U-Haul Moving & Storage at I-35 and Airport Blvd

Initially I would say that I was upset that they did not have the extra utility dolley that we reserved but they made up for it by not charging us extra for the hour and ½ that we had the truck. Pricing is okay not expensive not cheap just okay.

Seemed organized and staff was friendly. The road around the storage units is a little narrow, but otherwise appears to be a clean and well-​maintained facility.

I rented a 14′ truck and my reservation was for 4:00 PM on Monday. When I arrived at the location (Which is actually on the I-​35 Frontage Road and 46^th Street, not Airport) it was 4:09 and the lobby was locked with a note that read «Out in the lot, will return in 10 minutes).
The attendant returned close to 4:40. He apologized for the wait and I didn’t make any fuss about it. We took care of the paperwork and he gave me all the standard info about returning with X amount of gas and whatnot.
I returned the truck the following day about an hour prior to my scheduled time. The Manager of the location was very friendly and was sweeping as the clerk proceeded to process my return. However, he had apparently just came back from lunch and had an issue clocking back in. I waited about 5 minutes for himself and the manager to work out the issue, which in my opinion should take a lower priority when customers need tending.
I had just filled up the truck such that it matched the fuel level according to my original departure. The clerk was not satisfied and was going to impose the $ 35 + 4.50/gallon fee for what would amount to 1 – 1.5 gallons, I began to protest as he parked on a very steep grade to check the levels and was being much too particular, the manager intervened. Additionally, I had left a bungee cord and a small ball of twine in the back of the Uhaul which the clerk referred to as «Debris» and asked the Manager «How dirty does it have to be before we charge them?». Luckily, she gave me an apologetic look and told him not to worry about it.
I found his conduct to be extremely rude. He was actively looking for a «gotcha» and I will not patronize businesses with this attitude. I feel this is unfortunate as the manager was amicable and reasonable, but there are simply too many alternatives in my area to be dis-​satisfied at all.

I would give this place no stars if possible… Worst service ever! I’m a patient person but my experience with this U-​Haul was awful. I made my appt. over the phone to pick up a truck at 7:30pm. I arranged for a dolly and some moving blankets. We arrived just after 7, and they had closed already! I had to pound on the door and the only employee there, after staring at me for about 20 seconds, had to tear himself away from his girlfriend to let us in. He was incredibly rude, apparently because we had foiled his plans for booking out early… not to mention they didn’t have the items I had reserved (Seinfeld, anyone?). Terrible experience, nothing positive to say at all.

I had a really, really horrible experience here. I had my belongings at this storage space for 2 months before I ran screaming. During this time, the employee (s) were rarely accessible, I was locked out of my space, and had my space broken into in what I’ve always suspected was an inside job.
On move-​in day, I arrived with a truckload of stuff only to find that the place was closed during their posted operating hours. For the rest of my lease, what seemed to be the facility’s only employee was there only sporadically and unpredictably.
The first time I tried to access my storage space, they’d locked me out by putting their own padlock on the door, even though my rent was current. Of course, the clerk wasn’t there when I tried to report to the office. I returned the next day and was told that, for security purposes, I had to buy one of their locks because mine wasn’t secure enough. I acquiesced and purchased/​installed one of their locks in addition to leaving my own lock on the door.
Just before my lease was up, I got a call from the clerk saying my space had been broken into — ironically, the locks were untouched, but the crappy latch on the door had been cut. It turns out this happened just a week or so before the place was supposed to be refitted with new latches to comply with corporate standards, and a week or so before they were to be installing cameras. Suspicious timing, no?
Further, there was no sign of forced entry into the gated facility itself nor into the buildings that housed the storage units. Only a select few spaces were broken into — mine was probably in the least accessible location in the far back corner of the second floor, away from the elevators but next to stairs. I was targeted!
Luckily, I hadn’t left anything of any value in the storage space and nothing was stolen. However, all of my boxes had been rifled through and the contents scattered.
Avoid this business. In my dealings with them, I never got the feeling they were anything more than shady, shady, shady.
