back to peruse and see what new items they offer in the future, and surely take my own advice.

This spot is a unique and colorful print and handmade art store. The art works are from several local and nationwide artists. Everything has a unique flair to it. Polly was very nice and informative as to what spots would appeal to me and my boyfriend. There are many treasures here.

Support the Arts! Bb and I got into Austin late and wandered around on 6th street looking for action on a Monday nite. Passing by this little store we noticed the cool apothecary bottles in the window and I made a mental note to come back in the daylight. So glad we did. It’s a delightful little store full of treasures. Beautiful handmade jewelry at reasonable prices. Johanna was a doll and very knowledgeable about all the artists that are represented. She helped me pick out a lovely and unique onyx pendant that I absolutely love. I was going to save it for a special occasion mostly because I loose or break every piece of jewelry in my possession — but I haven’t taken it off yet cuz I love it so much and it is holding up against my abuse very nicely. Thanks Johanna! I even convinced the bb to trade in his nasty wallet for a recycled rubber one. It’s so cool I really should have gotten one for myself too. There are a lot of great pottery pieces and cool prints. Definitely check out their webstore: but if you are in the area try to make it in person.

Unique, hand crafted, affordable art for your home, gifts, and wardrobe. From the moment we entered, Johanna(one of the ‘business mistresses’ of the gallery/shop) was warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. She was able to tell us about the artists and their processes for each piece that we noted interest in, creating a sense of connection and appreciation for the energy, thought, and creativity that went into the works of art. It was a bit of an educational experience for me(I was not familiar with the intricate work involved in hand-pulling prints), and my fiancé enjoyed the stimulating conversation(he’s the artist in the family). We never felt rushed or pressured, but did felt tended to and appreciated as customers. I purchased two pairs of hand-wrought jewelry, and my fiancé bought three hand-pulled prints that will adorn our bedroom walls and one for his office. Very happy with our visit to The Lion’s Nest, and it’s definitely on the list to hit on our next trip to Austin.

Best Art Gallery in town by far. Every time I come in I see new pieces that I want. Prices are right on the spot. Katie and Johanna have done a great job creating a working gallery that any art lover can find something they need.
