So terribly sad to see this place close. It’s like losing a close relative. I would go to this place with my wife when we were first dating and took her here right before proposing to her. Perfect romantic fancy date. Seriously, everything about this place was perfect. It was a wine bar, but they served fine food, as in expert chef, fine dining kind of food that you hold in your mouth for a few moments before swallowing kind of food. It was downtown across from the highway on top of a hill and there was a deck outside with candles and lights strung around and you had a perfect view of the downtown skyline. It was never crowded, even on Valentine’s day, which is probably why it went out of business. The service was perfect, the wine was perfect, everything about this place was perfect. Why did it close???

I’ve called their number for the past 3 days trying to speak to someone and no one ever answers. I haven’t even eaten here yet! This is a bad start. I’ll edit my review after I eat there in the upcoming days.

Walking into Uncorked is like walking in fashionably late to your closest friends’ wine party at their house. You walk up a few concrete stairs before landing onto a lovely patio, boasting a semi-obstructed view of downtown, but let’s face it. Austin’s growing. Everything is obstructed. Except for my love of this place. This neighborhood restaurant is a converted bungalow home, which I love. You enter this welcoming home. To the right, the once-foyer is sprinkled with loungy leather sofas, enough to convince a non-wine drinker to slink in deeper into the sofa and order another round. To the left, there is a itty bitty dining room, cozy and romantic, while also exuding a welcoming, neighborhood feel. The staff has always been energetic, polite and charismatic. The wine has always been tasty. I adore their wine palate cheat sheet, for those who aren’t as in tuned to their wine tastes. The food has always been delishhhhhhious. How can you go wrong with cheese. on fire. flambé. set ablaze. salty. creamy. dreamy cheese. I could live the rest of my life operating off of a rich Pinot Noiaaaa and cheese platters. And with Uncorked, I just might try.

I’m a big fan of Uncorked. On a nice night, it’s hard to beat the downtown views from the patio. The food is tasty as well! I always go for a wine flight. I love the symbols they use on their menu to indicate a wine’s notes. It makes it easier for wine novices like myself. Our server last night was extremely knowledgable about the wines and made some great suggestions. It was clear she had a passion for wine. Can’t wait to go back!

Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience at Uncorked. I was expecting much more from such a seemingly neat place. i had high expectations that weren’t fulfilled. I registered for their«wine membership» via their website, but according to the servers, it didn’t exist. When I asked the owner, he said they just don’t use it because it’s a burden. So why is it still advertised, and why am I still getting the emails if I can’t utilize the perks? The«wine expert» seemed totally uninterested in answering my questions regarding their wine, and totally inconvenienced and bothered(and unknowledgeable) by my asking for a detailed description about it. When I’m tasting wine, I like to know everything about the quality and details of which. They weren’t busy, there were only 3 other customers inside. It’s unfortunate that I didn’t have a friendlier experience because the atmosphere is nice, they have a great wine list and a really neat menu, but the service wasn’t exceptional or personalized by any means. If you aren’t concerned about friendly, attentive service, then it’s a great place. But if you’re a wine connoisseur who appreciates excellent service and friendly business, then don’t expect too much. The view is great from the patio. Also be aware that parking is very limited!

This place is so chill. They have a hefty selection of flights. If you want a cheese playe yry the candied walnut soft cheese. They also have gluten free crackers which was a plus. Our server was very nice also. The place looks and feels like you are in a residential house with a built-in bar.

Pretty cool concept. Looks like an upscale wine bar but you come in and seat yourself. Great view of the Texas capitol building. I asked the waitress for her advice on the wine flights and she found me one that had everything I was looking for. Then I got a Spanish manchego and prosciutto plate which came with honey, mustard, bread, grapes, and melons. The cheese serving was only two small pieces but the whole plate was delicious. Then got a spinach salad which had walnuts, feta cheese, baby tomatoes, and a sweet dressing to top it off. Everything was damn tasty. I would definitely come back. Next time though I would come with other people because I was the only one here by myself tonight.

This is the most laid back upscale wine bar you will even walk into. You may walk in and be a little confused by the lack of hostess or any employee to great you, like we were and several of the customers who followed us, however simply say hello to the bar tender and sit where you like. Once seated and greeted by a friendly waiter you’ll notice the wine selection at this place is pretty impressive. They even have a few different flights available for those who want to try even more wine. The food here is also delicious. We had the charcuterie and hummus trio, both had great flavor and great portion sizes. Though the meals and glasses of wine are a little on the pricey side, the laid back atmosphere and delicious food make this wine bar great for a date night.

Fine wine, great cheeses, bread, and spreads(especially the honey). View of the city. Lovely evening.

I really like this place. They have an extensive selection of many kinds of wines and they offer seasonal cheese tasting plates. Furthermore, you get a nice view of Austin’s skyline; it is not perfect though, as you also get a «fantastic view» of congestion-prone I-35. This a great place for a first date and/or to start your night out in town.

Good wine and tasty pâté with a view. We came on a Saturday night at 6:30. Perfect patio for early drinks. They actually have quite the view of downtown. The menu is great-lots of little pictures so you can decode the wine yourself. We sat and had wine and the pâté. The pâté goes so well with the mustard and tiny pickles. It’s a great place to hang out and have easy conversation. They even had live music. It’s not a bargain place but you aren’t shafted either.

The wine flight selection is incredible — they offer seasonal flights along with their permanent selections. Menus come with a wine guide to help you decide what you’re in the mood for. I ordered the Lamb entrée which was prepared perfectly. Their portions are perfect — not too big, not too small. I will certainly be back here to try the cheese and meat platter, along with the hummus and everything else I haven’t yet tried. Last but not least, there is no where else in the city with the downtown view they have from the patio. Fans are always on so there is a constant breeze! Perfect for a relaxing evening with a group of friends.

An overpriced wine bar with good apps. I am a sweet wine drinker and I was not pleased, happy, or impressed with that selection. I was talked into a wine by our server that I felt was terrible. It was the farthest thing from sweet and it was heavy. I paid anyway … I just never went back after that. Parking is awful. Outdoor patio is awesome!

I came here for Friday night HH with some lady friends and I am so glad we did! I had never been here before and was super excited to finally try it out! We decided to sit outside, as the crazy Texas summer weather wasn’t terrible yet thanks to the breeze. One of my friends who got there first ordered a cheese plate with Machengo and Gouda, which came with some sliced baguettes, grapes and honey at the bar. Our waitress(wish I would have wrote down her name) was super knowledgeable about all of the wine and food, was super friendly, and thoroughly explained everything we had questions about and ordered! One of the ladies opted for the Buenas Argentina wine flight while myself and another friend told the waitress what we liked as far as wine went and told her to «surprise us». She ended up with The Sparkler wine flight and I got the Protean Pink. All 3 of my wines were super delicious and my friends really enjoyed theirs as well. Since we were there for some much needed girl talk and all had to drive home, we went ahead and ordered some grub as well. We started off with The Hummus Trio with Warm Pita. I am a BIG hummus fan and I loved all 3 of the fresh, in house made ones we were given! I got the Spinach Salad Tossed in a Sherry Vinaigrette which was super fresh and delicious! We also shared the special for the day, which was some kind of Tuna Brushetta, which of course was delicious! One of the girls in my party knew one of the bartenders who ended up giving us a free glass of champagne, which we gladly accepted and enjoyed. I mean, what girl doesn’t love champagne, especially when its free?! We split the bill 3 ways and ended up only paying $ 20 and some change each for a good amount of delicious drinks and yummy food! Overall it was a great first experience here for me and I will definitely be back sometime soon! Keep up the good work Uncorked! Sip, Sip, Hooray!

Just about as good as it gets for a wine bar… its located in a little house in between East Austin and Downtown(off hwy 35). The place smelled like garlic when we went, which worked for me. I had a couple red wine flights and a glass of wine… the wine I selected was good, not great, but good and average priced($ 12 a glass). The food we had was also good, but some of the items people around us got looked amazing. Definitely a place I will go again… perfect for dates or small groups of friends.

I just don’t like Uncorked. I like the location because it’s down the street from me, but that’s about it. I wish I could stop my review at feeling like the food and wine is kindof overpriced for what it is, but it gets worse… Well before I really started reviewing on Unilocal,I had an issue with using my coupons here… mainly that they complained about me using them, then just stopped honoring them… so did a couple of my friends. I can understand if you don’t like , but I’m sure as a business, you can deal with them directly rather than seemingly taking it out on your customers. After a discussion one night with the owner about it, I felt like I had the check run on me… aka, I had 2 glasses of what I thought was the house wine and it ended up being $ 31. I just assumed it was my own stupid fault, but I had heard similar stories from my friends as well. Consider their stories to be hearsay here, but mine continues to smell funny to me. That’s pretty much the last time I voluntarily went to that establishment. After that, I only go when I’m forced to on business. My one experience being charged $ 31 for 2 glasses of an already opened bottle of again what I thought was only going to cost me $ 20 could be my fault, or it could be because I had used coupons and the owner, who had a major problem with the program, recovered the money from me in a creative way. Either way, it was an uncomfortable experience that has turned me off to the place altogether.

Take it from a guy who bought wine for a living, the list is legit! So two is the owner Ron Wight. Great space(tiny but functional). And they have food! Have not tried it yet, but will be back to find out. This is a little hidden gem in Austin.

Some nights, I’d rather drink wine while cozied up in the confines of my home(footed onesies and all) but imbibing at Uncorked feels every bit as homey, but with much better wine, cheese and charcuterie. And if you carry that glass of wine onto the patio, you’ve found one of the most idyllic vantage points for taking in our beautiful city at night. The staff here is really great — besides having the lowdown on every wine they sell, they’re also adept at explaining the temperament of their wines in terms that actually make sense. Last night, I was steered toward a gorgeous Pinotage(the Barista from Western Cape, Africa) that sounded flat on paper but was absolutely illuminated by the words from our server! I’m happy to report it tasted even better. Uncorked is definitely the quintessential date spot — it’s perfectly intimate and overflowing with charm and wonderful lighting — but it also rocks as a destination for friends to catch up and enjoy really great food. And the menu doesn’t stop with the typical wine bar fare: there’s also saffron-steamed mussels, chipotle lamb loin chops, housemade paté and truffled mushroom and spinach risotto just to name a few enticing selections. When you bring friends or a date to Uncorked Tasting Room and Wine Bar, it’s simple: everyone wins.

My favorite type of flight, if I’m not flying first class(which, I’ll be honest, has never happened), is a wine flight and holy hannah does Uncorked book those flights to capacity. Expect three large glasses that are *almost* half full. I’ve never seen anything like it. I had an utterly perfect evening here recently. The weather was warm and we chose to sit outside(though the candlelit interior is equally appealing). It was pretty fucking idyllic, I must say. My friends and I opted for a cheese plate(plentiful, not to mention well-chosen, cheeses) to accompany our flights(note: there is a *sparkling* flight in addition to red and white). My second favorite type of flights are the ones that are short and sweet. Just like this review. I’d definitely return on my next trip to Austin!
