Best UYE Series in town! We try out famous and delicious Austin area food joints with the coolest people in town! What’s not to love!!! Ok, so I might be a bit biased since this new UYE series is the love child of Joe C. and me. I am new to Austin. My one year anniversary is coming up next month in fact. My first trip to Austin was when my hubby was interviewing for a new job here. We also happened to attend the very first BOM Club meeting on that trip. It’s also where I met Joe and a bunch of other awesome Unilocalers. I kept bumping into Joe at BOM meetings and other Unilocal stuff. We kept kicking around the idea of a new UYE series to help newbies to town try out the Austin food hot spots. Of course, we wanted to get long term Austinites to join us too, because there is always a new food joint opening up, or you might just not have made it over to a certain place. We wanted a fun UYE series to try out awesome food places and meet new fun people, as well as hang out with long term friends. What could be better? So we finally got the ball rolling and we had a blast on our first meeting. Here’s the scoop: We meet up for an awesome time at «Hey…You Gonna Eat Or What?» We camped out and had the primo spot right in front of the food truck. We had awesome people there including Joe and Jen C., Johnathan S. and Arlemarie M., and Steven B., and my crazy kiddo who kept Jen busy the whole event. Joe being awesome, brought a cooler of beer and a ton of Unilocal swag because he is AWESOME! Then, the feasting began! Most of us went with the ever popular Shine Monte Cristo, which is simply divine. It is a must have for anyone who hasn’t had one yet or just hungry. That Sammy was simply fantastic. One brave soul who wasn’t going to go with the crowd went with the Texas Smoked Turkey and it was just as fabulous! While we were chowing down, Chef Eric came by and told us about his food and what goes into making these food masterpieces. Chef was awesome and a delight to talk to. He’s really a big, ol’ teddy bear. We all had a blast, laughed way too much, and all had very full bellies at the end of the event. It was even a bit sad when it was over, but alas, all good things must end at some point. We are looking to having a «Wait, you’ve never been too… UYE» on a monthly basis. I hope to see you at the next one! Everyone is always welcome, even if you are the duke/duchess of wherever we are eating. We want everyone to come and have fun. Happy eating!

So uhhh I have this thing about food trucks that I have mentioned before. I like the food but being exposed to the elements and the bugs(mainly the bugs) usually deters me from making too many ventures. I was alerted of this event about 3 hours prior by Joe C. Given the talk of the deep fried sammich(more on that later) I rushed to the gym. Hey it was supposed to be my rest day but… DEEPFRIEDSAMMICH! I did a quick intense workout, rushed to shower and get dressed and hauled it southbound. I got to hangout with the wonderful Rachel And Steven B(and their super cute daughter), the always amazing Jen and Joe C, and met Jonathan S and Arlemarie M. Luckily the weather cleared up for this event and it was a great time for all! I had a chance to finally try the amazing Shiner Monte Cristo… Let’s just say it was totally worth the extra workout. I would workout on any rest day to earn a sandwich like that! There were a few other trucks in the park that have been on my list that I will have to journey downwards for some other time. I think this is a great Unilocal UYE series. In fact it may tempt my food truck adverse self out more often! Great event and as always fun times with other Unilocalers!
